For them, freewill is a luxury . . .
Greg Papilio both wants and dreads his impending metamorphosis. He’s tired of being a runt—always picked last on the basketball court—and tired of being ugly, like a caterpillar, when he could be what girls call “drop dead gorgeous.” But as much as he looks forward to the trans...

Don’t Let Querying Kill Your Muse
Query Letters
Let’s talk honestly about querying . . .
Anyone who has ever queried an agent or publisher can tell you it is very, very, very hard work, and—for most of us—also very disheartening. The time-consuming, difficult process involves:
Researching the right agents for your novel
Reading the submission guidelines at every agency
Crafting a personalized letter for each agent
Keeping track of the agents who you’ve queried
Waiting, waiting, waiting . . . and waiting
Deal with rejection
Repeat (unl...

Best Casting For a Book Character
If you’re a bibliophile like me, you probably get very excited when your favorite books make it to the big screen. I know I do, and when they come out, I’m the first one hauling my butt to the theater and dragging whoever else will go with me
As a reader, I fall in love with the story, but—more than anything—I fall in love with the characters. I have my favorite heroes and even my favorite villains. I love them and I hate them! And when the film versions are announced, I twist myself into a...

The Stars Lie
Yep, those Amazon and Goodreads review stars don’t tell the whole truth!
I hate to say it, but several of the books I read last year were awful. This gets me upset. If I invest my most precious commodity—a.k.a. time—in reading a book, Iwantneedit to be good—or possibly GREAT!Unreasonable?
No! It’s like going to the movies. If you pay $10 for a ticket, you’d be outraged if in the first 20 minutes they have the characters getting up, taking a shower, getting dressed, cooking breakfast, eating sai...

Plus, one of my very cute t-shirts. I swear I love them. When I wear mine, everyone asks me who Sebastian is. Needless to say, I tell them all about my books and the wonderful reader (Yep, that’s you, Marylin) who gave me the “Keep Calm and Dance with Sebastian” idea after she read The Guys Are Props Clu...

My Goals for 2014
Happy 2014!
A new year is here, and I’m doing what I always do: Setting goals!
The different is: this year I will keep track of my goals here. Last year, I set several goals, which I proudly accomplished. Except, I can’t prove I was a good girl and did everything I set out to do, namely writing two novels and getting them published *pats herself on the back* SLAM DUNK!
Now, for 2014, my goals are loftier, a true challenge from what I’ve done in the past, so to keep myself honest and share my p...
