Construction Zone: Down to the Bones
I've talked about this before, but now that I've actually completed revisions on a story where I put it to a big test, I wanted to revisit the idea. When I need to rework a sentence in my work, I've been using novels (any novel), to find a sentence that is similar to what I want mine to be, and using the grammatical structure to rework my own sentence. I use traditionally published novels for this for two reasons: I can be sure that even though it's probably not perfect, it's had a...

Weekly News & Goals 8/9/10
Hey, did you notice today's date is consecutive numbers? Fun stuff for a Monday...
The big news this week is that the paperback of Tempest is now available for pre-order . Payment is through Paypal (shouldn't need an account – let me know if it says otherwise), and the pre-orders will be for a print copy (signed or unsigned) plus a free digital copy. I was going to wait to mail out coupon codes for the digital download until next Monday, but decided that if you're going to pre-order the...

Musing On Blog Topics
Part of it is my blog reading "needs" are changing. This is a bit hard to admit because I hate to think it might offend...but I'm overdosed on the writing craft for the most part. I still like the occasional craft...

Indelibly Inked, Chapter 31
Indelibly Inked
Chapter 31
Claire heard the door to the bedroom close, and let out a long, slow sigh. Grateful for the darkeness that hid a furious blush, she gathered her sweats and shirt, briefly contemplating putting them on without underthings...

Everyday Romance: Romance, Mood, and Expectations
I read an article a few months ago (can't remember where) about how men whose wives read romance novels get more sex. As you may have guessed, those men had no objection to their wives reading a lot and some even went so far as to finance the library. No shock there.
I also read an article more recently (again, I can't remember where – apologies for not citing my sources), about how some people think that romance novels lead people (specifically women) to have too high of expectations as...

Construction Zone: Post Revision Notes
Now that I've officially finished a set of revisions, I thought I'd share some of the things I found notable along the way. Obviously, your mileage may (and probably will) vary...
Good first drafts are like gold. Compared to Her Private Chef, which I am currently completely rewriting (and trying desperately not to lose interest in), the Tempest draft was far more coherent, with no veering off from the main plot, no "hey, think I'll add this mid-stream", no characters jumping in...

Weekly News & Goals 8/2/10
Happy August! Wow, that got here fast...
So the big news is, I'm done with the Tempest revisions. And good riddance, I say. I have about a zillion other projects to work on, and I'll be perfectly happy to get this one published and get back to work on those other things.
One of which is The Biker's Wench...apologies that chapter 3 was delayed as well. I simply had to get Tempest done, so that had to wait. For anyone who isn't following my fan page on Facebook , if you don't want to wait...

Author Interview: Jeffe Kennedy

When did you decide to pursue writing seriously?
1996. I decided then that I really wanted a career as a writer and took my first writing class. I started out writing essays and my first piece was published in the winter of 1997. My definition of "serious" has evolved over that time...
