INDIEpendence Author of the day!

Book title: Replay
Author: Keira Lea
Short Blurb: Kelsee Lewis has a new school, a prima donna best friend, and one week to write a hit play. Throw in a self-obsessed mom and an absent executive dad, and it’s no wonder she has panic attacks—complete with time-warp special effects. When Kelsee meets comic book maven Quinn, she realizes the attacks give her the ability to rewind time. Replaying life seems like the best way to erase mistakes. But will second chances leave Kelsee flailing in the orchestra pit alone?

Book link:

When did you know you wanted to be an author? I wrote my first short story in third grade. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be an author.

Why do you Indie publish? I love the creative freedom. Traditional publishing companies must consider the cost, potential profit, and the market when selecting manuscripts to publish. On my own, I publish what I want, and I take all the risk. I answer only to my readers and myself.

What inspired you to write your book? Kelsee's character came to me first. After I got to know her, the story simply grew around her.

What are three things you want people to know about you or your book? I love hairless cats; I’m pretty sure they love me, too. People with electric blue hair fascinate me. I have to remind myself at least once a week that characters on my favorite TV shows are not real.

What advice do you have for parents to encourage their kids to read more? My parents let me read any book that I wanted. This gave me a sense of freedom that I relished when I was young. I do the same with my two daughters. If they ever come across subject matter that bothers them, we talk about it. The combination of freedom of choice and open communication encourages my daughters to read more than anything else I've done as a parent.

Fire Up the Future Giveaway!

Firewidget

The future is weird. Trust me, I’ve been there. In Priscilla the Great: The Time Traveling Bullet, I accidentally slip twenty-five years into the future and the world is totally freaky. A robot has the number one song in the world, Pepsi owns my middle school and the Pittsburgh Pirates are World Series Champions! Crazy right? Thankfully, I’m back in the present where the number one song only sounds like a robot and isn't an actual one. Oh, and the Pirates still break my heart every year with their loseriness (is that word?) Anyway, so what about you? What do you think the world will be like in twenty-five years? Fill out the form below, tell me three things about the future and you’ll be entered to win a Kindle Fire!

X is for Specimen Xi

Yeah, I'm kind of late on this one. I totally couldn't think of anything to do for X. I have no idea how I could for get about my arch enemy Specimen Xi from the Priscilla the Great books. Maybe I just hate her so much I try to erase her from my mind as soon as possible. Anyway, here is a little about that psycho with pink hair...or purple...or whatever color it is today.

Xi is a genetically enhanced human from the Selliwood Institute. Besides being totally evil, someone must have shaken the test tube she was created in a few too many times because she’s also completely insane. But, hey, at least her hair looks cool. Who knew blue highlights could work?

Follow Friday

Gain New Blog FollowersQ: Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.
This happens to me all the time. The most recent time was when I read Something Borrowed. I hated everyone in that book. They were a bunch of annoying, whiny people who were bad friends to each other. I could never imagine hanging out with any of them. I didn't even give the sequel a chance. Maybe I should. It couldn't get any worse.RULESTo join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
(Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}(Required) Follow our Featured BloggersPut your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followedFollow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. Y is also for Yu Darvish

I think I'm in love with the new pitcher for the Texas Rangers. He's gorgeous and an awesome athlete. So, basically, he's perfect. Look out Ryan Reynolds...I'm starting to think I might love Yu even more.

And what a great name. Seriously, I LOVE YU!
