Founded by the Phoenicians, Lebanon has been ruled by the Persians, by Alexander the Great, Selucid Kingdom, Rome, the Ottoman Empire and the French.
After becoming independence in 1943, it was known as the Switzerland of the Middle East, with numerous vibrant cultures and religions living harmoniously in a vibrant economy .
Subsequently its location between two extremely unstable countries (Israel and Syria) made it subject to massive refugee inflows from both countries. The French mandate system (following independence, the French continued to rule Lebanon for three year under a UN mandate) also created a legacy of instability, with its constitutional stipulation that only a Maronite Christian could be president and only a Suni Muslim prime minister. It led to increasing unrest as the Shia Lebanese population increased, the number of Maronite Christians declined and hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees flooded into southern Lebanon. Their descendants (along with Syrian, Bangladeshi and Ethiopian refugees) continue to live in 11 overcrowded refugee camps to the present day.
The filmmakers visit four of them Sabia, Shetila and Bourj El-Barajnen and Bequaa Valley. 
Officially the Lebanese civil war started in 1975, but the groundwork was laid is 1970, when when the Jordanian government expelled the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and they relocated to southern Lebanon. With the Beirut government unable to extend its authority in the south, the area became lawless.
In response to recurrent PLO rocket attacks on northern Israel, in 1978 the Israeli Defense Force invaded and occupied southern Lebanon until 2000. Following their withdrawal Hezbollah, an Islamist based paramilitary group has occupied the region.* t
Although Israel has continued routine shelling of southern Lebanon with rockets and white phosphorous (destroying numerous homes and crops), Lebanon experienced a major economy recovery between 2008-201. Following Lebanon’s Arab Spring protests in 2011, it’s been on a continual downward trajectory, which the filmmakers blame on the influx of over 2 million Syrian refugees,
At present, Syrian refugees comprise one-third of Lebanon’s 5.8 million population. This is in addition to 489,000 registered and 100,000 – 200,000 unregistered Palestine refugees.
Unable to cope with this massive population influx, Lebanon verges on failed statehood. Providing basic services (water, electricity, schools) to millions of indigent refugees cots their economy approximately $50-60 billion annually. Forced to borrow the funds, the government has viiolated the Basel Accords,** and banks have responded by illegally imposing currency controls and freezing depositors’ funds.
As a result of a currency devaluation and wage reforms in 2019, 82% of Lebanese residents live below the poverty line.
*Except for a 2006 Israeli invasion followed by a 33-day IDF-Hezbollah war.

Syria’s terrorist rulers committing ethnic cleansing in Christian town

A rights advocacy organization says Christians have been threatened by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militant group to evacuate the southwestern Syrian town of Maaloula, in what has been decried as an act of ethnic cleansing.
“Syrian Christians in the ancient Christian town of Maaloula, Syria, are being threatened to leave the town by the AlQaeda/ISIS terrorists that have taken over Syria,” the Iraqi Christian Foundation said in a post on X on Sunday.
“An ethnic cleansing is happening in this ancient Christian town where Aramaic is still spoken. Pray for the Christians of Syria,” the rights organization added.
The mission of the Iraqi Christian Foundation is to advocate for the human, legal, and political rights of Iraqi Christians and other Christians across the West Asia region.
The organization also provides humanitarian aid to Iraqi and Syrian Christian genocide victims.
Other rights activists earlier warned about the lack of Internet access or communication and the unfolding of a massacre in Maaloula, the last town in Syria where Aramaic — Jesus Christ’s language — is still spoken.
The HTS administration, which led the oslaught that toppled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government earlier this month, has repeatedly claimed to respect the beliefs and rights of all sects and religions in Syria.
Tens of thousands took to the streets in Latakia, Tartus, Homs, Hama, and Qardaha in condemnation of the militants’ desecration of an Alawite shrine in Aleppo last week, but the HTS violently attacked them, leading to deadly confrontations.
The HTS is among the militant organizations that have taken on Syria over the past dozen years with massively deadly and devastating effects on the country’s people.
Since March 2011, Syria has been gripped by a campaign of militancy and destruction sponsored by the US and its allies.

