Hello From MAX 2014

Adobe MAX 2014 kicks off tomorrow morning with the opening General Session. We've got huge announcements and some big surprises in store for Day 1, inspirational speakers for Day 2, and then I co-host MAX Sneaks with Joseph Gordon Levitt Tuesday evening. I'll post updates here and on Twitter, and will try to post pictures, too.

PhoneGap Developer Desktop Preview Announced

The PhoneGap team has announced a preview of a new tool, the PhoneGap Developer Desktop application, which was built to allow you to create and work with your mobile apps from a user interface rather than the command line. It uses the PhoneGap CLI behind the scenes to produce a similar result but in an easier to use fashion.

Upcoming PhoneGap Deprecations

The PhoneGap team has announced that on October 15th, 2014 we will be removing support for WebOS, Symbian, Blackberry and Windows Phone 7 platforms. Honestly, with the exception of Blackberry I doubt many will even notice these depreciations. But, if you do build for these platforms, now you know.

Photoshop For Chromebook Beta

In partnership with Google, we've just introduced Project Photoshop Streaming, a new technology beta (initiallyavailable exclusively to select North America based Adobe education customers with a paid Creative Cloud membership). Project Photoshop Streaming enables selected participants to access Photoshop on Chromebooks. Applications delivered via streaming are easy to access and easy to manage. Even better, streaming apps work directly with files in Google Drive, so no need to download and re-upload files - just edit directly in the cloud.

Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2014 Winners Announced

The Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2014 Winners have been announced. I got to sit with the judges for part of their deliberations, and was blown away by the work I got to see.

Individual category winners receive a $2,000 prize and get invited to Adobe MAX where we'll announce segment winners and the Grand Prize winner.Even though I wasn't a judge (and thus tried to keep my opinions to myself during the screenings and discussions), I did have some favorites of my own, one of which was this entry which won for Editing and Post Production:

#3362 Listen. from ADAA Gallery on Vimeo.

This is another one of my favorites; it merited an honorable mention:

#3797 Chicken Cube from ADAA Gallery on Vimeo.
