Peter and the Little Boy Eater #snrtg #iartg #bookboost
I was perusing Facebook when I saw an e-publisher looking for manuscripts for children’s books. I thought I’d give them a look because I’ve had a children’s story I wrote about 12 or 13 years ago that I’ve never done anything with.
Website was completely devoid of any relevant information and when I go back to the FB page I notice 2 spelling errors within 10 seconds. Confidence not instilled. I guess I’ll have to keep on looking.
Make sure to come back in time for the February 24 release of Vamp Hire from Permuted Press. And pre-order Anything but Zombies, available this May from Simon & Schuster!

Ghost Stories
I got this book back way back in 1984 for Christmas. It was one of the very first non-school related books I ever received. My brother got a different book by the same publisher, but he wasn’t as big a reader as me (nerd). I loved reading the stories and re-read the one by Poe several times about the dying girl who predicted she would return as an animal, then a half-naked African boy.
I would often read this book in class rather than pay attention to whatever the teacher was saying. One day in 7th grade, I left my book beneath my desk after Mr. Greg’s class and realized I’d forgotten it several hours later. I rushed back to his class and checked beneath the desk to find it gone. I never got my book back, but I never forgot it, either. Over the next few months, I checked the shelves of all my local book stores. B. Dalton, Waldonbooks (they were owned by Barnes and Noble and Borders, but the bigger book stores hadn’t made it to southeast Michigan even though Borders was headquartered out of Ann Arbor) didn’t have a copy and with a general title like Ghost Stories nobody could locate it.
After some industrious searching, I finally found my book and ordered it. I can’t wait for this gem to arrive in the mail. Maybe I’ll read it to my daughter for bedtime.
You can grab a copy of Ghost Stories for as little as $0.01. And don’t forget about Vamp Hire, coming February 24 from Permuted Press!

The Secret’s Out for this Website
I’ve already espoused the virtues of Bookbub and more people are learning about it all the time. I just stumbled across an article on The Book Insider. Bookbub is a great site to learn about books in genres readers love and get those books at a 50%+ discount. I’ve used this site twice before and definitely will again in the future.

Next Act
So The Roof is going pretty well so far. I’ve plotted most of the first act and I’m slowly fleshing out a bunch of ideas. I have no idea to whom this project will go. I could shop it around or publish it myself. It really depends on what I have going on once I finish the first draft. It’s weird to say considering I’ve written so many zombie stories, but this will be my first full-length zombie novel.
Speaking of zombies, be on the lookout for my very first anthology (that I edited, anyway) Anything but Zombies You can reserve it on Amazon here: http://bit.ly/AbZombies.

#Review of @Tony_H1975 Lamb of God #iartg #bookboost #rzp
I reviewed an advanced reader copy of this novel from the author (whom I know personally). This is his second novel (which he collaborated with Wyatt Adams). To read my review of Frayed, go here.
The Good
The story immediately sucks you in. Mitchell Wallace is on the verge of killing himself when he sees a distressed lamb stuck in traffic. After he saves the poor beast he gets hit by a car. Things go downhill from there. A conflict of biblical proportions ensues in which the characters of the people around him are revealed (and exploited). From Mitch’s roommate who has a secret crush on him to his sister who turns into the mayor of Sluttown–even the lamb himself. Oh, he talks by the way. And drives a car.
The laughs come pretty regularly, which is an especially good thing. I don’t think a novel with a talking animal could take itself seriously and succeed. Or at least, I don’t see how this could have been written seriously. The tone is completely different from Harrington’s last, showing his breadth of mastery (unless all the funny came from Adams, in which case, scratch the credit I just gave Harrington).
The Bad
Something… happens about three-quarters into the novel. I don’t want to hint at it, but I’m not certain if it contradicts stuff or if my ADD was kicking in and I missed the clues. Regardless, I settled in with this new information like sitting in a cold chair. Give me a little bit and I was comfortable again.
And How Did I Feel About That…
This is Harrington’s second novel and Adams’ first. Not only do they collaborate well together, but they’re a modern-day Lincoln and Child. Okay, I can’t really back that up, I’ve never read those guys. But I hear they’re good and Harrington and Adams are good too. Just say their names together like that. It really rolls off the tongue. Cagney and Lacey, Turner and Hooch, Buzz and Woody–Harrington and Adams. They go together like Derek and the Domino’s “Layla” and the main theme from Goodfellas.
I write stuff too! Download a copy of my short Where the Monsters Are. Only $0.99.
