Lunch Money

A personal favorite of mine; I learned to drive in a 1968 Ford F250. This beauty was parked outside the place where a friend and I were grabbing lunch — and I didn’t have my sketch pad! But there were those tiny little lottery pencils up by the register, and there were placemats. That was good enough for me. As I finished the sketch, the waiter saw it and asked if he could show the truck’s owner. I took a picture and then told the waiter he could give it to him. The truck’s owner was very appreciative — and that quick sketch paid for my lunch.

This beauty was going into the water when I spotted her, and I had my oils and some canvases in the car. I captured what I could before she and I both had to move. Another one for the ‘maybe I’ll finish it in the studio’ pile.

The sun was shining bright and the sky was blue when I started. An hour later it all went dark and began thundering so I had to pack up. Came back later and both my subjects had been launched. I’ll go back in the studio and add some stands under them, but that’s about it… I’m happy with this one as is.