Al Qaida Is Winning – The New Caliphate In Syria

Biden began his term in office by abandoning Afghanistan to the Taliban and allowing the creation of a new terrorist super state. He is finishing his time in the Oval Office by watching helplessly as a new Caliphate is formed in the rubble of what was once Syria. Divorced from reality as always, his hapless State Department now calls the jihadi ruler of Damascus Al-Jolani a “pragmatist” and talks mindlessly about accommodation and cooperation with mass murderers and rapists.
Meanwhile, inside Syria, the new Islamic rulers are losing no time in consolidating their rule and making clear their intentions. On 26 December, Al-Jolani appointed former Al-Qaeda commander and Nusra Front co-founder Anas Hassan Khattab as the head of the country’s general intelligence agency. Khattab was designated a “terrorist” by the United Nations a decade ago. According to the UN, he was involved “in the financing, planning, facilitating, preparing, or perpetrating of acts or activities by, in conjunction with, under the name of, on behalf of, or in support of” and “otherwise supporting acts or activities of” the Nusra Front. This Al-Qaeda offshoot was rebranded as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in 2017.
Those are the guys who now run Syria.
As the head of intelligence Khattab’s job will not be to prepare detailed analyses of foreign developments. He will be in charge of domestic security. His job will be to crush any dissent and guarantee Al-Jolani stays in power. He has already been performing that function in the areas that HTS has controlled for years, where torture and murder are common tactics used to stifle dissent.
Last week, , a founding member of Al-Qaeda in Syria, was appointed foreign minister for the new terrorist state being created in Syria.
Meanwhile, more information is becoming available on the composition of the jihadist forces that drove Assad from power. Contrary to press reports that want to characterize the ousting of Assad as some sort of liberal, democratic, populist movement, the reality appears to be that substantial numbers of fighters from outside of Syria are present on the ground. Just before Christmas, a video surfaced of a Christmas tree in a town in Syria being burned by Islamists. It now appears the terrorists who carried out this action were Uzbek fighters fighting with Al-Jolani’s forces.
In fact, substantial numbers of Central Asians are in Syria and serving the new Caliphate. According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI),
“The exact number of Tajik, Uzbek, and Chinese Uyghur citizens present in Syria is unknown, but these individuals operate in three separate groups under the leadership of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.”
“Tajik jihadis residing in Syria operate under an organization called Jaish Al-Jihad Imam Abu Hanifa. Members of this group refer to its flag and name as the central focus of their activities on their Telegram channels. Several Telegram channels affiliated with this organization are active, sharing jihadi messages and reports from the Syrian battlefield.”
“One of the Tajik jihadis in Syria, known as ‘Musafir Tactical’, produces videos on YouTube and Telegram to promote and recruit young Tajiks for the war. He also creates content teaching weapon usage, the operation of communication devices, the repair of automatic weapons, and guerrilla warfare tactics.”
“Another member of the group, known as Mohsen Tajiki, also has thousands of followers on social media. Since the start of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s offensive on Aleppo, he has been providing updates moment by moment on the advances toward villages and towns under the control of Bashar Al-Assad’s government.”
“The East Turkestan Islamic Party is one of the most active jihadi groups in Syria, and compared to other Central Asian-origin groups, it has more resources and manpower. This group is a Uyghur jihadi organization that has been active in the Syrian civil war since around 2012. Its stated goal is to establish an Islamic state in the Xinjiang region of China (East Turkestan) and it is aligned with various jihadi groups in Syria, including branches of Al-Qaeda.”
“Fighters from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are also present in Syria, having fought under the flag of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham during the attack on Aleppo, and are now on the front lines fighting to advance toward other cities in Syria. These Uzbek and Kyrgyz fighters operate within a group called Katibat Al-Tawhid wAl-Jihad, which was established in northern Syria in 2013.”
“In March 2022, the U.S. Department of State designated this group as a terrorist organization due to its terrorist activities and its connections with international terrorist organizations, including Al-Qaeda.”
None of this is consistent with the fiction that Syria is now controlled by individuals seeking a liberal democratic order and cooperation with the West. It is a picture of a nation that has fallen to radical Islamic forces and which will now in tandem with Afghanistan serve as a launching pad for attacks on the United States and its allies.
Already Al-Jolani’s boys are moving fast to consolidate power. They are demanding that all rival groups turn in their weapons and disarm. They are beginning to proscribe rules for women’s dress throughout the country. They are also advising that anyone who fears Islamic rule is simply misinformed. You will live under Sharia law and you will like it.
We spent twenty years fighting a war against Islamic terror. That war is not over. We simply stopped shooting back. In a matter of years, we have allowed the creation of two radical terrorist states from which attacks can be launched worldwide. The newest of those is in the heart of the Middle East.

A Systematic Review Of Autopsy Findings In Deaths After COVID-19 Vaccination

Background: The rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines, combined with a high number of adverse event reports, have led to concerns over possible mechanisms of injury including systemic lipid nanoparticle (LNP) and mRNA distribution, Spike protein-associated tissue damage, thrombogenicity, immune system dysfunction, and carcinogenicity. The aim of this systematic review is to investigate possible causal links between COVID-19 vaccine administration and death using autopsies and post-mortem analysis.
Methods: We searched PubMed and ScienceDirect for all published autopsy and organ-restricted autopsy reports relating to COVID-19 vaccination up until May 18th, 2023. All autopsy and organ-restricted autopsy studies that included COVID-19 vaccination as an antecedent exposure were included. Because the state of knowledge has advanced since the time of the original publications, three physicians independently reviewed each case and adjudicated whether or not COVID-19 vaccination was the direct cause or contributed significantly to death.
Results: We initially identified 678 studies and, after screening for our inclusion criteria, included 44 papers that contained 325 autopsy cases and one organ-restricted autopsy case (heart). The mean age of death was 70.4 years. The most implicated organ system among cases was the cardiovascular (49%), followed by hematological (17%), respiratory (11%), and multiple organ systems (7%). Three or more organ systems were affected in 21 cases. The mean time from vaccination to death was 14.3 days. Most deaths occurred within a week from last vaccine administration. A total of 240 deaths (73.9%) were independently adjudicated as directly due to or significantly contributed to by COVID-19 vaccination, of which the primary causes of death include sudden cardiac death (35%), pulmonary embolism (12.5%), myocardial infarction (12%), VITT (7.9%), myocarditis (7.1%), multisystem inflammatory syndrome (4.6%), and cerebral hemorrhage (3.8%).
Conclusions: The consistency seen among cases in this review with known COVID-19 vaccine mechanisms of injury and death, coupled with autopsy confirmation by physician adjudication, suggests there is a high likelihood of a causal link between COVID-19 vaccines and death. Further urgent investigation is required for the purpose of clarifying our findings.

