Signing Tour Update and Another Stop on the Blog Tour
I had a fun signing last night at one of the nicest bookstores I've ever seen -- The Fountain Bookstore in Richmond, Virginia. Kelly, the shop owner was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly nice, and we had a small but enthusiastic group of fans show up. Great fun. Today I drive to Charlottesville, Virginia where I will be signing this evening at Oakley's Gently Used Books. Hope to see some of you there.
In the meantime, the Summer 2013 Thieves' Quarry Blog Tour continues with a stop at the blog of Stephen Leigh. I first met Steve years ago at RiverCon in Louisville Kentucky. We hit it off right away and have remained close friends in the years since. Steve shares my passion for research and for writing historical fantasy, so naturally that's what I wrote about for the post. I hope you enjoy it.July 9, 2013
Blog Tour Appearance, Signing Tour, and a Change
Today the Summer 2013 Thieves' Quarry Blog Tour stops in to visit with my good friend and colleague Benjamin Tate. (AKA Joshua Palmatier) We did an interview, with some interesting questions -- and you can find it here.
Meanwhile, the Summer 2013 Thieves' Quarry Signing Tour is in Richmond, Virginia today. I will be signing copies of Thieftaker and Thieves' Quarry (and whatever else you might want me to sign) this evening at Fountain Bookstore in Richmond, beginning at 6:30. If you're in the area, stop by and say hello.
Finally, the Blog Tour Schedule says that I am also supposed to be at Bitten By Books today, for an all day event and gift card giveaway. That event has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, July 16. Hope to see you all there.July 8, 2013
Off to the Signing Tour as the Blog Tour Resumes
And I will also be answering a few questions today from my friend Brandy Schillace, who I have already visited once on this year’s Blog Tour. I am most grateful to Brandy for having me back on her site, which is here.
I hope that you will check out both posts. And I hope to see some of you this week during the signing tour. More from the road as it happens.

An Unexpected Blog Tour Stop and Another Giveaway!
July 3, 2013
Another Busy Day on the Blog Tour!
The first post is actually a short story that I co-wrote with my writing BFF and Magical Words co-founder, Faith Hunter. The story can be found at Faith’s website. It features Ethan Kaille, the hero of the Thieftaker books, and Jane Yellowrock, the star of Faith’s bestselling series, and we’re thinking very seriously of expanding it into a novella. So check it out, and stay tuned!
The second post is actually one that was originally scheduled to go up yesterday, before life intervened. But I finally have a post up at the blog of my wonderful friend Mary Robinette Kowal, writing about “My Favorite Bit” in Thieves’ Quarry. “My Favorite Bit” is a feature she has been running on her site for some time now, and it was a fun post to write.
My terrific agent, Lucienne Diver is also hosting me on her site, where I am writing about writing historical fiction and using point of view to reinforce my setting. For those interested in the craft of writing, this should be a really interesting discussion; hope to see you there.
And finally, I am interviewed today by the fabulous Drey at Drey’s Library. I’ll be the featured author for July at the site, so this is just the first of several appearances I’ll be doing there over the next several weeks.
The Day After Release Day, and I’m still going strong. Thanks for sharing another day with me!

Release Day Update: Post on Politics and the Writer is Up
It's Release Day for Thieves' Quarry and the Paperback of Thieftaker!

And the day has begun well, with a 5 “Bat” review from All Things Urban Fantasy!
I have several posts going up today. The first is also at All Things Urban Fantasy, as part of their Deadly Destinations feature. Ethan Kaille gives us a walking tour of 1768 Boston. It was a fun post to write and I hope you enjoy it. Plus, if you check out the post and leave a comment you'll be entered in a drawing to win a copy of Thieves' Quarry!
I am also at the blog of fellow writer Janice Gable Bashman, writing about “The Seam Between Fiction and History.” Blending fictional elements with accurate historical details is not always easy, and that challenge is the subject of this post. I think you’ll find it interesting.
A bit later today, I will be at the blog of my wonderful friend Mary Robinette Kowal, writing about “My Favorite Bit” in Thieves’ Quarry. “My Favorite Bit” is a feature she has been running on her site for some time now, and it was another fun post to write.
And finally, I hope to finally have that post about politics, ideology, and the writer up at Aidan Moher’s “A Dribble of Ink.” We had a bit of a mix-up yesterday, and I apologize for that.
So, there it is: Release Day! I’m very excited. Thanks for sharing the day with me.

THIEVES' QUARRY Launch Week Begins With Three New Stops on the Blog Tour!
Thieves’ Quarry comes out tomorrow, as does the paperback edition of Thieftaker!! And I am very excited, to say the least.
So, today begins a busy week on the Summer 2013 Thieves’ Quarry Blog Tour. I have three different posts up on three different sites.
The first is an interview I did with the wonderful and talented Alethea Kontis at her website. Alethea is beginning her “Month of Authors and Artists,” and she kicked off the month-long event -- which promises to be terrific start to finish -- with yours truly. You can find the Q&A here.
The second is a post on politics, ideology, and the writer at the excellent blog of Aidan Moher, “A Dribble of Ink.” Here is the link the site; the post should be up shortly.
And finally, I have my usual Monday post up http://magicalwords.net, the group blog on the business and craft of writing fantasy that I maintain with fellow authors Faith Hunter, Misty Massey, Mindy Klasky, John Hartness, Kalayna Price, and James Tuck, among others. The post is fun and light-hearted -- it’s about assigning theme songs to some of our favorite characters. So stop by and join in.
I hope you enjoy all three posts.

The Blog Tour Rolls On: Interview with Ethan Kaille and a Post About Magic
The Summer 2013 Thieves’ Quarry Blog Tour rolls on with two more posts today. One is a different sort of post from most of the others I’ve done: It’s an interview with Ethan Kaille, the lead character in my Thieftaker series. Thanks to some excellent questions from Dominick Swennen, who is hosting me at his Fantastical Imaginations site, we had a lot of fun with the Q&A. You can find it here.
Today’s second post can be found at the blog site of my good friend and Magical Words colleague, Mindy Klasky. The post is about the magic system I developed for the Thieftaker books, and about the guidelines I usually follow when creating magic for my books. Here is the link.
I hope you enjoy both posts.

The Summer 2013 Blog Tour Continues With Three Posts!
The Summer 2013 Thieves’ Quarry Blog Tour moves into high gear today with three posts going up at various sites. The first, which can be found at http://www.sfnovelists.com, tells about the evolution of the Thieftaker books from alternate world fantasies to historical fantasies. The post is called “The Book I Didn’t Write.”
My second appearance of the day is an interview I did with my wonderful friend C.E. Murphy. The Q&A is up at her blog and it includes a book giveaway!
Finally, I also have a post up at the Sideshow Freaks Blogspot, the blog of Orson Scott Card’s Intergalactic Medicine Show. The post is about the different levels at which a book works, for both author and reader. Follow this link. I hope you enjoy all of the posts.
