The characters from the first book are dealing with a loss and become caught up in a conflict over a new form of slavery in the zombie apocalypse.
Something unique about it.
The characters collect music during the later stages of the zombie apocalypse. Dystopian societies are growing in pockets across America and the best and worst of people are coming forward again from religion to baseball.
The series is already mapped out for twelve books and there is a musical soundtrack of songs mentioned within the story.

Quick description of it (no spoilers)
A flash bleaches the sky of color and most of humanity drops where they stand, finding out later that a chemical weapon was released around the world. The ones that lived through the flash thought they survived, until the madness began. People began killing, causing chaos, and burning the city to the ground. The Infected went insane, growing tumors and blister all over their bodies. Survivors banded together, enduring not only the Infected, but other gruesome acts of violence.
Something unique about it.
I think it’s unique because, they’re not your traditional Zombies. They don’t turn you if you get bitten. They still have some sense of understanding and are alive. They just can’t control themselves, the chemical weapon causing them madness, instead of the typical walking dead.

The story follows a large family heading to a reunion during the beginning of a pandemic that turns into a zombie like apocalypse. They are all from different locations throughout the country. These are not highly skilled special operators, and they are not young or in excellent physical condition.
