TRAVELOGUE EGYPT

If I have a passion for writing I equally have a passion for travelling.
We all have different and very personal approaches to travelling, and our own way of feeling and relating to it varies during our lifetime as a result of our experience and the knowledge acquired.
Usually, as for any other source of learning, the more you know the more you want to know. It’s kind of a circle where you have to enter at one point and, once inside, you hardly get off.
I would say, in other words, that for loving something, you have to know it; but to know it you’d better love it. Which one of these viewpoints you take anyway, there is always a first step to it.
I guess my first step towards “travelling” was at the age of six… months when my father got a post at Beirã, in the north of Portugal, near to the border with Spain. We were in October 1941; World War was at its beginnings.
After about one month at Beirã, my father was sent to Barca d’Alva, another close-by village. He was working at the time for a German export company sited in Portugal, his job consisting in supervising the goods in transit to Germany: mainly cork, wine and other Portuguese foodstuff articles.
For my first birthday, my parents took me to Vilar Formoso. That day, for the first time in my life, I stepped on foreign land: I stood at the border sign, my left foot on Portuguese soil, and my right foot on Spanish land.
Six years later, for my seventh birthday, I was again standing on the very same spot and being taken on photo.
Since those faraway days, what a long way I’ve done travelling! It’s one of those wonderful life experiences I want to share here with you through my book “Travelogue Egypt – Through the Eyes of a Western Woman”.
By the way, this is an ebook, also known as “kindle” book. It can be read on the Pc, Mac, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, or Android Phone. As to a paperback version, it’s foreseen and hopefully still published this year.
