The Bethlehem Story!
In Bethlehem
A Christmas Cantata

by
L. A. Marzulli
This was written in the fall of 1995 and was first performed at Malibu Presbyterian Church. In Bethlehem was also performed at the Malibu Vineyard, The Church of the Nazarene, and Church of the Living Christ. It is a musical production taken straight from the Gospel account of Luke.
Years later I was finally able to get the Cantata recorded in my studio. Thanks to all who made this possible as you are listening to hundreds of hours of work by many wonderful people. It has some great moments and it is my gift to all of you… Send the link to your loved ones and friends.
The King was born, lowly in a stable, and laid in a manger. Later he would die horribly on Calvary. We celebrate His Virgin Birth but look to His sacrifice by which all men and women can be reconciled with God.
Merry Christmas:

ISIS – Threatens Churches….
by
L. A. Marzulli
[image error] http://www.vocativ.com/386579/isis-lists-u-s-churches-to-attack-during-the-holidays/
The Islamic State published the names and addresses of thousands of churches in the United States and called on its adherents to attack them during the holiday season, according to a message posted late-night Wednesday in the group’s “Secrets of Jihadis” social media group.
A user going by the name of “Abu Marya al-Iraqi” posted an Arabic-language message calling “for bloody celebrations in the Christian New Year” and announced the group’s plans to utilize its network of lone wolf attackers to “turn the Christian New Year into a bloody horror movie.”
Nothing new here, however, it does raise the question, are we at war with ISIS, or Islam, and how do we differentiate between the two? I, for one, have no answer to this.
There are millions of Muslims whom I assume would denounce this. If that’s true, where are their voices?
Then we have the ongoing terrorist attacks pretty much everywhere and most are committed by Muslim extremists crying the all-to-familiar-cry of Allah Akbar.
So ISIS puts out another hit list, a list of churches to be considered for Jihad, which translates as mass murder of innocent men, women and children.
In my opinion we are seeing the clash of civilizations. But it’s being orchestrated. The German president, Merkel, has allowed millions of so-called immigrants into her country and just this week another terrorist, using a truck, killed 12 people at a Christmas out-door mall. Another 50 people were injured.
Paris is in full War-mode, as is much of Europe. Let’s call it for what it is. If there’s no threat and everything is fine then why are the military and police out in full-force?
The current conflict can be summed up in a short quote by yours truly.
“The present political landscape is in direct correlation to supernatural events that happened, in some cases, millennia ago. “
No one wants to discuss the obvious. Two entirely different supernatural events are effecting the body-politic and the world-view of those adherents to Christianity and Islam. While the left-wing-pundits will insist that there is no clash, no Jihad, no tension between the two religions, the ongoing terrorist attacks in 2016 would indicate otherwise. The fact that ISIS rolls out a list of churches to be attacked should be taken very seriously by every pastor in the United States. Jihad has reached our shores and it’s not going away.
In the meantime, Obama continues to allow thousands of so-called immigrants from Somalia and Syria into our country. I guarantee some of the people are Jihadi’s and will eventually kill innocent Americans. Still others who come here are looking for a better life. How do we ascertain the difference?
Trump will have his hands full as Obama, it seems, has gone out of his way to destabilize our country, just like Merkel, this is why I call it orchestrated .
At some point the American people will say enough. Perhaps they already have as they elected a candidate who spoke openly of monitoring the mosques and defeating ISIS. In the meantime, be on guard….

