ANOTHER REVIEW FOR BOUNTY

If you are looking for suspense, a thrill and unpredictability in a novel, "Bounty" by Darryl Greer is what you might be looking for. The book clearly describes the life of those greatly affected by the war between extremists and the government and how governments of other countries near and far support them.

The ambitious and intelligent Jabir Sarkis, who lives in one of the most deprived towns in Lebanon, is one of my favourite characters. He has the drive and the will to provide a better future for his family and does not want anything to prevent him fulfilling his dream.

Great praise to the author, Darryl Greer for this outstanding novel. The reader is certainly unable to guess what will happen next. With a plot to keep it interesting, I did not regret one minute I spent reading this book.

...PASSING THROUGH...

Another positive review for my memoir, "...PASSING THROUGH..."

"…Passing Through…" is an insightful and sincere memoir about author, Darryl Greer. He does not sermonise or indoctrinate you about any lessons he may have learned in his life and I think highly of him for this. I got plenty of positive realisations from this unpretentious book. I can totally relate to the author when he shares that when we are young, no matter how bad things actually are, they appear normal. It is only later in life that you look back and see things differently.

I am very grateful to have read this book.

ANOTHER REVIEW FOR BOUNTY

Darryl Greer’s "Bounty" is a very suspenseful read from the start until the very end. It depicts the bitter reality of our world today, which not only affects the Middle East but countries as far away and as peaceful as Australia.

After his mother’s death, as a result of a rocket fired by terrorists, Jabir Sarkis is determined to help to fight the people who are terrorising their country by joining the Lebanese Armed Forces. But growing up, not only does he change his mind about joining the army but all he wants to do is leave the country and start a new, peaceful life.

"Bounty" is a masterfully constructed novel. The struggles of citizens affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is clearly detailed by the author. Darryl Greer keeps the reader interested throughout the book. A great read!

...PASSING THROUGH...

Another positive review of "...Passing Through..."
I was immensely inspired by the story of Darryl Greer. I also applaud the unassuming manner in which he wrote his memoir, despite the fact that he was a successful solicitor licensed to practice in Australia and England.

While I was reading the book, it was not ‘preachy’ at all, unlike other autobiographies that have this tendency to pontificate and rubs up the reader the wrong way.

To give an example, when the author shared how he was somehow abandoned by June, his sixteen-year-old mother, and how he was subsequently adopted by the poor and widowed mother of June, he just wrote it matter-of-factly without any fanfare or spite.

I really admire the author and I learned a lot from this book. Greer is an inspiration!

Available from Amazon.

...PASSING THROUGH...

"…Passing Through…" is an interesting read. I like the fact that before the start of the book, Darryl Greer indirectly shares an inspiration for the title. The brief story about Chofetz Chaim is amusingly profound.

I also appreciate that he is genuine about his memoir, saying that other stories may be more exciting and he hopes that his life story does not bore the reader. I grinned from ear to ear when I read this part because I knew the self-deprecating humour of the author was strong and well-polished.

In sum, "…Passing Through…" is the most appropriate title for an autobiography. I’m lucky that I was not bored when I read and finished this compelling book.

ANOTHER REVIEW FOR BOUNTY

"Bounty" by Darryl Greer is a suspense thriller novel set during the extremist disturbances in the Middle East -- Lebanon. The novel showed how armed action affects the country's economy and how it penetrates other countries as far away as Australia.
Born into the harsh realities of their country, the young, ambitious and intelligent Jabir Sarkis is very much determined to have a decent eduction. He was also in a dilemma on how to get it. He only has two choices -- whether he would join the LAF -- Lebanese Armed Forces -- to help fight off the terrorists in their country or to escape the country to have a better life. Either way, he wants to have the means to be able to financially provide for his family.
Darryl Greer splendidly illustrated one of our world's problems today -- armed conflict, which not only affects Middle Eastern countries but other countries as well. With a solid, interesting plot and its unexpected twists, you would not want to put the book down. It kept me at the very edge of my seat until the end.

...PASSING THROUGH...

More feedback on my memoir, "...Passing Through..."

"It is not often I read anything other than fiction, however, I was very happy that I got hold of "Passing Through" before (my wife). I am not a fast read but took advantage of the lockdown and was so happy I did. It is amazing how much you, together with June and Jasmyn, have achieved and how much I was unaware of. Congratulations on a life well lived and best wishes on what is still to come..."
