A life of renunciation and knowledge

We must always remember that a devotee’s life is one of vairagya-vidya, or
renunciation and knowledge. Therefore all devotees are warned not to live
unnecessarily luxurious lives at the cost of others. Grhasthas living within
the jurisdiction of the temple must be especially careful not to imitate
karmis by acquiring opulent clothing, food and conveyances. As far as
possible, these should be avoided. A member of the temple, whether grhastha,
brahmacari or sannyasi, must practice a life of renunciation, following in
the footsteps of Haridasa Thakura and the Six Gosvamis. Otherwise, because
maya is very strong, at any time one may become a victim of maya and fall
down from spiritual life.

War cannot be stopped

Everyone of us has got a fighting spirit. Even children fight, cats and dogs
fight, birds fight, ants fight. We have seen it. So why not human beings?
Fighting you cannot stop. Many people, they are thinking how to stop war.
That is impossible. It is nonsense proposal. It cannot be. Because the
fighting spirit is there in everyone. That is a symptom of living entity.
Even children, who has no politics, no enmity, they fight for five minutes;
again they are friends. So the fighting spirit is there.

Mayavadis are demons

Krsna states in the Bhagavad-gita (15.15), vedais ca sarvair aham eva
vedyah. When Krsna says aham, He says “I am,” which means “I,” the person.
He adds the word eva, which is used for conclusive verification. Thus by
studying Vedanta philosophy one must come to know the Supreme Person.
Whoever describes Vedic knowledge as impersonal is a demon.

The importance of proper understanding

Proper understanding of one’s constitutional position in relationship to
Krsna is so nice that it can at once lift one from the struggle for
existence which goes on in the ocean of nescience.
>>> Ref. VedaBase => Bg 4.36
No one can reach the spiritual sky (Vaikuntha) or enter into the Lord’s
eternal abode (Goloka Vrndavana) without the proper understanding of Krsna
and His plenary expansion Visnu.

incorrect public opinion

Sometimes we may do something which is approved by the general public, but
it may not be approved by the supreme authority. Superficially it may appear
very appealing to the sentiment of the public, but factually such thing may
not be correct.

Can We Accept Prasadam of Demigods?

Question:
I often encounter a problem. When I am offered demigod prasadam, it puts me in an awkward situation.

Sometimes I take a little and sometimes I say that I am fasting. What is the principle? Should we accept it or not? I heard in one Bhagavatam class by a devotee that demigods first offer food to the Lord and then honor it because they are also devotees of the Lord. Thus in one sense their prasadam is the Lord's maha-mahaprasadam. I am not sure of my understanding of that point in the lecture. Please enlighten me.
