You mentioned that Zeus has only really loved a few women. Does this mean he loves hera the most or only married her because she was the only one good enough to be queen?

I think he definitely loves her the most, but it transcends and often leaves behind romantic love. They have a good partnership, and work well together when Zeus isn’t philandering and Hera isn’t hauling around 20 tons of baggage in a 5 pound sack.

In your telling was Hera raped by zeus or did he just do the bird thing and that somehow won her over? Sorry if this is a spoilery question

He raped her. She would use the word “ravished”, because she blames herself somewhat for what transpired.

What’s Morpheus’ relation to Hypnos in your telling?

They’re brothers in my telling.

Would Hades consider Thanatos his best friend or vice versa?

Both. Pretty sure both.

Question: was Zeus being serious in Destroyer of Light when he said he would leave hera for demeter?

Yes. I think he was desperate at that point. By Demeter was right. If she accepted, it would open up the possibility that he would do it again to her when some other goddess held the earth hostage, essentially.

What's hera like? I always imagined her kind of sad because of how Zeus treats her. Does she have any friends?

She is a major character in The Good Counselor, and I imagine that like other powerful women on Olympus like Aphrodite, she is quite lonely most of the time.

The only woman she really trusts, in my telling, is Hestia. All others she likely views as ripe for betraying her and sleeping with Zeus, or they are Zeus’s ill-gotten progeny from whom she resents and isolates herself.

What was the hardest death for Thanatos to reap?

Probably none. His understanding of souls extends to the idea that they will come back once they reach asphodel. Death is not the end as far as he is concerned. Merely a process. My view of the sons of Nyx (Thanatos, Hypnos and Charon included) is that they deal solely with the dead themselves and have very little connection to the human grieving process. So anyone Thanatos reaps is coming back to the world above eventually and him doing his job, at least he feels, is what makes that possible.

I often listen to music when I write, and much of that music forms the soundtrack to scenes in the book. Since I have a hard time thinking over audible words, most of my mental score comes from film.

In the last several months of writing Receiver of Many, the film score to The Fountain has been my most-listened-to by a long shot.

So here’s seven minutes of incredible for you.