Biden Wrong To Double Down on Syria

On December 19, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that there are roughly 2,000 troops stationed in Syria – 1,100 more than previously shared with the public. Pentagon spokesperson Major General Patrick Ryder disclosed the new number almost off-handedly, without explanation for the shock news as Syria experiences a generational moment following former President Bashar al-Assad’s regime collapse on December 8. The announcement personifies the ongoing and widespread disdain of American political and military leaders for transparency on military operations abroad.
Indeed, the laxness with which Ryder announced the new deployment numbers is unacceptable. These forces are not, as the spokesperson claimed, simply “temporary rotational forces” but reflect the worst excesses of mission creep that have come to define U.S. military operations in the post-9/11 era. Ryder’s follow-on statements, in the same breath as his claims of the temporary nature of the deployment, highlight this bleak reality: “Right now, there are no plans to cease the defeat-ISIS mission.”
Rather, the Biden administration feels empowered to expand that mission and lie to the American people about what exactly it is doing in Syria. Such an outcome results from unchecked executive power in the U.S. government and Congressional reluctance to question support for anything labeled as counterterrorism (CT) operations. Worse, the announcement comes as news surfaces that U.S. President Joe Biden experienced “good days and bad days” as early as 2021 concerning his mental acuity – another inconvenient fact hidden from U.S. citizens, raising questions regarding who has actually been steering policy in the White House.
The inconvenient truth for Biden’s advisors is simple: U.S. forces continue to operate in a country that has not invited them to establish a presence and without any constitutionally mandated Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) required to make such military operations legal under U.S. law. Only Congress can pass an AUMF – the president cannot unilaterally declare one. Flimsy arguments connecting the Islamic State to Al-Qaeda – arguing that the former grew out of the latter – are another ugly expansion of unchecked executive power aimed at limiting U.S. citizen input on the critical decisions of their elected officials.
Such a pass must be rejected. For two decades, U.S. officials have worked to expand global military power in a resource-draining deluge of unsustainable overextension. On the same day as Ryder’s announcement, the U.S. Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) – the primary defense appropriations package – to the tune of $895 billion. As U.S. debt approaches $37 trillion, the government should be more transparent on such issues – not less. Yet rather than taking that approach, the Pentagon failed its seventh straight audit in 2024.

Trump supports immigration visas backed by Musk: ‘I have many H-1B visas on my properties’

President-elect Trump told The Post Saturday he supports immigration visas for highly skilled workers, appearing to side with Elon Musk in the roiling intra-MAGA debate on the issue.
“I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas. That’s why we have them,” Trump said by phone, referring to the H-1B program, which permits companies to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations.
“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,” added Trump, who restricted access to foreign worker visas in his first administration and has been critical of the program in the past.
Musk and other tech barons argued this week that the H-1B visa program is critical to ensuring American companies can find highly skilled labor which may not be easily available in the U.S. labor force and must be expanded.
MAGA hardliners want Trump to follow through with his promise to promote US workers and impose tougher restrictions on immigration.
Trump’s Saturday comments come a day after Musk vowed to go to “war” on the issue, telling one mocking opponent to go “f–k yourself.”
The flare-up happened after X user Steven Mackey jabbed the billionaire’s defense of the program by using the billionaire’s own words against him.
“Stop trying to optimize something that shouldn’t exist,” a line often used by Musk, Mackey wrote. “Let’s optimize H-1B,” he sarcastically added.
Musk fired back: “The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla, and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.”
“Take a big step back and F–K YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend,” he added, paragraphing a memorable line from the 2008 comedy “Tropic Thunder.”
The tech billionaire has been criticized by MAGA diehards including Laura Loomer and Ann Coulter — who say the H-1B visa program has been abused and needs to be sharply curtailed.
And influential voices around Trump have publicly begun turning on Musk as well.
“Someone please notify ‘Child Protective Services’— need to do a ‘wellness check’ on this toddler,” former White House Counselor Steve Bannon jeered at the X boss in a Saturday post to his account on Gettr.
Musk said his passion for the issue stemmed from wanting America to remain competitive by attracting “the top ~0.1% of engineering talent” which he said was essential for “America to keep winning.”
Vivek Ramaswamy, who is slated to run the Department of Government Efficiency with Musk, backed Musk and offered a critique of American society.
“American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence,” Ramaswamy wrote on X.

A Voice from Syria on Christmas Day: “All of us are lost.”

