Weekly Dynamic: Issues with the R2 Action Pane

Featured Post

Talking with users at the GPUG Summit reinforced the some things that I’d been hearing recently. There are some bugs in the GP 2013 R2 Action Pane. Certain things just don’t work. I don’t have a comprehensive list but it’s mostly window and menu items that were previously in the product but are now missing. If you find that’s you’re missing something, try reverting to the old menu using User Preference.

Weekly Dynamic: Excel Deployment Problem

Featured Post

I had a client with multiple companies that wanted to start using Excel reports in GP 2013. The reports showed as deployed but some companies were missing the actual reports. “No problem,” I thought. Just redeploy. After a redeploy, two of the primary companies still didn’t have reports. When I tried to deploy them individually, I got a a message that I to select a company, even though I had selected a company.

The internet was only marginally helpful. Mariano Gomez pointed toward some of the tables and that was about the best I could find. So I double checked the SY01500 table to make sure that I didn’t have some kind of weird company setup problem. Everything looked fine.

Then I checked the syDeployedReports table. This client isn’t using SSRS reports yet so the only thing that could be in this table were the Excel report deployments. Sure enough, this table showed deployed reports for my companies that wouldn’t work. I cleared the table and redeployed all reports for all companies. That fixed the problem. I’m hoping this post provides a shortcut for someone else. I spent way too much time looking for a fix.
