Abductions, extra-judicial killings surge in Syria under HTS rule

Press TVA new report says violence has surged in Syria under the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) rule, with approximately 400 kidnappings and extra-judicial killings since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s government in early December.
Sputnik news agency, citing medical sources, reported on Tuesday that most of the victims who were abducted or killed across Syria were members of the Alawite minority religious group, as acts of revenge continue in the Arab country.
The news agency, citing local sources, also noted that six civilians were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the Abbasiya neighborhood of the city of Homs on Monday.
“Their bodies were found after they were executed by firing squad” on the outskirts of the city, it said, adding that “five of them were from the same family.”
HTS militants launch attacks ‘every 10 minutes’ in Syrian minority cities amid media blackout: ReportThe sources further stated that the bodies of three people who were abducted by an armed group two weeks ago were found in the coastal city of Jableh.
The fate of four young men who were also kidnapped by masked gunmen riding two four-wheel drive vehicles in Homs is also unknown, the sources added.
According to Sputnik, a further 15 people have also been kidnapped in the western port city of Latakia in the past 48 hours.
The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also reported that the HTS militant group has carried out a raid in the town of Ras al-Ma’arra in the Damascus countryside, killing its mayor, and arresting 30 people.
On December 8, militants, led by the HTS, took control of Damascus and declared an end to President Bashar al-Assad’s rule in a surprise offensive that was launched from their stronghold in northwestern Syria, reaching the capital in less than two weeks.
The HTS has repeatedly claimed it would respect the rights of all sects and religions in Syria.
The situation, however, remains very fragile, with a potential risk of further clashes as sectarian sentiments continue to boil over, amid the ongoing political instability and pressure on minority groups.
Over 750 people killed in Syria throughout 2024: Report
Separately on Monday, the UK-based SOHR reported that Daesh terrorists had killed around 753 people during 491 recorded operations in Syria throughout 2024.
The report stated that Daesh continues “executing almost-daily military operations and counter-attacks” in areas controlled by the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), while the terrorist group’s cells “are still able to exploit opportunities to create a security vacuum and carry out assassinations.”
This clearly indicates that the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group “is still alive and kicking,” it added.
According to the report, these operations included ambushes, armed attacks, and bombing which were concentrated in the northern cities of Aleppo, Hama, Raqqa, the central city of Homs and the eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr, where a total of 646 people were killed.
It further noted that at least 78 of those killed were civilians, including women and children, while 568 were members of defected Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
How ex-Daesh and al-Qaeda leader al-Jolani became West’s blue-eyed boy in SyriaFurthermore, another 107 people were killed in areas controlled by the Kurdish-led SDF in Dayr al-Zawr, Hasakah, Aleppo, and Raqqah, the report said.
This comes as concerns are growing over the fate of 10,000 Daesh terrorists imprisoned by the SDF in northeast Syria as the terrorist group continues to revitalize its forces.
The HTS leader, Abu Mohammad al-Julani, has not commented on the crisis since seizing power in December.
Syria has been gripped by foreign-sponsored militancy since March 2011.
The former Damascus government blamed Western states and their regional allies for aiding terrorist groups to wreak havoc in the Arab country.

