Marcin Ciszewski jest absolwentem Instytutu Historii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, ze specjalizacją historia najnowsza. Od lat, choć nie uprawia historii zawodowo, pasjonuje się przebiegiem II wojny światowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kampanii wrześniowej.
Przed pisarskim debiutem w 2008 roku pracował jako muzyk, dziennikarz muzyczny Programu III Polskiego Radia, a także specjalista od nieruchomości. Trenował taekwondo, boks tajski i narciarstwo alpejskie.
