Quotes by the Mistress of Mystery

I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow; but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing
― Agatha Christie

It is a curious thought, but it is only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them.
― Agatha Christie, An Autobiography

“Poirot," I said. "I have been thinking."
"An admirable exercise my friend. Continue it.”

― Agatha Christie, Peril at End House

I think I found it!

I've wanted to get a back-of-the-neck tattoo for a long time. I know I wanted a spider there, but I wasn't sure which one. I had first thought about a happy face spider, but they are normally green or yellow, neither color of which comes up well on my skin tone. Besides, the happy face spider doesn't really fit my personality.

I didn't want the typical Black Widow because it's expected. Ooo! Vampire writer with a Black Widow...

Then there was the Brown Recluse and the Wolf Spider, but their color palette is very blah and would disappear with my hair.

Then I started looking at the tarantulas. Although black and brown are common, some are amazing colors. Some examples are:

All pretty, and I was thinking about maybe the last one... but today I found this:

Some information about this beauty: Xenesthis Immanis: these tarantulas have a "nervous" rather than aggressive disposition. Found in Colombia, Ecuador and other South American countries, dwelling in rainforests, these tarantulas can live 12-16 years depending on the spider.

Perfect colors for me! As soon as I get money, this lovely is going on my neck...

Where the Sorting Hat would've put me:

Slytherin

Big surprise, right?

Actually, I created the character myself (yes, procrastination at its finest) using the Hogwarts Student Maker by Hapuriainen on Deviantart

Another Unemployment Tease...

I was asked to come in for an interview for an Art Specialist.
$15 an hour working with kids in dance and drama.
Sounds good, right?

Now comes the fine print:

1) It would be part time.
2) 3 hours a day/5 days a week.
3) The hours were 3 - 6.
4) The kids were ages 5-12

Still not horrible, right?

But then the tiny print on the bottom:

The job is in Brooklyn

For those of you who don't know, in order for me to get to Brooklyn, I have to drive a good half hour (longer coming home at 6pm), and go over the Verrazano Bridge. So, with gas more than $4 a gallon and the toll of the bridge being right now $13, I would be losing money if I took this gig.

Talk about a tease!