Ukraine ends transit of Russian gas to EU

Slovakia has threatened to cut electricity to Kiev following the suspension
Russia has officially ceased gas transit through Ukraine to the EU as of 8am Moscow time on January 1. Russian energy giant Gazprom announced the halt after negotiations to extend the transit agreements with Ukrainian companies Naftogaz and the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, which have been in place since 2019, fell through.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, Gazprom said, “Due to the repeated and clear refusal of the Ukrainian side to extend these agreements, Gazprom was deprived of the technical and legal opportunity to supply gas for transit through Ukraine starting from January 1, 2025.” As a result, gas supplies to Europe via this route are now completely suspended.
The gas pipeline that traverses Ukraine leads into Slovakia, which had hoped to continue receiving Russian gas and urged Ukraine to extend the transit agreements. In response to Kiev’s decision to stop the gas transit, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico threatened last week to cut electricity supplies to Ukraine.
The five-year contract for Russian gas deliveries through Ukraine expired despite ongoing long-term agreements between Gazprom and several European buyers.
Ukrainian officials confirmed the cessation of transit, calling it a “historic event” in the interests of national security. Kiev has long denied the possibility of a new transit deal with Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the finality of the situation during his annual press conference on December 19, stating, “This transit contract will not exist anymore, it’s clear. This documentary tells the story of Ukrainian prisoners of war who opt to enroll in the Russian military rather waiting to be traded for Russian POWs. Thirty-percent of the several thousand Ukrainian POWs in custody sign contracts to join Russian-led detachments.
The film consists mainly of personal interviews with Ukrainian POWs and scenes from their training exercises. Most speak of brainwashing they received that Russian were beasts who would torture them if they surrendered. They express surprise at the fairness and understanding of their captors and embarrassment about their Nazi tattoos. They also talk about the West starting the war in Ukraine, with one describing his Ukrainian brothers “being infected by a rabid dog.” Most consider Russian their primary language and view Russians and Ukrainians as sharing a common ethnicity and literature
Rather than combat roles where they would fight other Ukrainians, most serve in units where they help injured Russian troops evacuate and provide primary medical care. Two the former POWs featured have been recommended for medals for service to the Russian army. One is working towards moving his Ukrainian family to Russia.
About 60% of POWs choose not to join the Russian army, many out of concern the Ukrainian government will retaliate against their family back home. Instead they’re waiting to be exchanged for Russian POWs (which according to the filmmakers, is unlikely). They’re well aware they face redeployment to the front line if they return and face the threat of their own officers shooting them if they retreat.

The BBC is dealing with a major internal revolt about its reporting on the Israel-Gaza conflict. Journalists are claiming the organization is systematically biased and frames the story in a particular way.

Mainstream media rarely engage in outright media lies, but it does happen. Just think of the mass grave in Timișoara, the incubator babies in Kuwait, or the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. (For a more detailed explanation of these blatant lies, see the Annex at the end of the article.)
More often, the distortion of reality happens more subtly, through framing, omitting or underreporting events, leaving out context, selecting experts, exaggerating facts, using misleading headlines, suggestive photos, and so on.
In most cases, this distortion of reality does not originate with individual journalists but is initiated and driven by their editors. These editors, in turn, are under pressure from commercial media tycoons. In the case of public broadcasters, they are under political tutelage and control.
Another filter that colors the reporting comes from advertisers. Reports that are not conducive to their profit expectations are avoided as much as possible.
To keep journalists in line, there are three mechanisms. Firstly, it is checked whether their ideology more or less corresponds with that of the editor and the employer. When they are hired, this is not obvious, but over time it is possible and determines further career opportunities.
Secondly, to keep things manageable and to avoid jeopardizing their careers journalists conform to editorial pressure by applying self-censorship.
If these two mechanisms are insufficient, the editor will either adjust any ‘disturbing’ elements on rereading, or certain passages will simply be deleted. In the worst case, entire articles or reports are not published.
BBC and GazaFor unimportant or politically neutral subjects, editorial interventions are usually unnecessary. It is primarily when events are politically charged that reporting is distorted or manipulated. Over the past 15 months, this has certainly been the case with the genocide in Gaza.
