Reviews

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I stuffed myself. Now that I am awake from my food coma, I've actually gotten some work done. I was excited to hear from a lady who is part of a book club near the town I live. She told me that her book club has picked The Guardian for their December read. Yay!! Also, I have another book blogger (Elysian Fields) that is going to do a review and giveaway! Yay!!
So yes, I am very excited!!

But today I wondered what else can I do for my book? I have known for a long while about Kirkus and their book reviews. I have been contemplating this all day because for one you have to pay for it, and two, does it really help? What do you think?
Well until next time, but please give me your honest opinion.

Busy Little Bee

Oh my goodness, how time flies. Well, in my defense I have been a busy little bee these past several weeks.

My last book review was from a wonderful book blogger at www.olivia-savannah.blogspot.com. I was so AMAZED to have 456 people enter my giveaway! Now, I'm sure there are other authors who probably have had more, but for me, that was just mind blowing. I was geeking out about it so much that I posted the results on my fan page on facebook. People were probably hoping I would put a sock in it already. Oh well, I was happy.

Now the story doesn't end there. Nope! I was actually invited to be a featured Literary Artist in a town near where I live. (You may have seen it on my Events section) Anyway, they had all kinds of Art on their 'Main St.', and I was ectstatic to have all my books sold before the Event finished. Yay!! The local book club even nominated my book 'The Guardian' to be their next read! (I celebrated with a candy apple)
I only wish I could post the pictures here, but if you want to check them out, I do have them on the fan page. www.facebook.com/LydiaGuardian.
Well, until next time! Oh, and have a great Thanksgiving!!

What an AMAZING RIDE!!

Just like the title says, "What an AMAZING RIDE!!"

It has been one crazy ride being an author so far. The people I have had the privilege of meeting are from around the WORLD!! I know for a fact that in my boring ordinary life, I would never have met such interesting people, and I would now like to introduce them to you.

First is Kimberly Castillo from here in the states who is not only a book blogger, but also a publish author. You can visit her at www.kimberlycastillosbooks.blogspot.com.

Next is Tanya Marie a book blogger. She is a wonderful young woman from the UK who is going to university for Literature, and aspires to be an author herself. www.tanyasimagination.blogspot.co.uk

Another wonderful book blogger is Laura W. who also finds the time to blog and go to university here in the States. She recently did a Giveaway for me. www.blueeyebooks.blogspot.com

My latest friend Ognian comes all the way from Bulgaria. Yeah Bulgaria!! He is a sports commentator and an author. He recently contacted me to do an author interview which I did happily. You should go check it out www.ogigeorgiev.wordpress.com.

Last, but definately not least, is Olivia. She will be posting her book review on THE GUARDIAN at the end of October on her blog. She is also an amazing young woman who finds the time to blog and go to university in The Netherlands. She has some pretty interesting and insightful blogs www.olivia-savannah.blogspot.com

Isn't it amazing how well traveled my book is? Wow!! I am so jeolous! No really. On my fanpage facebook.com/LydiaGuardian, there are people from Australia and Canada who post too.
Well, I'm off to see where else my book has traveled. You know what? If you are reading this blog, please leave your location on the comments just for giggles. Let's see how far this blog goes. Thanks everybody!! Until next time.

Author Page

Lydia Rodriguez-ClementHello again! Well, I've been extremely busy that I totally forgot to tell you all that I have an Amazon Author Page now! I know, shoot me!!
The page is http://www.amazon.com/author/lydiarcg.... I wanted something better, but 'the coolest book you will ever read and want to tell the whole world about it' was too long. hehe.
Anyway, I will now ask you to ignore your wonderful family, friends, and significant other to shamefully ask, "Please visit, LIKE and SHARE my page." I know, I have no shame.

Well until next time! Oh, and remember, you can always visit me at http://www.facebook.com/LydiaGuardian to view some pics that pertain to the book, Google+ under Lydia Clement, and follow me on twitter @lydiaclement6.

