Cape-Abil-A-Bog

Off Route 28, down behind the Cape-Abilities Thrift Shop there’s a beautiful cranberry bog with trails you can walk while the harvest is going on. My friends and I refer to that as the Cape-Abil-A-Bog, and on the particular day I was walking with the dogs, this aluminum boat was drifting in a sea of pink. I painted this the next morning, while the colors were still fresh in my mind.

Two Goldens in an old Whaler

It doesn’t get any more quintessentially Cape Cod than two happy old dogs in an old Boston Whaler. I was fishing last summer when I saw this idling past and thought, “That’s my kind of painting.”

Wrong Exit

Sometimes, when you’re traveling, you take the wrong exit. On one particular day, as I was about to U-turn and get back on course, I spotted this lovely home. There was an empty parking space across the street, and I quickly set up my paints and captured the light and shadows defining the stunning architecture.

You don’t see this every day. Apparently, this Buick sat hidden within a barn from some point in the 1930s, with bullet holes in the back end. This car has seen things.