As outsiders, we are usually unaware of how reporting is manipulated and directed. There is no real gag order, but an individual journalist who spills the beans can fear for his or her career prospects.
It is only when things get out of hand and a group of journalists publicly express their grievances that we get a glimpse of this invisible but very present pressure on reporting. In recent months, this has been the case with regard to BBC reporting on the war against Gaza.
In November 2024, more than 100 journalists from the public broadcaster signed an open letter calling for fairer and more accurate reporting.
They accuse the BBC of systematic bias, emphasizing Israeli narratives, undervaluing Palestinian victims, and failing to reflect the asymmetry of the conflict.
The criticism is primarily directed at the online news department, which plays a key role in how millions of people worldwide interpret the situation in Gaza.
Structural BiasThe discontent among journalists is the result of years of frustration. Many employees claim that reporting on Israel and Palestine is structurally influenced by senior management, and in particular by Raffi Berg, head of the online Middle East desk.
The BBC Falls for Murdoch’s BaitBerg is accused of editing articles and headlines in such a way as to downplay criticism of Israel. Complaints from journalists about his influence are said to be consistently ignored by the management.
The journalists proposed explicitly stating that Israel does not grant access to Gaza to foreign reporters. They want Israel’s responsibility to be more clearly stated and for experts in human rights and war crimes to be proportionately referred to and given the floor as sources.
These calls were largely ignored, further fueling frustration among employees.
IncidentsSeveral incidents have escalated internal tensions. In December 2024, Amnesty International published a report accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza. Journalists criticized the BBC for its minimal and delayed attention to this report.
While other news organizations prominently featured the report, it was only mentioned on the BBC website 12 hours after publication and only as the seventh item on the front page. The report was initially even missing from the special ‘Israel-Gaza war’ section, leading to significantly fewer readers.
Another widely discussed case was the reporting on Muhammad Bhar, a Palestinian man with Down syndrome, who was attacked by an Israeli military dog and left to die.
The original headline “The lonely death of a Gaza man with Down syndrome” was heavily criticized because it did not clearly state Israel’s responsibility. After public and internal pressure, the headline was changed, but even then, the responsibility of the Israeli military was not adequately stated.
The Role of Management
Raffi Berg’s interference is seen as a central problem. He is said to have a disproportionate influence on the editorial line and to rewrite articles in order to present Israel in a more favorable light. Even experienced reporters working in the field must have their copy approved by Berg before it is published.
Berg is alleged to adjust headlines and texts to emphasize the Israeli side and weaken Palestinian claims.
The management is accused of ignoring these concerns. Despite multiple ‘listening sessions’ in which journalists voiced their criticisms, little or nothing has been done to improve the situation.
Inequality in ReportingA data analysis of more than 2,900 articles and headlines on the BBC news website shows that Palestinian victims are described in a less human and emotional manner than Israeli victims.
Terms such as ‘massacre’ and ‘atrocity’ are used disproportionately more often for Palestinian actions than for Israeli military operations. In only 27% of cases where Palestinians die, the perpetrator is explicitly named in the headline, compared to 43% in cases of Israeli victims.
By comparison, in reporting on Ukraine, Russian war crimes are more explicitly described, which, according to employees, shows that the BBC is hesitant to criticize Israel. This pattern reinforces the feeling that the organization is sparing the Israeli government.
BBC’s ResponseThe BBC has rejected the accusations, stating that it adheres to strict guidelines for impartiality. In a statement, the BBC emphasized: “We report impartially and without fear or favor”.
While mistakes are acknowledged and corrected, many BBC journalists believe that critical shortcomings in the reporting persist and that corrections often come too late. They believe that the current reporting does not meet the journalistic standards that the BBC claims to uphold.
As one journalist put it: “There has to be a moral line drawn in the sand. And if this story isn’t it, then what?”
The distortions in BBC reporting and the pressure from management have come to light because journalists from that broadcaster have found the courage to no longer remain silent. The pressure from editors-in-chief will not be equally strong everywhere, but you can assume that this pressure is present in all mainstream media and colors the reporting.
Today, mainstream media are more than ever companies with large commercial interests and have a significant political impact. Reporting – and its framing – plays a major role in how citizens understand the world, how voters make political choices, and how people consume. So, there is a lot at stake.

