Speak Your Truth In Business & ROCK Your Career
[image error]
How many times have you bitten your tongue in a board meeting or muzzled yourself when your boss starts spouting off? How many times have you failed to speak up when you disagree with your business partner? How often have you ignored your intuition and kept your mouth shut because you're afraid of creating conflict with your clients, colleagues, or superiors?

11 Reasons To Share This Post With Every Woman You Know

I'm a gynecologist who once wrote a never-published memoir called "I Don't Do Men," so it should come as no surprise that I adore women. No - I'm not gay (though my standard "I don't do men" brush off got rid of many lecherous men in bars who hit on me with pick up lines like "Will you be my doctor?") As much as I also adore lesbians, I kind of have a thing for chest hair. And dude-shaped biker legs.
But sexual preference aside, I have ultimate respect for the awesomeness of my gender.
Women sometimes get a bad rap. We call each other "catty." We turn each other into "frenemies." They make movies about Mean Girls.

How To Step Into Your Greatness

It's so freakin' easy to play it small. And no wonder! From the time we're children, we're encouraged to let the guy win so we don't make him feel bad, to minimize our beauty so our friends won't get jealous, to tone down our genius so others won't feel threatened, to dim our light so no one feels dark in our shadow.

A Global Apology On Behalf Of Physicians Everywhere

Since I wrote this post about the doctor-patient relationship of the broken, outdated, patriarchal system, I've been inundated with emails from all of you, telling me your horror stories. (Fortunately, you're also telling me the good stuff in response to this post about the doctor-patient relationship in The Pink Medicine, so thank you for that!)

The Difference Between Healing And Curing

Welcome back to The Pink Medicine blog series, wherein I share with you my vision for a new type of health care model, a model I call "Pink Medicine." In my last post, The Difference Between Sick, Well, & Whole, I talked about my father's death and said that I learned that there is a critical difference between healing and curing. Today I want to expound a bit on that difference.
Key to my Pink Medicine model is the notion that you can heal yourself from illness, trauma, loss - whatever is holding you back from skyrocketing to the stratosphere in all aspects of your life.
But this notion is contingent upon one key bit of semantics.

Why To Make Uncertainty Your BFF

Once upon a time, back when I was about 32, I thought I knew how my life was going to turn out. I had just been promoted to full partner in a busy OB/GYN practice in San Diego, where I planned to work for the next 35 years before I retired on my big phat 401K and settled down on the beach to paint for a few years before I died.
You know what they say about the best laid plans.

The Orgasm Gap: Are Women Faking It?
Remember the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally? Harry swears that all his girlfriends are having O-O-Orgasms during sex and Sally questions his bravado. She wonders how he’s so sure his girlfriends aren't just faking it. He insists he would know. Sally then delivers an orgasmic performance that made cinematic history.
Oh - oh- oh yeah, baby.

Children Look To Parents As Sexual Role Models

In spite of what we might think, according to this study, 45% of teenagers consider their parents to be their sexuality role models. Only 32% looked to their friends and just 15% took inspiration from celebrities.

What Is Nia?

Having just returned from a week of my Nia White Belt Intensive, I'm getting a lot of questions from you, most notably "What is Nia?"
Nia is a holistic fitness program that is all about how to get in your body and how to learn to feel so you can heal (stay tuned for more posts about how to get into your body, which will share what I learned during my Nia White Belt training.) Nia originally stood for "non-impact aerobics" and evolved to mean "neuromuscular integrative action." But to me, Nia is "naturally integrated awareness."