The situation in Syria continues to evolve. See the X account of Tim Anderson @TimAnd2037 for videos showing ongoing atrocities which contradict the western and allied media narrative.
Syria Is Secular“I’m Muslim but we celebrate Christmas. Syria is a secular country. We celebrate all other religions and sects. I remember when I was a child, my father used to celebrate this day and say, ‘this is the day of the birth of Jesus Christ, our prophet. So we must enjoy it. We must spread love, peace.’ This is part of the Syrian mentality to celebrate all these events because we learn from this love, sacrifice, peace and these things. So this is something of our tradition. We hope this will not end.”
Situation in Damascus“The first four days after Assad’s departure were chaos, looting and stealing. After that, there has been a kind of peace in Damascus. But today, the situation is very dangerous again. My wife and I went to buy some things for the house. But there was too much firing of weapons. We had to return home. It’s now dangerous again.”
Situation in Aleppo“In Aleppo, they banned one of the prominent minority religious sites. Because of this, there have been demonstrations. Two people were killed. There was a pretrial hearing and yesterday three judges were killed while they were going home. Things are getting worse. Some people are now saying ‘We are going to arm our people. You are unable to protect us, you are against us.’ This is the dangerous situation today.”
Curfew“We have curfew for 12 hours. People are not allowed to go out. Before this, things were calm and they were quiet. But for today, yes, things are getting worse. We hope they will not get out of control. “
Food, Electricity, and Fuel“There is electricity in Aleppo only one half or one hour per day. At the beginning in Aleppo, the new rulers brought in power generators and for two or three days there was much more electricity. Before they took over the rest of Syria. Now people rarely have electricity. I live in Dummar project, one of the good areas in Damascus. We have electricity for one hour every 12 hours, just two hours per day.
“Food prices have recently gone down. But many people don’t have money and cannot pay. The new government said that people will not get their salary for this month because in Syria people used to get their salaries in advance. They said, we will not give you your salary because you already took it at the beginning of December. So people now are really starving because of this.
“Transportation costs have increased four to five times. It is almost not worth it for many people to go to work. The new leadership say that they are now studying this and will raise the salaries three or four times. But according to what we see, these are all just false attempts to calm people down.
“Before they took over the rest of Syria, they promised the people of Aleppo that it would be paradise. They said they are going to give people the salary equivalent to 250 US dollars per month. That is a big increase and people were very happy for this. Now, after they took over the rest of Syria, they said, okay, we cannot do this because there are a lot of obligations and now we will study salaries and let’s see.”
Eyewitness Syria, the Last 12 DaysThreats to Syrian Industry“The entry of Turkish goods are now threatening Syrian industry. Turkish goods are coming into Syria with low prices and better quality. Syrian industry has been damaged by western sanctions, the high prices of fuel and electricity, and other factors. So they cannot compete with those of Turkey. Just yesterday, a leader of industry called on the new government to impose taxes on imported goods. Syrian industry needs some protection. So we don’t know where things will go. Rumors are everywhere in Syria.”
Security“So far the only security are those who came from HTS. They are very few in number. Recently, they made announcements for the previous soldiers or policemen to return. The new leadership said they will make a reconciliation for all previously recruited soldiers or policemen. They said to go to these centers and if they see that you didn’t make any crimes against the opposition or any torture or things, they’re going to recruit you within the new staff of police. We will see.”
Colleges and Universities“They changed the names of universities into other names. They changed everything related to Baath Party or Assad to other names. The public universities are now open. Each day has a daylight prayer inside the university. They stop all lectures and have this prayer and all people group to have it. But it’s free for you to pray or not to pray. They don’t force anyone to participate. Yet. So far they are not enforcing any Islamic rules. For instance, women can go to streets without hijab or scarf.
“Private universities were looted and still have postponed classes. Classes are to resume on January 4. “
West and Allies Are Coming to Damascus“The new rulers are receiving delegations from all around the world. But so far we haven’t seen any good coming from this. People start to lose their patience because they see rich countries come to us and nobody brings any fuel, oil or needed supplies. So why are they coming if they don’t have immediate solutions? There are delegations from USA, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan and many other countries. So people say, okay, it’s good that now they have these relations, but what is the effect? Why hasn’t anything changed?”
Syrians Returning or Departing?“Many friends told me that the moment they can leave the country, they’re going to depart. They are seeing the situation very dark with the advancements of Israel into Syrian lands. And unfortunately now we don’t have any power to resist because Israel destroyed all the military capacities of the Syrian army. So people, they know that things are not going to be in a good situation. People are very afraid. Many people don’t have money to go to their work or to feed their babies or to do anything.
“Are people returning from abroad? It is hard to tell. At the beginning there were estimates that around 20,000 Syrians returned from Turkey to their villages. Turkey is facilitating the return of Syrians. This is part of the whole program. But other Syrians have left. Especially Shia Muslims. I know a lot, especially who were soldiers. They left for Lebanon because they were afraid for their security and safety.”

