Looking for some March Pet Madness Help! :)

Hey guys. My sister's cat is in a March Pet Madness bracket and has made it to the Championship round! It's a classic dog versus dog type of battle and I would really appreciate if you'd like the cat's picture. This 4-time cancer survivor is a tough cat and really deserves to win (and not because she's my niece-cat.) All you have to do is click on the link to the pic below and like the picture. And then maybe share if you wouldn't mind?

If you'd like to know more about Jacki-O and her owners, read this online newspaper article: Morning Sun Jacki-O Bio

Thank you guys so much!

Ebook Giveaway, My Only One

In celebration of my newest release, MY ONLY ONE, I am give away 3 ebook copies. All you have to do is comment on the giveaway post at Mysti Parker's Book and Writing Blog. (There's also an excerpt there). That's easier than pushing the Easy button. That's easier than opening a door...unless you're a zombie. Okay, you get the idea on how easy it is.

Synopsis: One book. That’s all you’re allowed to own in a future where the world is run by Bureaus and the United Conglomerate of States. There’s a Bureau to control everything from food rations, electricity, and what you read. It’s a restrictive life for a Citizen. Morton works as an Agent for the Bureau of Lights and Flames and one day his daughter, Eliana, brings home a second book. Fearful, Morton decides to bring back the book to its rightful owner, setting in motion a chain of activity that tests Morton’s loyalty to his daughter and the Bureau he works for.

Has It Been This Long?

I'm surprised at myself: how did I let so much time go between my last post and this one? I guess I could make lots of excuses like "Hey my dog ate my computer," or "the Goodreads Anti-Blog Fairy kept tying my fingers together so I couldn't type," but it all comes down to life, I suppose.

Okay, with that out of the way and a plan for more consistent blogs, I want to make a couple of announcements regarding my books.

First: The 2nd book in my zombie trilogy, Horde was released about a month ago. It's called Horde 2: Green Pastures and is available in ebook form, just like the first one.

Second: Until January 31st (as of right now; it may go on longer,) all of my books are available for 99 cents. This is a special promotion preceding the upcoming release of my science fiction novel, Unit 55.

For free first chapters and more information, visit the Official Gregory M. Thompson website.

Read on, my friends.

Zombie novella Horde released!

Do you like a good zombie story? Then try Horde, an ebook-only novella for 99 cents! You can get it for the Kindle, nook and most other e-readers.

Go to the official Gregory M. Thompson website at Official Website or check out the blurb below and add it to your shelf!

If you know someone who loves zombie stories, then pass on the info!

BLURB: Some things are worse than zombies.

Horde is a novella about five survivors escaping from a large group of zombies. After hearing the converted tornado siren and watching a mass exodus from the campground that has served as home for three months, Percy, Jack, Harry, Melody and Joann make a decision to move further into the state park to find solace from the undead. However, as they move deeper into the forest, a discovery awaits them that is more horrific than what is chasing them.

Thanks everyone!

Trembles Horror Magazine

Besides writing horror, suspense and thrillers, I am also the Head Editor of Trembles Horror Magazine. The magazine launched in January of this year and is published quarterly. We've had good success, much more than we anticipated, probably because of quite a few horror magazines shutting down this year. Our biggest successes come from making the magazine available to e-readers.

So if you like horror stories, poetry, interviews with recogizable authors and book reviews, check out Trembles at the Official Site of Trembles

Also, if you have something to submit, don't forget to read the guidelines.

The magazine is run by Gregory M. Thompson and Andrew Saxsma.

Thanks for checking it out!

Living and Learning

So apparently I decided to publish a second edition of Nightcry two days too late. I have a B&N signing on Sunday, May 15 while I was getting ready to publish that second edition. The second edition fixes a few formatting issues and a few minor grammar problems. Not a big deal, but according to the POD publisher I use, it is.

I upload the file on Friday and it gets accepted, but yet I still have to order a proof and wait until it ships before I can approve it and order the copies I need for the book signing. This morning (Tuesday) the proof is shipped and I approved it and order the copies and strangely enough, I can pay $29.99 for an estimated delivery date of 5/16 or $47.99 for an estimated delivery date of 5/16. Yes, you read that right. Was it a glitch? I don't know and neither did Createspace. So I choose the $29.99 of course, banking on the books arriving by Fri/Sat. My last batch came in three days so I can hope.

The moral is don't procrastinate. I didn't think I was; I just made a decision one day to late. My bad...my bad. I learned.

If anything, I still have 9 copies of the 1st Edition to sell. Maybe I'll have to turn into John Grisham, selling copies out of my truck on Monday.

My First Event

This past Saturday I had my first Authors' Event at a library. A few fellow writer friends were also there and it was fun to see them and interact with other writers.

While I only sold and signed one book, I got to sit next to a cool crime fiction guy who co-wrote a novel with Richard Belzer; meet a funny paranormal teen writer, and chat with my writer friends that talked me into going to the event. The event was not in my neighborhood and even though that Saturday afternoon seemed geared towards kids and teens, I had a wonderful time. Success that day wasn't how many books I sold and autographed, it was for networking and enjoying being in the company of those who pour their sweat onto the pages like I do.

My next event is next month and even though it IS in my neighborhood, I am taking the same attitude to that place.

Release Day!

The first thing my wife said to me when I woke up was, "Happy Release Day." I'm glad the day for Nightcry's release is finally here. I can sit back and let the novel take care of itself and start preparing my second novel's release.

Don't worry Nightcry, I won't abandon you, it's just that you're out there now and it's all up to you to make a name for yourself. I've got to prime The Golden Door because it wants out as well.

So, Goodreaders, Nightcry is available in various formats and I appreciate the support I've gotten on here since I've joined; it has been invaluable.

For a list of formats the book is in, go to Nightcry's Website.

Once again, I appreciate all your support and if you happen to snag a copy, I hope you are entertained by the book.

The Day Before

No, that's not the title of a new novel I'm working on. Today is the day before my novel Nightcry is released. So what am I doing on this day before?

Well, being nervous for one. This is my first novel released into the wild and while I AM excited, I'm also feeling the pangs of "oh no, should I release it?" and "maybe I should wait a week" and "I hope one person likes it." I can probably count on my mom to like it.

I'm also relaxing on the day before. I've pushed out the promotion like crazy the past few weeks, continuously updated the website, networked with what seemed like a million people and think I've done everything I can to get the word out. Could I do more on this, the day before? Sure I could, but I'm using a tip I got when I started playing tournament chess (yes, I just said tournament chess): do not study chess or think about chess at all the day before a tournament. So, just like I let the tournament happen, I'm just going to let the release happen.

I have another novel calling my name and I think it feels neglected since Nightcry has been getting most of my attention lately.

Sorry, new novel, here I come.