Introduction
This book is called The Sunday Go-to-Meeting Bun, named after my blog, birthed nearly a decade ago; it is also known as, The Sunday Bun, or The Bun, interchangeably. Some of you might know where I got the name, but I’m going to assume a vast majority of you have no idea where it came from and explain.
Years ago, in the neighborhood of 1978, I was at a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. There were two acts. The headliner was Steve Martin and he was hilarious. The opening act was The Blues Brothers, featuring Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi, not to mention an amazing group of studio musicians who had come on board to be part of the group.
I was seated in the front row of the VIP section, as the woman I was dating at the time had connections—she was an aspiring actress.
Martin was incredible. I still break out in laughter when I think about him wearing the arrow-through-the head-hat; it was so sophomoric and yet so funny.
The Blues Brothers took the stage, and Belushi cartwheeled the length of the stage and back again before landing in front of his microphone. Ackroyd carried the mysterious black brief case and positioned himself next to Belushi.
The band was tight; even though the songs were cover tunes, they were played really well.
About half way through the concert, Belushi handed the lead singing over to Ackroyd who sang a song that has to do with the name of the book: The name of the song is “Rubber Biscuit.” This classic, nonsensical doo-wop song was originally recorded by The Chips in 1956. There’s a clip from around 1978 preserved on YouTube of The Blues Brothers performing this song, and I have provided a link to it so you can see it for yourself. Here are the lyrics:
Rubber Biscuit
By: Charles Johnson and Adam R Levy
Bow bow bow… Um, do that again Bow bow bow…
Have you ever heard of a wish sandwich? A wish sandwich is the kind of a sandwich where you have two slices of bread and you, hee hee hee, wish you had some meat
Bow bow bow…
Um, the other day I had a ricochet biscuit A ricochet biscuit is the kind of a biscuit that’s supposed to bounce back to the wall into your mouth If it don’t bounce back, you go hungry!
Bow bow bow…
Umm, umm, umm, the other day I had a cool water sandwich
and a Sunday go-to-meetin’ bun Bow bow bow…
Hee hee hee hee… What do ya want for nothing, a rubber biscuit? Bow bow bow…
As you can see, it’s a silly song but, in my opinion, very entertaining.
So, Ackroyd is singing the song and comes to the part where he says: …and a Sunday go-to-meeting bun! Bow, bow, bow…
This phrase, go-to-meeting, which originated in the 1780s, hails back to an- other era and perhaps a simpler way of life where we didn’t think about or know words like Jihad, Terrorists, suicide bombings, TSA pat-downs, transgender bath-rooms, Snowflakes, gay marriage, abortion on demand, partial birth abortion, late-term abortion, and the selling of body parts by Planned Parenthood. The term politically correct hadn’t been invented yet.
However, the country was still racially divided as the south was still fighting the civil war and the North was segregated.
When The Chips recorded the song in 1956, Billy Graham packed venues with his crusades and most people said Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. We faced a cold war with the Russians that threatened to destroy all life on this planet with nuclear weapons. Vietnam was heating up as well as what would become the United States hegemony, with more than eight hundred military bases around the world.
I never forgot the words to the song, and when I married Peggy, my wifey of thirty-two years and counting, I would sing it out loud in the house. She always cracks up when I sing it and joins in the bow-bow-bow part.
However, The Sunday Go-to-Meeting Bun is more than a silly lyric from an old song: It’s food for our souls. The Bun, like a light breakfast of a donut and a cup of coffee, was meant to be a spiritual snack, not a full meal, although there are some Buns that are, in my opinion, a steak dinner.
I tried to keep them short and pithy and most of them are around six hun- dred words or so.
The Lord gives me a lot of them when I’m running, which I do at least three or four times a week. When I get back to the car, I write them down on my notes so I won’t forget them, then Saturday night or Sunday morning, I create The Sunday Bun and post it on the blog.
The topics covered in The Bun are wide-ranging, and this book, which is a compilation of the blog entries from 2013 and 2014, is meant to be read slowly— there is a lot to think about and to “feast” on in these pages—so don’t stuff yourself! At the end of the book, I’ve also included my testimony.
I hope this book draws you closer to Jesus: It’s all about Him. No matter where you are in your walk with Him, know that He loves you and is keeper of your soul.
For nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus – Romans 8:39

Sunday Go to Meeting Bun!
Sunday Bun
by
L. A. Marzulli
Thou Oh Lord are a SHIELD about me. (Psalm 3: 3)
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. (Psalm 18:2)
When the enemy comes in Like a flood, the battle belongs to the Lord… (1 Sam. 17:47)
When we are attacked by the enemy of our souls, the one who comes to rob, kill and destroy us, we are admonished, by Paul, to put on our armor. (Read Ephesians 6) This is something I do daily and sometimes throughout the day. When we put on our armor we are putting on Jesus. He is our salvation, our righteousness, our truth, our peace, the author and finisher of our faith, and He is The Word of God.
There something else that hit me when I was going through a very severe attack recently. These usually come as unwanted thoughts and can be very disconcerting as they come from nowhere. These are, in my opinion the fiery darts that Paul talks about.
These thoughts had come in like a flood and it was at this moment, The Spirit of the Living God impressed upon me this praise song: Thou oh Lord are a shield about me. Then, He gave me the other two scriptures.
What impressed me was this. The Lord Himself is our shield. He is the one who covers us as we are really no match for enemy on our own. It is His power, His might that we call upon. It is His battle not ours. Yes, we have authority in Jesus. I understand that, but in the end it is He who is our rock, our high tower, our fortress, who is a shield about us.
So with that in mind. Whatever it is that faces us we must understand that He is our shield. He will protect us and save us and He will present us before His presence with singing.
Are you being attacked? Pray out loud: Lord, be my shield today. Cover me. Set me apart and bring your peace to me so that I may serve you and the people you bring across my path.
Thou, Oh Lord are a shield about me!
Please continue to pray:
Jane – Healing.
Rose – Healing.
Rick – Healing.