Is Washington Preparing a “Soft Coup” in Cuba: The Co-optation of Cuban Intellectuals
By Prof Michel ChossudovskyIn October 2010, I was invited to the home of Fidel Castro in the outskirts of Havana to discuss US foreign policy, the dangers of nuclear war, the global economic crisis and the unfolding New World Order . . . During that visit, I met up with several friends and colleagues (academics, members of parliament) who were acutely aware of Washington’s undercover role of political cooptation. They expressed their concern (October 2015) that a so-called Golpe Blando, namely “Soft Coup” was in the making.
Unilateral sanctions were never abandoned. In 2019, Donald Trump instated Title III of the 1996 Helms Burton Act, which unleashed the most severe economic sanctions against Cuba since the blockade was first introduced in 1962.
Upon Biden’s accession to the White House, the blockade was nonetheless maintained despite the vote of the UN General Assembly (184 in favour 3 against) demanding an end to the 60-years U.S. economic blockade on Cuba.
The Covid-19 Crisis
But there is another important issue which has largely been overlooked. The covid-19 narrative as well as its various policies (including the vaccine) have become an integral part of US foreign policy under the Biden administration.
The Covid-crisis has obvious geopolitical implications. It constitutes a means to destabilize countries which do not conform to the diktats of global capitalism. Throughout Latin America it is the source of economic and social chaos. It is also a means to destabilize progressive governments throughout the continent including Venezuela, Cuba and Mexico.
In this regard, the March 2020 Covid-19 lockdown ordered by the upper echelons of the financial establishment has literally destroyed the Cuban economy, specifically the tourist industry which is the country’s main source of foreign exchange.
The lockdown as well the Covid-19 vaccine are presented to public opinion as a means to protecting peoples lives. That’s an outright lie.
The so-called covid-19 lockdown on March 11, 2020 leading to the simultaneous “closure” of 190 national economies was a deliberate act of economic, social and political sabotage.
With regard to Cuba, the Covid-19 crisis has wrecked havoc. It is all encompassing. It extends beyond the US sanctions regime which the Cuban government has effectively handled for the last 59 years.
The Covid-19 lockdown has weakened the country’s institutions, it has created social divisions, it has impoverished Cuba’s population. It has also created conditions for a US inspired “color revolution”.
Yet at the same time the legitimacy of the Covid-19 narrative, which emanates from Washington and Wall Street, was accepted and endorsed by the Cuban people and their government.
Unfortunately, despite the fraud and scientific falsehoods which are amply documented, the Covid-19 narrative has also been endorsed by “progressives” throughout Latin America.
This in turn has led to misleading statements by the Left on the causes of the protest movement in Cuba. The underlying focus is solely on the blockade as the cause of food shortages, poverty and unemployment. The devastating social and economic impacts of the covid lockdown which is undermining the achievements of the Cuban Revolution are casually ignored.
The following article was originally published in November 2016 following my visit to Havana in 2015:
The Cuban Revolution constitutes a fundamental landmark in the history of humanity, which challenges the legitimacy of global capitalism. In all major regions of the World, the Cuban revolution has been a source of inspiration in the relentless struggle against neo-colonial domination and US imperialism.
The World is at a critical crossroads. At this juncture of our history, most “real” progressive movements towards socialism have been destroyed and defeated through US-NATO led wars, military interventions, destabilization campaigns, regime change, coups d’etat, “soft coups”.
Progressive movements as well as “The Left” in Western Europe and the U.S. have largely been coopted, often financed by elite corporate foundations.
The socialist project in Cuba nonetheless prevails despite the US economic blockade, CIA intelligence ops and dirty politics.
While the legacy of Fidel Castro lives, l et us be under no illusions, Washington’s intent not only consists in destroying the Cuban Revolution, it also seeks to erase the history of socialism.
Washington’s Diabolical Design
There are indications that a “regime change” in Cuba is currently contemplated by Washington policy makers. The Trump administration has been categorical in this regard. The repercussions will be felt throughout Latin America.
During the election campaign “he committed himself to reversing Obama’s Presidential Policy Directive titled “United States-Cuba Normalization,”(a 12-page directive—referred to officially as “PPD-43”). (The Nation, October 2017). No subsequent statement following Trump’s inauguration has as yet been forthcoming.
Of significance is Trump’s appointment of Dr. Judy Shelton to head the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a think tank and funding agency geared towards regime change. As a former Vice-President of the NED, Shelton was “directly involved in lending legitimacy to US-backed subversion in Cuba as part of a decades-long attempt to overthrow the government in Havana and expand US hegemony over the Caribbean.”
Whatever US- Cuba “normalization” is contemplated by the Trump Administration, it would be geared towards the restoration of capitalism through acts of sedition, infiltration, etc. combined with the imposition of neoliberal economic reforms, including the IMF’s “strong economic medicine”. The fundamental question is how Cuba and the Cuban people will, in the current context, respond to these ongoing threats.
How does Washington plan to carry out this plan. Fundamentally through:
1) Measures which contribute to destabilizing the Cuban economy and its monetary system.
2) Procedures which are conducive to the eventual integration of the Cuban economy into the nexus of the IMF-World Bank-WTO, including the imposition of policy conditionalities geared towards dismantling Cuba’s social programs, its rationing of essential consumer goods, etc.
3) To reach their objectives, Washington and its European allies have over the years devised various covert mechanisms of infiltration and cooptation with a view to influencing government policy makers, managers of public sector enterprises as well as intellectuals. In this regard Washington has also relied on its European partners which have established bilateral relations with Cuba.
This article will largely concentrate on the activities of right wing European foundations involved in funding Cuban think tanks and research centers.
The objective is the cooptation of researchers, scholars and intellectuals. The purpose is to build a “new normal” which will pave the way towards the insertion of Cuban socialism into the logic of World capitalism. While retaining the socialist narrative, this process is ultimately intended to undermine the Cuban revolution, opening the door to economic deregulation, foreign investment and privatization. The “acceptance” by Cuban intellectuals of this “new normal” is essential to reaching the goal of capitalist restoration.
Background: US InterventionismIn recent years, the modalities of US interventionism have changed dramatically: The thrust of U.S. foreign policy largely consists in destabilizing sovereign countries through a process of “regime change” (color revolution). The latter consists in destabilizing the national economy, manipulating national elections, co-opting leftist intellectuals, bribing politicians, financing opposition parties, engineering violence and protest movements.
In Latin America, pro-US military dictatorships have largely been replaced by pro-US (fake) “democracies”. In turn, neoliberal economic reforms under the guidance of the IMF-World Bank have served to impoverish the population, thereby creating conditions which favor protest as well as social and political strife.
The rigging of elections in Latin America is coupled with engineered protests and the co-optation of Left intellectuals funded both by US and European foundations and NGOs, with links to US intelligence.
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) created in 1983 alongside a number of other US based foundations has taken the lead. The NED’s mandate is to promote democracy and human rights in developing countries.
The NED is an unofficial arm of the CIA. According to former NED president Carl Gershman:
“It would be terrible for democratic groups around the world to be seen as subsidized by the C.I.A. … We have not had the capability of doing this, and that’s why the endowment was created.”
In the words of the NED’s first president Alan Weinstein: ” A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA” (Washington Post, September 22, 1991).
The NED Project in Cuba. Entry through the “Back Door”While the NED is banned in Cuba, it nonetheless finances indirectly –through partner foundations and proxy NGOs based in Florida — a large number of so-called “democracy projects”. Many of these partner (US based) organizations –including the Cuban Democratic Directorate (Directorio), the Instituto Cubano por la Libertad de Expresion y Prensa, the Observatorio Cubano de Derechos Humanos– have links to US intelligence. Historically, the NED has functioned through partners in the European Union which have formal bilateral links with Cuba.
With regard to Germany, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (linked to the Social Democratic Party), the Hans Böll Stiftung (Green Party) and the Hanns Seidel Stiftung (linked to the right wing Bavarian Christian Democratic Party (CSU)) have agreements with Cuba.
America’s Proxy: The Hanns Seidel Foundation, Instrument of the Right Wing CSU Party of BavariaIn this essay I will focus primarily on the role of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, with specific reference to its role in Cuba and Venezuela.
The Hanns Seidel Stiftung (HSS), via the right wing Bavaria CSU, has a direct relationship to the government of Angela Merkel, who, in many regards is considered a US proxy Historically, the activities of the HSS have been supportive of right wing political interventionism.
Many of HSS’ activities in developing countries as well as in Eastern Europe are carried out in partnership with US foundations including the NED and, Soros’ Open Society Foundation. HSS also has links with various think tanks including Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs) and the American Enterprise Institute. It hosts speaking events as well as training programs in collaboration with NATO, the EU and the German government.
The Hanns Seidel Stiftung (NSS) has intervened in many countries, often in liaison with the NED and the US State Department. In the early 1990s it was involved in the so-called “Orange Revolution” in Ukraine, which resulted in mass poverty and the destabilization of the Ukrainian economy.
More recently, Hanns Seidel (HSS) has maintained links with the current Kiev regime, largely with a view to confronting Moscow and destabilizing Donbass.
HSS through its Washington office has routine consultations with the US government, Congress, think tanks, including major partner foundations.
HSS is also in liaison with US based foundations including the NED, the Ford Foundation, the Open Society Foundation.
HSS continues to maintain close ties to the Kiev regime which is integrated by two Neo-Nazi parties. The CSU and the HSS have informal ties to German intelligence, the Bundes Nachrichtendienst (BND).
One of the main activities of the Hanns Seidel Foundation has been the co-optation of Leftist intellectuals and scholars. This has been carried out by financing key policy-oriented think tanks and research institutes.

