Weekly Dynamic: Purchase Price Variance Information
Last week we talked about Inventory Purchase Price Variance and a Dex.ini switch that can make it easier to trace these transactions. But there are lots of people with questions about PPV and there is still plenty of confusion about how it works. For this week's Weekly Dynamic I'm going to point you to a Microsoft Support article that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about how PPV works in Dynamics GP including details on the REVALJEINDETAIL=TRUE Dex.ini switch.

Weekly Review: SmartList Sorting
When saving SmartList favorites, use a character like a tilde (~) or an
asterisk (*) in front of the name to move that favorite toward the top.
Prefixing the name with a “z” will move it to the bottom.

Update: With the proliferation of SmartList Favorites in organizations, SmartLists have now become the Kudzu of accounting departments. I'm now recommending that everyone make SmartLists Favorites only available to themselves (User) when saving them. They are easy to change if there is a need to make them available to everyone and it cuts down on the clutter.

Feature of the Day: Tolerance Handling - Inside Microsoft Dynamics GP
Coming soon in GP 2013, Tolerance Handling . Now the Microsoft folks already pretty tolerant. They must be to put up with me, but that's not what we mean. Tolerance handling allows closing a P.O. even if an item has been under or over received within certain tolerances. It's great for items like printing or fabric that are sold in runs. Hit the link for more.
