Alright, I’m gonna throw down some truth for my man Aiden Turner. Let me tell you, I love me some Idris Elba, some Jason Momoa, and *looks at smudged writing on hand* Ricky Armtag, but Aiden has been around this block representing the Hades Aidoneus aesthetic in his acting for YEARS my friends.
Aiden has both the correct amount of intensity and vulnerability needed for Aidoneus. Whoever should play him should have experience bringing to life a battle-worn soldier who attempts/establishes a sense of normalcy in his life subsequent to war (Poldark, Being Human) who can be only vulnerable in love (The Hobbit, Poldark, Desperate Romantics, Being Human) who has a poetic sense to him (Desperate Romantics) but allows his intensity to remain intact when needed (pretty much all of the above). He has the right temperament, the right skill set, and even the right hair for the job! He’s no stranger to period pieces (Poldark, Desperate Romantics, And Then There Were None, Loving Vincent) and is comfortable playing non/super-human characters (Being Human, The Hobbit, Mortal Instruments). A plus? He’s pretty attractive.
Sorry about the rant, I just wish more people showed Aiden some love! I know the other guys fit the bill too, but Aiden perfectly nails the intimacy that Aidoneus needs, and that’s far more essential than him being pasty or young or super hot. It’s literally like the core of the story??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyways there’s my two cents. Or 50.