Annexation of Canada? Déjà Vu of Gen MacArthur Call to Bomb Vancouver, Halifax, Montreal and Quebec City

It started as a joke at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, which unfolded into bitter laughter. . . But Donald was not joking. He posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “Many Canadians” in fact “want” Canada to become the 51st state: they would save on “taxes and military protection”. Justin’s failure to respond in his capacity as Canada’s a “head of government” was noticeably marked by ignorance regarding the history of Canada-U.S. relations since Confederation in 1867. We cannot blame Trudeau. Our history books fail to acknowledge the US War Department’s “Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan — Red” to invade Canada in the 1930s.

The issue of Annexation as well an outright invasion of Canada have been on the drawing board of the U.S. War Department since the end the First World War.
1. What Canadians Know: British North America Act. Confederation (1867)
Most Canadians are fully aware of the U.S. intent to annex several territories of British North America culminating with the defunct 1866 Annexation Bill, not to mention the Alaska Purchase in May 1867, two months prior to The Enactment of the British North America Act, leading to the creation of the Dominion of Canada. Confederation on July 1st, 1867.
The Bill to Annex Canada was introduced in 1866, While it was not adopted by the House of Representatives, the text of the bill was nonetheless a draft of an invasion plan. It was to come into force upon its proclamation by US president Andrew Johnson (right). It included the territories of British North America from Newfoundland and the Maritimes to British Columbia, extending North into the Hudson Bay territory and North West Territory bordering onto “Russian America” (i.e Alaska) (see map below).
It consisted in the outright confiscation of public lands. It also implied US control over the trans Canada railway system, waterways, canals as well as control over the Saint Lawrence seaway.
The US government had also contemplated paying “compensation” to the Hudson Bay Company. This consisted essentially in a plan to confiscate the territories under H.B.C jurisdiction (see map), “in full discharge of all claims to territory or jurisdiction in North America, whether founded on the charter of the [Hudson Bay] company or any treaty, law, or usage.”
The United States will pay ten millions of dollars to the Hudson Bay Company in full discharge of all claims to territory or jurisdiction in North America, whether founded on the charter of the company or any treaty, law, or usage. (Article XI)
2. What Canadians Do Not Know. Omitted From Our History BooksWhile the 1866 Annexation project was stalled upon the adoption of the British North American Act in 1867, US plans to annex and/or invade Canada militarily were contemplated in the 1930s.
In the immediate wake of World War I, Washington’s intent was to undermine, destabilize and destroy the British Empire, an objective which was largely completed in the wake of World War II.
What has been omitted from our history books in schools, colleges and universities is that our American neighbour had envisaged to wage war on Canada. The U.S. War Department had drafted in the early 1920s a plan to Invade the Dominion of Canada.
As of the mid-1930s, the war plans against Canada consisted in the bombing of Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax and Vancouver. The use of “poison gas” was part of that project.
3. “War Plan Red” Against Canada Under the Helm of General D. MacArthurIn the late 1920s, Washington formulated a detailed plan to invade Canada, entitled “Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan — Red”. The plan was approved by the US War Department under the presidency of Herbert Hoover in 1930. It was updated in 1934 and 1935 during the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was withdrawn in 1939 following the outbreak of the Second World War.
War Plan Red was officially approved by the US War Department in May 1930. The 1928 draft stated that:
“it should be made quite clear to Canada that in a war she would suffer grievously”.
According to
“If US war plans for the conquest of Canada provoke laughter, that is a comment on those who are laughing, not a comment on the war plans. In its day, War Plan RED was not meant to be funny.

The 1930 draft stated that “large parts of CRIMSON territory will become theaters of military operations with consequent suffering to the population and widespread destruction and devastation of the country… 24 In October
1934, the Secretary of War and Secretary of Navy approved an amendment authorizing the strategic bombing of Halifax, Montreal and Quebec City by “immediate air operations on as large a scale as practicable.”
General Douglas MacArthur who subsequently led US forces in The Pacific during World War II, not to mention the conduct of the carpet bombing raids against North Korea (1950-1953) was actively involved in the planning of the invasion of Canada from 1930-1937. General MacArthur had been appointed U.S Army Chief of Staff in 1930.

The war plan was explicitly geared towards the conquest of Canada by the U.S.
“The U.S. Army’s mission, [written in capital letters], was “ULTIMATELY, TO GAIN COMPLETE CONTROL OF CRIMSON [Canada].”
The war plan directed against Canada initially formulated in 1924 was entitled “Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan — Red”.
According to Floyd Rudmin quoting the original war documents (link no longer functional).
“Though ostensibly for war against Britain Plan RED is almost devoid of plans to fight the British. The Plan is focused on the conquest of Canada, which was color- coded CRIMSON. T The 1924 draft declared that U.S. “intentions are to hold in perpetuity all CRIMSON and RED territory gained… The Dominion government [of Canada] will be abolished.”
The US War Department acknowledged that this war was not against Britain. The strategic bombing of Halifax, Montreal and Quebec City was envisaged under Plan RED. Moreover, the US Army had been instructed (in capital letters),
“TO MAKE ALL NECESSARY PREPARATIONS FOR THE USE OF CHEMICAL WARFARE FROM THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. THE USE OF CHEMICAL WARFARE, INCLUDING THE USE OF TOXIC AGENTS, FROM THE INCEPTION OF HOSTILITIES, IS AUTHORIZED…” (quoted by Floyd Rudmin, op cit).
“In March 1935, General Douglas MacArthur proposed an amendment making Vancouver a priority [bombing] target comparable to Halifax and Montreal.” (Ibid)