Bloomberg argued that RFK Jr.’s opposition to pandemic vaccines could prevent the approval of “life-saving” bird flu vaccines. But are these fears warranted, or is the public being swept into unnecessary panic?
Mass Killing of LivestockBetween January 2022 and December 2024, 122,960,216 birds have been euthanized to “stop the spread” of bird flu.7 What if those were false positive tests?
Infected and exposed animals are often culled — a practice that has primarily impacted chickens in recent years but now, for the first time, includes dairy cows. While specific numbers of culled cows are not always detailed in public reports, the available information indicates that culling is a significant component of the response to H5N1 outbreaks in dairy herds.

[…]The Impact on the Food SupplyLarge-scale livestock culling can have a profound impact on the food supply. After all, you can’t just snap your fingers and — boom — a new chicken or cow appears.
There is currently a nationwide egg shortage in the United States, primarily due to a significant outbreak of avian influenza (bird flu). This outbreak has led to the loss of millions of egg-laying hens, resulting in decreased egg production and increased prices.
Is the nation’s milk supply next? A drop in milk production wouldn’t just affect what’s in your glass — it also means less butter, cream, cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products on shelves. A combination of false positive tests, mass culling, and quarantines could lead to a huge reduction to the nation’s milk supply — hindering our ability to access nutritious food.
One example is Raw Farm in California, which is currently not allowed to distribute milk and has been temporarily shut down. Despite “no human bird flu cases associated with the product have been confirmed to date,” the California Public Health Department has recalled all Raw Farm brand milk and cream on store shelves in the state of California since the milk and cream tested positive for bird flu.
The farm is under quarantine, preventing it from distributing any new batches of its raw milk, cream, kefir, butter and cheese products. The California Public Health department said that the overall risk to the public remains low, but that quarantining will help “retain” the issue.
There have been ZERO cases where someone got bird flu by drinking raw milk. Is this bird flu “pandemic” an attempt to obtain complete control of the food system?
The War on Raw Milk“Who controls the food supply controls the people.” — Henry Kissinger
Are FDA regulators using bird flu as an excuse to take action against raw milk? “What they don’t want is for raw milk to thrive, and that’s a political decision they made years ago,” Mark McAfee at Raw Farm said of the FDA. “It’s a new angle to try and discourage us.”8
None of McAfee’s cows (at Raw Farm) had flu symptoms before their milk tested positive, and he noted that no human cases of bird flu have been linked to consuming raw milk. All the more reason, he said, to look with skepticism at the “long-term plan to make sure raw milk doesn’t come back.”
Government regulators are warning against raw milk consumption due to bird flu concerns, yet they admit there hasn’t been a single documented case of anyone contracting bird flu from drinking it.
Health officials in California are currently warning against raw milk consumption after a child there was suspected to have contracted bird flu9 after consuming raw milk. However, in an updated report, the child tested negative for bird flu.10
Unnecessary Fear?A systemic review for North America has documented a higher risk of hospitalization and death from listeriosis associated with pasteurized, not raw, milk.11
On top of this, no virus is known to be transmitted through raw milk.12 And that is according to recent CDC data for all foodborne illnesses from 2005 to 2020. The CDC dataset includes 3,807 milkborne illnesses (2,111 of which is associated with pasteurized milk).13 All were linked to bacterial pathogens — not one viral illness was associated with milk, raw or pasteurized.
On top of that, raw milk has numerous antiviral properties from the many bioactive compounds.14 “The available evidence does not support the assumption of zero risk for pasteurized milk nor the assumption of an increasing trend in the burden of illness after a change in state legal status for raw milk.”15
It is unlikely that raw milk could transmit bird flu to the people who drink it, as no virus is known to be transmitted through raw milk.
Even the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) admits, “we do not know at this time if the HPAI [highly pathogenic avian influenza; bird flu] H5N1 virus can be transmitted to humans through consumption of raw milk and products made from raw milk from infected cows,” but it insisted that states “stop the sale of raw milk that may present a risk to consumers.”16
[image error]Faulty Testing?Just like with COVID, government agencies are relying on PCR tests as they ramp up testing for bird flu. But PCR tests are extremely inaccurate and lead to significant levels of false positives.17
PCR testing works by replicating tiny fragments of DNA or RNA until they become large enough to identify. The fragments are replicated in cycles, and each cycle doubles the amount of genetic material in the sample. The number of cycles required to create an identifiable sample is the “cycle threshold” (CT). A high CT means many cycles were required to “detect” a virus.
In December 2020, even the WHO warned that using a high CT would lead to false-positive results. Moreover, Kary Mullis, who won the Nobel Prize for inventing the PCR test, has said it is inappropriate to use the test as a diagnostic tool to detect a viral infection.18
Yet the government is mass producing and encouraging PCR testing with no reporting on CTs. A big part of the CDCs new $93 million plan to reduce the impact of bird flu involves testing.19 The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) did not respond to “The Defender’s” inquiry about which CTs are used to test animals for bird flu.20
False positives can help them spread fear, encourage vaccinations, and mandate the mass killing of cattle herds of chicken flocks. The FDA has found bird flu in raw milk using PCR testing, but there was no mention of the Cycle Threshold in this report.21
However, the FDA did create a testing protocol on August 22, 2024 that required raw milk is tested for bird flu using a PCR test with a cycle threshold of 4522 — which is pretty much guaranteed to produce false-positives.23
High cycle threshold values (over 35) typically indicate very low levels of viral RNA from degraded, noninfectious fragments. Potential background noise or contamination may also produce false positives.
Another issue with the PCR test is its inability to differentiate between infectious and noninfectious viruses. While cows infected with bird flu stop shedding live virus after about 12 days, they can continue to shed non-viable viral fragments for weeks or even months.24
Are Vaccines on the Horizon?As of December 11, 2024, the U.S. administration has no plans to authorize the distribution of avian influenza (bird flu) vaccines. While officials continue to monitor the outbreak, they maintain that a vaccine isn’t currently necessary since the virus isn’t spreading among people or causing severe illness.
However, there are preparations “in place.” The National Pre-Pandemic Influenza Vaccine Stockpile, managed by the Department of Health and Human Services, holds enough bulk antigens to produce vaccines against flu viruses with pandemic potential. This stockpile could supply enough H5N1 vaccine doses to immunize critical care workers and at-risk populations, with the capacity to produce millions more within weeks.
Additionally, the federal government has two bird flu vaccine candidates in limited quantities within the stockpile. These vaccines, however, would require authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before they could be deployed.
“BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) and vaccine manufacturers GSK and CSL Seqirus already are conducting trials on updated H5 vaccines in adults and expect to have data ready next year. Officials said vaccine trials will include children contingent on funding.
BARDA’s goal in the event of a pandemic is to deliver the first doses of pandemic vaccine within three months of a pandemic declaration, and to have sufficient supply to meet public demand within four months of a declaration and enough for the entire U.S. population within six months of a declaration.”25

