25 Travel to Picket Line
On September 2, about 25 people from the Pioneer Valley and other parts of western Massachusetts traveled to the picket line of the nurses' strike in Worcester, Massachusetts. “It was great,” Rose Bookbinder told the Valley Post. She organized the trip and she works for the union that represents the striking nurses. The union's web site is www.MassNurses.org.

Civil Disobedience
About 70 people attended a Springfield rally on August 24. The organizers said, “Congress is finalizing the big infrastructure and recovery package, with trillions of dollars at stake. Let’s push them to invest in climate solutions, care workers, jobs, and justice.” The rally was outside 300 State Street. A Victory for Nature
In Deerfield, Massachusetts, near Greenfield, activists defeated a multi-billion dollar corporation on August 12. The company wanted to pave open space. “I’m relieved that Dollar General has decided not to further attempt to build in Deerfield on the site that has been in discussion for three years. There are so many positive things in the works for Deerfield, it will be a relief not to have this issue pull time and attention to it anymore,” Julie Cavacco told the Valley Post on August 13, 2021....

Workers Win
In Vermont, February 2015 broke records for coldest temperatures ever recorded. During that month hundreds of workers stood outside on picket lines, all day, every day. They were on strike for justice. They work for the monopoly landline phone company in the state. Eventually the workers won the four month strike, and a good union contract.

In Springfield on July 31 there was march to call on the commissioner of the city's police department to resign. About 50 people were at the march, Juanita Batchelor told the Valley Post. In Greenfield on July 31 about 50 people attended a rally to protest cutting down forests in Massachusetts to put up solar panels. The panels can go on roofs of big box stores, warehouses, and other buildings, and on top of parking lots.