The plan to invade Canada consisted of a 94-page document “with the word SECRET stamped on the cover. It had been formulated over a period of more than five years (See full text in Annex of my earlier article).
In February 1935, the [US] War Department arranged a Congressional appropriation of $57 million dollars to build three border air bases for the purposes of pre-emptive surprise attacks on Canadian air fields. The base in the Great Lakes region was to be camouflaged as a civilian airport and was to “be capable of dominating the industrial heart of Canada, the Ontario Peninsula” (from p. 61 of the February 11-13, 1935, hearings of the Committee on Military Affairs, House of Representatives, on Air Defense Bases (H.R. 6621 and H.R. 4130). This testimony was to have been secret but was published by mistake. See the New York Times, May 1, 1935, p. 1.
In August 1935, the US held its largest peacetime military manoeuvres in history, with 36,000 troops converging at the Canadian border south of Ottawa, and another 15,000 held in reserve in Pennsylvania. The war game scenario was a US motorized invasion of Canada, with the defending forces initially repulsing the invading Blue forces, but eventually to lose “outnumbered and outgunned” when Blue reinforcements arrive. This according to the Army’s pamphlet “Souvenir of of the First Army Maneuvers: The Greatest Peace Time Event in US History” (p.2). ( Professor F.W. One of the updates to the 1930 invasion plan was the use of chemical weapons against Canadian civilians:
“In 1934, War Plan Red was amended to authorize the immediate first use of poison gas against Canadians and to use strategic bombing to destroy Halifax if it could not be captured.” (Ibid)
It is worth noting that in the course of World War II, a decision was taken by the War Department to retain the invasion plan on the books. It was shelved. War Plan Red was declassified 35 years later in 1974.
The Washington Post, which casually dismissed the historical significance of “Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan — Red”, nonetheless acknowledged the aggressive nature of the proposed military endeavor:
“A bold plan, a bodacious plan, a step-by-step plan to invade, seize and annex our neighbor to the north. …First, we send a joint Army-Navy overseas force to capture the port city of Halifax, cutting the Canadians off from their British allies.

While the above Washington Post assessment describes the features of an all out war against Canada, the Global and Mail twists realities upside down. The Red War Plan to Attack CRIMSON was casually presented as a peacemaking endeavor to rightfully defend the U.S. against the British:
First approved in 1930, Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan – Red was drawn up to defend the United States in the event of war with Britain.
It was one of a series of such contingency plans produced in the late 1920s. Canada, identified as Crimson, would be invaded to prevent the Britons from using it as a staging ground to attack the United States. (Globe and Mail, December 31, 2005, emphasis add)

5. Canada’s National DefenseThe Canadian federal government and military were fully aware of these “Secret” US plans to invade Canada. In the 1920s, Lieutenant James “Buster” Sutherland Brown had been appointed Director of Military Operations and Intelligence in Ottawa to address the issue of Canada’s national security. (image right)
His tasks consisted in developing contingency war plans in the case of a US attack against the Dominion of Canada. Under the helm of “Buster” Sutherland Brown (subsequently promoted to Brigadier), Canada’s response to US threats was formulated under “Defence Scheme No. 1”, a counterattack contingency plan, in the case of a US invasion.
“Defense Scheme No. 1” was abandoned in 1931 by Canada’s chief of the general staff, A.G.L. McNaughton (following the adoption of “War Plan Red” in 1930) , on the grounds that “the Americans would inevitably win such a war” and there was no use in acting upon a contingency plan.

6. Ottawa Caves In
The watershed decision by the Conservative government of Prime Minister R. B. Bennett (image left) which came to office in August 1930 was to abandon Canada’s national defense plan. This decision constituted a de facto recognition of US hegemony in North America.
While the invasion of Canada under Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan — Red was not carried out, the military threat of a U.S invasion plan has served to oblige Canada to ultimately surrender to US political and economic pressures.

3 years on: workplace discrimination continues against 1000s of Unjabbed New Zealanders
More than two years after all covid19 policies were dropped… qualified, experienced Kiwis remain excluded from jobs they love
I’ve written before – extensively – about the totalitarian policies of the Ardern Government that imposed coercive ‘vaccine’ mandates on most public sector workers, and commercial entities too. For instance, here, here, here and here. But what is happening today, three years on. And what the hell can we do about it?
Many people are sceptical of the forthcoming NZ Gov Covid Inquiry, including the conflicts of interest of the Commissioners involved and the recent expansion of its Terms of Reference, to include the ‘vaccination’. Those of us who sat through some of the harrowing but censored scenes from witnesses to the Scottish Covid Inquiry, may also be wondering how on earth the essential evidence from these hearings, gets ‘out there’. And with our continued effort and support, it will. Eventually.
Meanwhile, here in NZ, there remains numerous examples of the >3 years old policies rigidly still in place. This is despite the High Court judgment against the NZ Defence Force confirming jab mandates an unreasonable imposition on our Human Rights.
Why we can’t ‘move on’.To highlight the extent of the problem, I’m providing a ‘snapshot’ – eight job vacancies – advertised with covid ‘vaccination’ requirements (screenshots included):
Support Worker for ‘Nurse Maude’This job involves caring for people with disabilities in the community. That means intimate care and overseeing meals and medications, including weekend work. This company claims:
“Our reputation for delivering consistently high-quality home support and nursing care is due in no small measure to the experience, professionalism, commitment, and sheer drive of our people. We are seeking experienced support workers to join our Homecare team across Christchurch.”
They are paying the minimal wage (or just above) for these ‘experienced, professional’ carers. That’s NZ$23.38 p/h. Oh, and only those who have had ‘ at least’ two doses of a ‘vaccine’ for a ‘flu’ that is now five years old. The mind boggles…
‘Facilitator’ working for Maori ‘charity’ and Public Private Partnership (PPP) Ngāti Porou Oranga,This entity is a ‘charitable trust’ and subsidiary of Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou. They claim to be “an integrated Hauora, Housing and Whānau Oranga (support services) provider…” and this role involves working with offenders and their families. It is full-time, and looks extremely demanding. This is from the job description:

