Six Sentence Sunday
A couple of weeks ago, I introduced a little piece of this dystopia/pirate/fantasy thing I've been playing around with. This week's sentences happen not long after that snippet.
Grinding his teeth, he forced the very tempting thoughts away. If he didn't get out of there, they would capture him. And that was something he would not allow. No woman, no matter how sweet, was worth the risk. He lowered his face close to hers and against every bit of his will, his insides twitched as her lavender scent filled his head. "If I raise my hand, are you going to scream?" he asked.
This week's Six Sentence Sunday is better than ever, so be sure to check out the OFFICIAL SITE and indulge in all of this week's truly fantastic sentences.

Saturday Video – Men of the X-Files
In exactly three weeks, I'll be going to New York to see David Duchovny in Break of Noon. I'm starting to get really, really excited about it and it got me thinking about how he was really my very first future ex-husband (long before Hugh Jackman) and how much I loved the X-Files. So this week's video is a tribute to the super awesome men of the X-Files.

I'm an Addict
I have a problem. I just cannot control myself and my addiction is beginning to take over my life. I go out of my way to get the substance of my desire, I rationalize it, I creatively manage my finances so that I can go on affording the object of my obsession.
I am addicted to Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
And the worst part about it is, I am NOT a fru-fru-faux-coffee-sweet-drink-mightaswellbeamilkshakebutwe'llpassitoffascoffee kind of girl. I'm really not. I like my coffee strong and bold and with a little cream. That's it. Coffee and cream.
And yet I can't get enough of the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
The first sip and a smile begins to form on my face. My cheeks heat and a pleasant warm, tingling goodness fills my belly. Suddenly the world seems like a happier, brighter place and I am transformed from a grumpy, cranky morning mess into a fun-loving beacon of smiles and joy, ready to be the sunshine in everyone's day.
Seriously.
Well, kinda.
Anyway, you get the point.
My only consolation is that they are only around for a limited time. Otherwise, I might have to do something drastic to afford my addition.

Husband of the Week
I've decided that THIS man is going to my future ex-husband once I am done with Hugh Jackman. His name is Nelson Ribeiro.
Ian Somerhalder and Carlos Freire are hot, no question about that, but they have been replaced.

Moonlight and Merlot
The continuing saga of the lives, loves and heartbreaks of the residents of Dion Valley, CA.
As with all the best things in life, this is for adults only.
*****
Lela dreamed.
The night was cold and the smell of fresh earth was heavy in the air. She was chanting, head thrown back, screaming the words of the ancient spell. She raised her hands to the stars, the wind whipping around her, snatching the words from her mouth. The night turned darker, but that was all right. He was coming.
The candles on the Alter flickered, danced, but she knew they would not blow out no matter how strong the wind gusted. Zach and Nick stood on either side of her and Phoebe was across the way, their faces hidden in shadow.
Over and over she repeated the words, pouring all her desire and energy and very soul into every syllable. Darkness came down hard and she could no longer see the stars.
"Lela?"
A word spoken in a voice that was familiar though far, far away. A word with no meaning in this place. No resonance. There was only the spell, the need, the rush of power and the ever darkening night. There was only the presence from beyond, the one that called and beckoned and cajoled.
"Lela."
Shaking movement, but she would not be distracted, must not be distracted. This was important. She no longer even knew the words she spoke and though on some level she realized that this was in fact a dream and not happening at all, it did not change the fervent necessity in her chest that she must go on, must continue, must finish what she had began.
"Lela!"
Nick. The voice belonged to Nick. But not the dream Nick, the Nick that stood by her side in the darkness. That Nick was just smiling. Smiling and smiling and smiling. Beautiful and angelic and filled with mad, dangerous glee.
"Lela, get up now!"
And the world shook and moved and faded and Lela fought as she torn from the darkness and brought struggling and resisting into the light.
The morning light was bright, painful, and Lela groaned as she rolled over in the bed trying to get away from it.
"Are you all right?"
Lela opened one eye and looked at Nick. He sat up in bed beside her, his gorgeous, hard chest naked in the morning light and Lela suddenly remembered that she was also naked, that they were naked together, and she smiled recalling all the fun they'd had last night.
"Nick," she said, and reached out her hand to him.
He took her hand and held tight. "You scared me."
"I did?" she asked, shifting in bed to snuggle against him. "How?"
"You wouldn't wake up," he said, taking her into his arms. "And you were…" He shook his head. "Moaning. Maybe even talking."
The dream was still fresh and vivid in her mind, but something told her it was best not to mention it. "Huh," she said, wrapping her legs around his waist. "Really? That's weird."
"Are you sure you're all right?" he asked.
"Fine," she said, though she wasn't quite sure. All that power. The memory of it burned inside her. She kissed him lightly, then harder and smiled to herself when she felt him stir beneath her.
[Until next Tuesday…]

Six Sentence Sunday
This week's sentences come from a little piece of flash fiction called The Local Laundromat that I wrote a few months ago. And I do mean flash, the entire thing is under 1,000 words.
Here are six sentences (okay, seven) from the story:
When you hand him the bottle, you purposefully/accidentally brush your fingertips over his. A feather-light touch, but it is electric. And with that momentary jolt, you know that you could have awesome, mind-blowing sex with this man. It's a chemistry thing, an instinctual thing, a knowledge on the most primal level. And you know. You know, you know, you know he is going to have a delicious cock. You know it in your… well, not soul exactly, but somewhere really, really deep.
If you'd like, you can read the entire thing right here: THE LOCAL LAUNDROMAT. It's totally free and you don't even have to vote!
Make sure to check the official Six Sentence Sunday site for this week's exciting excerpts. A lot of really great authors participate. Don't miss out!
