Hi. I’m Ruth. I’m an avid reader and an enthusiastic writer. I’ve been writing romance stories since I was in junior high. In one of my favorite pieces, I wrote an endearing story about best friends who got married in a double wedding. They went on their honeymoons together and lived next to each other for years to come. It makes me laugh every time I read it. Although my writing style has changed quite a lot over the years, I’ve never given up on the allure of a happily ever after. That is why I love to write sweet romance novels.

I don’t live on a ranch, but sometimes I feel like my house could be one. I have two dogs, a cat, six chickens, and two starlings currently living at my house. I also have a sizable amount of children that come and go, devouring food and leaving laughter in their wake. When I am not writing, I enjoy quilting, watercolor painting, and acting.

ONE PENNY A STORY, I called across the playground.

Entirely unusual, given how shy I was (and still am), for me to be shouting anything across a playground.

But there I was, a double-sided sheet of narrow ruled paper (I’ve always been kind of particular about the paper I like. Back then, narrow ruled. Now, grid.) in my hand, selling stories I hadn’t yet wrote.

Every line featured a different title. I’d lay on my bed the night before thinking of them all, probably singing along to Boyzone songs as I did [hey, don’t judge… I see you over there like you never thought you were destined to marry a boy band singer…].

My school friends could buy a Mona original for one penny. One penny!

They’d pick the title they liked, hand over their sweaty penny, and I’d write the story for them.

And I’ve never grown out of writing stories.

Now, I write cozy mystery stories from my den in the Peak District, and when I’m not writing them, I’m reading them.

Share thread –  Share what you’re doing, what’s working, what’s not. It’s the time to ask questions and learn new things.

This will look different depending on the topic – if it’s marketing or craft or business related.
