I find inspiration everywhere. There's inspiration in every landscape. You see a grouping of trees? What could be happening right there? You meet an interesting person? Give them a character name, an occupation and a quest. You're eating something delicious? Turn it into a protagonists last meal and work backwards. Let life inspire you!

I remember the best advice I ever received, from my best friend and fellow author May Torres:
Just... tell the story.
Most of the time, when I encounter writer's block, it's not a lack of inspiration, or a lack of words. It's my fear of telling my 100% truth; fear of how it will be received, fear of whether or not the book will "do well".
That's not my responsibility. There's a story in me, and my only duty is to get it out, in all of its authentic glory.

I get to live in worlds that no one has ever seen or been. They belong to me. I am the gatekeeper to beauty and pain and joy and fear and adventure and sadness and love and riches ... and an infinite number of combinations. There's something really great about simultaneously realizing that you're really unique, but also that you have so much in common with the rest of the world.

Don't Stop Writing! Learn to accept the fact that you will simply always look at the world differently. Realize that the world needs you. It needs your imagination. It needs your passion, it needs your insanity. Let it all flow out on the pages, and don't stop. It's not an easy road, being a writer. But, it's the one you were meant to travel on.

I've been procrastinating about publishing lately, so I find myself starting many books to avoid finishing any. I'm forcing myself to finish the 3 books that have been foremost in my mind. One, is a sequel to In A Flash, one is a controversial look at religion and the bible, and the last is a fun and sexy vampire novel.

My most recent book, Sleep My Baby, came about as I began thinking of my estranged relationship with my mother. There are certain parts of your childhood that will never leave you, so I decided to start compiling them. My friends have often joked about what my reaction would be if I ever found out I was pregnant, so I decided to write about a young woman who, upon learning that she's pregnant, starts thinking about her own childhood.