As of December 16, 2024, U.S. federal agencies have issued their first mandatory H5N1 bird flu testing protocols in California, Colorado, Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and Oregon — with plans to expand to all states.
Entities involved in the dairy supply chain — including dairy farms, bulk milk transporters, transfer stations, and dairy processing facilities that send or hold milk for pasteurization — will now be required to provide samples upon request.

Stated to be “fictional”, there is a lot information revealed in this monologue film that is certainly not fictional based on other historical sources.
The “fictional” Nixon in this film is very bitter at how his presidency went down, and reveals details about a secret society that he said goes by many names, but he knew them as the “Council of 100”, where they met at Bohemian Grove each year, and how they were the real power behind presidential politics.
This “fictional” Nixon is seemingly blowing the whistle on who really runs the United States.

Predictions for Second Quarter of 21st Century

Why is it that Y2K was supposed to have been an earth-shattering event whereas the passing of the first quarter of the 21st century is commonly seen as a nonevent? This in spite of the fact that the world has changed dramatically and that this is something that has become plain to see just as the calendar approached the dividing line between quarters one and two of the 21st century. Here I will just list out some obvious changes that have occurred. For many people around the world these are obvious while others languish in denial. Here is a top-10 list of what I think we should expect in quarter two.
1. The US will no longer be an industrial world power. It will still be a regional power but it is hard to predict for how long. US industrial has treaded water since the turn of the century while other nations have leaped ahead. US industrial production grew by 10% since Y2K and by 0% since 2019. Meanwhile, starting from the turn of the century, China grew by close to 1000%, Russia by over 200%, India by over 320%. So-called “developed nations” (US and Western Europe) have not grown at all since 2019. Western European economies all peaked in 2007-8 except for Germany which peaked in 2017. Italy is the sickest patient of the bunch, its industrial production having decreased by a quarter so far this century.
2. The US will no longer be a military superpower. It is noncompetitive in both its weapons production (Russia can produce artillery shells 10 times faster) and in weapons development (having failed to develop any usable hypersound weapons systems and being far behind in missile defense technology). Its major investment in maritime power is in its aircraft carrier groups and they have been rendered obsolete by precision long-range weapons that can sink an aircraft carrier from a safe distance. Its nuclear deterrent is too old to be considered reliable. The entire US defense establishment, starting with the Pentagon and including the defense contractors and much of US Congress, is utterly corrupt.
3. Much of the terminology that people still habitually use is no longer applicable. There is no longer a “world order” that can be identified. “Globalism” is dead as the planet is splitting up into clubs of nations such as BRICS. “International law” is no longer an item, now that 40 thousand sanctions have been illegally imposed on Russia. Not that Russia is even complaining; since there is no longer a “world order” by which such illegal sanctions can be enforced, they don’t mean much. Nor is there any longer an “international community” to speak of. Its latest reincarnation, the “rules-based international order” constantly prattled about by useless American busybodies, is likewise dead on arrival. Western neoliberalism is now openly rejected by much of the planet, including “universal human values” and with them individualism, feminism, homosexuality and atheism/agnosticism. “Human rights” are falling increasingly out of fashion as much of the world is going back to the older set of universal values of faith, loyalty, honor, duty, merit and privilege earned through public service. Increasing numbers of Western families are claiming political refuge from the LGBT scourge by emigrating to Russia, Americans foremost among them (LGBT has been declared extremist and outlawed in Russia).
4. Given the shambles of electoral politics in the US and in Europe, Western-style “democracy” is no longer anything that anyone could reasonably aspire to. After the failure of every method legal and illegal to get rid of Trump, he is headed for inauguration — and that’s the best outcome, since the will of the people was not suppressed. In other Western “democracies” the picture is not so rosy: in France, an effort is being made to disqualify Marine Le Pen from running, to make sure that she doesn’t gain the presidency; in Germany, similar efforts are being made to outlaw Alternative for Germany. Add to that a failed color revolution attempt in Georgia after the Georgians did the unspeakable and voted for a government that is not anti-Russian. And Romania wasn’t even allowed to get that far: its election results were invalidated after a non-anti-Russian outsider won in the first round. And then there is that “young democracy” — the Ukraine — still run by a president whose term has expired last May.