Support & Hope

Support - what can you say? Everybody needs it, but not everybody gives it.
As many of you all know, I am fairly new to goodreads and to the author/publishing world for that matter. It is a learning on the job experience. I suppose there is no other way to learn this field of work but on the job. Like I have said before, "It is a labor of love." But sometimes you just need a helping hand, someone to share a tip, and or give a word of encouragement.
Fortunately, I have found exactly all of that here on Goodreads. This place is a wonder! I have met book bloggers, who like me, are just trying to find there little niche among this vast sea of creative and talented people. Book bloggers like Tanya Marie from www.tanyasimagination.blogspot.com, and Laura W. from www.blueeyebooks.blogspot.com who are willing to give an Indie writer a chance to be read and reviewed.
I have also met amazing authors like Dante Craddock, whose event was a huge success and was willing to share. It just warmed my heart to see so many authors supporting each other no matter whose idea it was, or whose event it was. This place has given me hope.

An Amazing Morning!

I woke up this morning expecting the usual; send the kids to school, clean the house, and then, try to make time for writing. But when I opened the side door to walk my kids to the bus stop, a cool breeze greeted us. It was clear that the Fall season had arrived. (my favorite)

I was so exhilirated by the cool air that I "power walked" back with childish enthusiasm. I made me a hot cup of coffee, grabbed me a sweet biscuit, and opened the french doors to the back yard. I sat down on my cushy chair and enjoyed my morning thoroughly.

There was no doubt in my mind, at that moment, that it could not get any better until...until I opened up my Goodreads App. I found that Laura W. had posted her book review for THE GUARDIAN late last night. To my delight, it was another 4 STAR review!!

I have been on cloud 9 ever since. I have been blessed to have TWO 4 STAR ratings now, and by book bloggers too! I know I have some issues to work on, but for someone like me (self published and only minimal writing education), it is amazing!! I hope that you all take the time to read Laura W.'s review, as well as, Tanya Marie's on my goodreads profile. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Until next time. Oh and here are their blog sites.

Made me think

A couple of weeks ago I had come across a post on my personal facebook from an Author friend that made me think. She posted that someone asked her, "If you could speak to anyone, dead or living, famous or not, who would it be?"

I found the question intriguing. Her answer was herself, but like many of us, I talk to myself quite often. (laughing, but it's true) The scary part, is sometimes I answer back. Anyway, like I said, the question intrigued me. I didn't reply to her post because it really made me think.

As a writer the first person I thought of was, of course, another Author like Jane Austen or Hemingway. But then again, we already have biographies on them. So, then I thought of meeting an ancestor. Someone who can fill in my Ancestry dot com leaves. But again I thought, that would only take an hours conversation and I have so many questions about everything!

It took me, well, several days and I came up with the perfect person FOR ME. Imagine speaking to Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God himself. All the answers to all the questions you ever had right at your fingertips. I could ask questions like: Is there life on other planets? What was God thinking when he created mosquitos? To questions about my ancestors, and serious ones like religion. What a day that would be!

So, now I ask you... if you could speak to anyone, dead or living, famous or not, who would it be? Can't wait to read your answers! Until next time.

Time

Yep, where does time go? I have been having a most difficult time, making time, to write or read. Oh the injustice!!

It is just more fun for writers/readers to be immersed in the lives of our characters/books than real life sometimes. Real life has too many responsibilities, appointments, and flaws. Flaws like having to eat and sleep, which would give us all much more time if we didn't need it. But, we need to sleep, and I love the taste of food so that's pretty much out of the question. As for the rest, well, I suppose I must adhere to a strict schedule and find time. The only problem with that is that I write when inspired, and not because it is time to write.

Anyway, thank you for reading my ramblings. At least I found time to update my blog. Until next time.

Bloggers

Wow! What a start to this week! Yesterday I read my very first Book Review by Tanya Marie. She is an awesome up and coming blogger at tanyasimagination.blogspot.com. I have to admit I was on pins and needles.

Let me just say that bloggers play an important role for Authors. Their reviews do not only critique our work so that we may better our writing skills, but can also boost sales. I am truly grateful that there are such people, who for the love of the written word, devote their time and efforts to read the books, write a review, and then post the reviews. It is a tremendous undertaking.

For any Authors out there looking for Bloggers to review their books, I highly recommend Tanya Marie. I also have had the pleasure of working with Kimberly Castillo at kimberlycastillobooks.blogspot.com who will be doing a Book Spotlight for me in November.

Now, as far as my book review, Tanya Marie gave THE GUARDIAN 4 stars out of 5! Whew! For the complete review, please visit her blog. So, now I can enjoy the rest of my week by getting back to work. Until next time!