Readers familiar with the story by now won’t be surprised to read Ngāti Porou Oranga’s Annual Report in Charities Services confirms last year, their income was nearly $30million, with most of that funding sourced from, you guessed it, the NZ Ministry of Health for ‘services rendered’.
Next? While paradoxical images of Trump flipping burgers whilst promoting MAHA are fresh on our minds, and we’re on the subject of wealthy tax-exempt commercial giants, let’s look at a job at McDonalds:
Housekeeper: shift-worker at a Ronald McDonald’s House for families with sick kids.The role includes cleaning, stock management and liaising sensitively with guests. And states explicitly:
“COVID-19 Vaccination: In order to maintain a safe and healthy work and accommodation environment and minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmission, RMHC New Zealand recommends that all employees and volunteers are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.”
Are we stuck in a timewarp here?
Community Nurse (Awhi Services) for Tui MedicalAgain, this is a demanding, full-time job, requiring high level expertise and qualifications in nursing. The pay is only $70,000 – $89,999 per year. Requirements:

The problem for many (mandated-out) healthcare professionals looking at this job, is not only are they not ‘vaccinated’ but they no longer hold an Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Nurses have been unfairly blacklisted and discriminated against for over three years; without an APC they are at risk of a Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal and cancellation of Nursing Council registration. Again, Tui Medical is a PPP – taking large sums from taxpayers’ funds to pay for interventions like covid jabs and ‘worried well’ tests that no-one wants. I’ve written about that topic previously, eg here and here.
‘Well Child’ Nurse for Southseas Healthcare Trust, Auckland.The purpose of the position is to offer a screening, surveillance, education and support service to all New Zealand children/ Pacific and their family from birth to five years old. The position provides a child-centered comprehensive service that focuses on improving child health, social and educational outcomes.
This is a nursing role focused on Islander [Pasifika] families: “Purpose: To contribute to the overall management of Child Development by providing expert nursing care, as necessary. To provide expert nursing care ensuring excellent health and improved child growth and development.” The role demands high level quals and experience, oh and at least THREE doses:
Healthcare Worker for Seibbor Healthcare Limited
This role is caring for a woman in her 40’s who has suffered a stroke. The part-time hours are just above minimal level. The employer states:
“Evidence of Covid-19 vaccination would be an advantage.”
I wonder why?
A Registered Nurse is required at an aged-care facility in Hastings.Apparently for this shiftwork job “We have a competitive remuneration package, as well as a wonderful culture.” Other attributes include:
Administrator Role, Kirikiriroa for Pathways.For those unfamiliar with the word Kirikiriroa it’s the Maori name for Hamilton (apparently). Incidentally, in an attack of wokeness by Council similar to that seen overseas, Hamilton’s statue was removed from the centre of the city ‘for safety reasons’. Anyway, that’s another Kiwi rabbit hole! Pathways is a nationwide provider of mental health support organisations providing a wide-range of services:

Other discriminating organisationsMeanwhile Student Nurses are still subject to jab mandates at Waikato University. Student Midwives are still subject to covid injection mandates at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Defence Force recruits are also subject to ‘vaccination’ mandates. The madness seems endless.
And this isn’t limited to healthcare vacancies, a factory job in a commercial bakery also insists on jabbed applicants only:
The purpose of this post about NZ job advert snapshots is to point out that:
a) staff shortages continue in healthcare and other sectors
b) these shortages could be lessened, if discriminatory (and quite frankly, ludicrous) ‘vaccine’ mandate requirements were removed.
c) Our New Zealand Bill of Rights Act (BORA), Anti-Discriminatory laws, the Privacy Act and most Employment legislation aimed at fair equality have all apparently been abolished, without a single word from the Human Rights Commission, professional bodies or the judiciary (to name a few).
Solutions!
Back in July 2022 the shortage of healthcare staff was causing tension when mandates were still in place. In response to the current, ongoing and unacceptable situation, Nurses For Freedom NZ (NFFNZ) Founder Deborah Cunliffe, explains how:
“The MOH and Health NZ implicated unvaccinated nurses as being unprofessional and unfit to work putting our communities at risk due to vaccine refusal. The MOH and Health NZ now need to bring healing to our nursing community by righting the wrongs and correcting the information. Strong leadership is needed. The messages that were given need to be rescinded otherwise we will continue to see mandates by proxy.” (my emphasis)
Helpfully, NFFNZ suggest two ‘Actionable Solutions’ :
1. A Governmental apology clearing all nurses, carers, midwives (students) of any wrongdoing in refusing the ‘vaccine’ – hence limiting the ongoing prejudice against us not only by employers but also by our professional communities and colleagues i.e. nursing council & nursing unions.
2. A clear consistent message from Government and Health New Zealand that any action by employers or professional associations discriminating against unvaccinated workers will be looked on unfavourably and subject to BORA/ law. This information needs to be disseminated to training institutions (ie AUT, Waikato University), contractors, those who are paid by Te Whatu Ora to provide services (ie private hospitals, GP Clinics) etc and include lower management in Health NZ ie Charge Nurses who still think unvaccinated nurses cannot be employed despite policy.
I remain an optimistic informed heart. But my patience is paper thin: when will our coalition Government acknowledge the elephant in the room and stop this illegal discrimination? How can our healthcare systems and patients recover from this?
