Wallachia
November 25, 1431
She swam in an ocean of blood.
The exhausted, dark-haired mother howled in pain and freedom as the crown of a baby’s head emerged from between her legs. The woman panted and heaved, thrashing her sweat and gore-drenched body from side to side. Snow mixed with thunder and rain lashed the tower of the family castle, chilling the already icy room.
Vlad Dracul crouched at her feet, his face stiff and set under his moustache. His outstretched fingers curled into fists and opened again as he waited for the infant to emerge. Blankets, rags, and a pot of steaming water at his elbow kept him company. His jaw clenched with every echoing scream and his shoulders tightened with every passing moment. Not even the usual rushing of the river below covered the cries of Cneajna, his wife.
The violent storm outside had prevented the midwife’s presence. Earlier in the night, the mother had demanded that only Vlad remain with her as the pain worsened. No one defied Cneajna, even as water and blood rushed down her legs and painted her body. Vlad knew, however, that the women of the castle waited in the downstairs chamber, ready to help if he called. He was absurdly grateful for their nearness.
Fearless in the face of death, Vlad had nearly fainted at the sight of his wife in labor. The smell of the birth blood that saturated the bed roiled his stomach in ways a festering abdominal wound never did.
Another contraction. She pulled the ropes tied to the fur-lined headboard of the birth bed. The wood groaned under her strength as wave after wave of labor shuddered her body. Vlad’s heart winced at his woman’s pale, sweating face.
Another scream shook the room and Vlad saw the first peep of a black-haired head. Under the power of the mother’s undulating body, a tiny, angry face emerged.

Insanity – It’s Time for MAX
I am now entering the final stretch of the program, the “hard part” where things are supposed to get truly insane. Because all that stuff before was so damn easy and completely rational.
I think my hardcoreness is about to be put to a serious test.

Six Sentence Sunday
Here are six from my friends to lovers WiP tentatively titled, Caught Between the Moon and Brooklyn.
The tattoo had been yet another random, impulsive decision, much like agreeing to this blind date. She and Dean had been eating lunch at their desks one afternoon, her mind wandering as she tore into her Cubano sandwich. Kat couldn’t even imagine what was going on in the apartment across the way, but there was a huge Cheshire cat grin painted on their window. That grin made her wonderfully happy and she turned to Dean and said, “I think I want to get a tattoo that says, ‘We’re all mad here’.” He looked up from his skinless, boneless, broiled chicken breast, smiled, and said, “‘You must be or you wouldn’t have come here’.” She was pretty sure that was the exact moment he became her best friend in the whole world.

This is a contemporary romance, a mystery, a quirky tale of life and the things people do for love, erotic but character driven. It is for 18+ only and contains explicit sex in the love scenes. Romance for men and for women in this story told about the brothers and their love lives.

Kind hearted Jet feels trapped in a job he doesn’t like.
Dynamic, creative Falcon loves his work.
Jet longs for something different in his life. When he meets Emma, he thinks that after their night of delightful lovemaking he has found it. He longs to see her after that night. Does she feel the same?
Jet begins to change his life, but it’s worrying and time consuming. His luck is about to change when Annabel kisses him in the local pub garden. Her sexual advances at first shock Jet until he lets himself relax into her passionate ways.

Excerpt
She walked straight up to him smiling and lightly kissed his cheek.
“Sorry to be late Jet the traffic coming out of the city was naturally horrendous. How are you?” She seemed to be so confident and at ease that Jet felt a little inadequate. He smiled back at her.
“Good yes and how was your office hunting?” He heard himself say as he noticed she was wearing a little more eye makeup than when he had first met her. It looked good and made those pretty, blue-green eyes look even bigger. Her lips were a different shade of pink too, like crushed raspberries. Jet asked her if she would like a drink, but instead they ordered food and went to the restaurant area to wait for it. Jet found them a table by the window, which looked out onto the climbing roses that were a profusion of different shades of cream, and yellow, on the lattice fence outside.
They looked at each other for a moment and Emma felt a flutter of desire as she noticed how well Jet’s shirt fit across his chest, and how his blue eyes seemed even more blue than she remembered. Jet swallowed as he saw the desire in her eyes. She wanted him it was obvious, and he felt an answering warmth low in his stomach.
Although they talked about Emma’s work and her quest to find premises for her business, their eyes gave other messages. Emma wanted to kiss Jet, and he wanted to hold her face in his hands and kiss her back. Emma wanted to run her hands through his clean, dark hair, and Jet wanted to take the tortoiseshell comb from her hair and have it tumble down over his bare skin. Emma wanted to unbutton his shirt and trace her fingertips over the muscles of Jet’s chest. Jet wanted to push down the sleeves of Emma’s dress and expose her creamy shoulders to his soft kisses. By the time they had coffee they had decided to give it a chance.
When Jet asked where Emma was staying she smiled.
“I have a room but I don’t need to use it”, she said softly.
Jet replied equally softly.
“Shall we go back to my cottage and have another cup of coffee?”
Emma smiled. “Okay”.
They went out to their cars and Emma followed Jet home.
By the time he was opening the front door for them Jet was nervous again, and started to make coffee talking about the miserable spring weather they were having so far.
Emma knew he was nervous and went to stand close to him.
She took his hand from the coffee cup he was holding, put the cup on the nearby table, and pulled him close.
Jet watched her expression as she slid her arms around his neck and turned her face up to kissed.
Jet put his arms around her waist and held her close as he bent his head and found her lips with his. It was the first time he had kissed a girl in a long time with the prospect of making love to her, and the feel of her soft lips set his heart racing. He kissed her for a long time, and then when he moved back a little Emma made a little sound of protest, and pulled his head gently back to hers kissing his cheek, the side of his mouth and then his lips again. They smiled at each other as Emma began to unbutton his shirt and Jet began to nuzzle her neck and took the comb from her hair. They held each other’s hand as Jet took Emma to his bedroom.
Emma held her hair away from her back and Jet unzipped her dress, following it down her back with kisses on her satiny skin. He pushed the dress down her arms and hips, and turned her around to kiss her breasts, the tops of which swelled a little in her pretty, lemon colored, lacy bra. Emma gasped as she felt his delicious wet kisses on her breasts and found the fastening of his jeans to open.
When Emma unzipped Jet’s jeans and pushed her cool fingers into his boxer shorts to curl them around his already thickening length, Jet caught hold of her face and kissed her mouth until they were both dazed with desire.
They finished undressing quietly with little smiles and kisses until they lay against each other on Jet’s bed, skin to skin, and lips to lips. Jet closed his eyes and pulled her hips against his to press against her soft stomach with his hardness.
Emma traced the seam of his lips with her tongue until Jet opened his mouth and touched his tongue to hers. They deepened their kiss as Jet traced his fingers over her hip, her stomach, and down between her legs to feel the dampness welcoming him. He sighed as he put a finger gently into her, and Emma nibbled at his bottom lip and began to trail her fingers over his stomach, and down to stroke his inner thighs. Jet bent his head to kiss her nipples, and move his finger in her softly, slowly until he felt her grasp his hips and pull him towards her body. Jet smiled, gentle, and sighing, moving to kiss her mouth, as he found she wanted more. He felt her moving against his hand, and her kiss was urgent.