5. Climate catastrophism is no longer in fashion. Blaming nonexistent “global warming” on a trace chemical — CO2, which is actually plant food — no longer works. The “greenest” nation in the world, thanks to hydroelectric power and huge boreal forests, turns out to be Russia — oops! Solar panels and wind generators are nonrenewable: they have to be purchased again and again — from China! They are also not too useful because of the problem of intermittency, environmentally destructive and a major toxic waste disposal hazard. Having been swindled into pursuing the empty promise of “renewable energy”, the US and Europe have lost the ability to build nuclear power plants quickly enough or cheaply enough to make a difference while Russia and China have both leaped ahead of them. Russia is now the main provider of nuclear power technology in the world and has succeeded in closing the nuclear fuel cycle, solving the problem of high-level nuclear waste disposal. Industrialists in the US are now talking about new nuclear power development but have no ability or expertise to make it happen.
6. Peak Oil is back on the menu. Since the conventional oil peak of 2005-6, shale oil produced in the US has made up for production declines just about everywhere else. But now it turns out that shale oil has also peaked at the very end of Q1 XXI and is now trending down. Meanwhile, Russia, which is another major oil producer, is increasingly finding better uses for its oil than to export it. It is now reasonable to expect that sometime not too far into quarter two transportation fuels will be in increasingly short supply. Nations that depend on transoceanic shipping will be hurt the most. Of these, we should expect Western Europe to feel the most intense pain, having given up on both Russian hydrocarbon pipelines and nuclear energy and instead choosing to import liquefied natural gas from the US (which won’t be coming for much longer).
7. The number of failed states around the world will continue to increase. At the top of the list for new failed-statedom are the few remaining secular Arab nations. Iraq, Libya and now Syria are now gone; Egypt may be next to fail. The term “territorial integrity,” especially as it applies to various artificial lines on the map drawn in the course of or at the end of the colonial era, is not likely to remain aspirational for much longer. Similarly, the internal territorial boundaries drawn up by Bolsheviks that have miraculously survived the dissolution of the USSR are unlikely to continue to receive the respect they have never deserved. Likewise, “national sovereignty” will no longer be applied willy-nilly to nations that have no national sovereignty and are barely even nations. Syria is a case in point: it is some arbitrary chunk arbitrarily carved out of the remains of the Ottoman Empire. Israel is another. Lots of little statelets scattered around the world — Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Abkhazia, Transnistria, South Ossetia… — will need to merge with an actually sovereign entity, which will most likely end up being Russia.<
8. In the absence of anything one might call an international world order or a universal system of international law, the world is becoming increasingly violent and messy. The few nations that retain their sovereignty and territorial integrity will close their borders to migration and will not provide humanitarian aid strictly on humanitarian grounds. They will not have the lattitude to help outsiders at the expense of their own citizens and any political leaders who attempt to do so will quickly be voted out or overthrown. Look at what has been happening with regard to the ongoing Israeli genocide in Palestine: lots of talk and hardly any action — not even symbolic action. Israeli sports teams are allowed to participate in international competitions, no questions asked. Look also at the eagerness with which countries in Europe have started discussing throwing out Syrian refugees as soon as Bashar Assad departed for Moscow, never mind that Syria is dissolving into chaos and civil war before their eyes.
9. As we head into quarter two, artificial intelligence is all the buzz. The new AI chips are so power-hungry that tech companies are considering building new power plants especially to power them. But the reality of AI is not exactly all rosy. First of all, nobody knows how AI systems work; that is, their reasoning process is unfathomable even to the experts and a reasonable guess is that there is no reasoning process involved. It is already recongized that AI systems lie with great alacrity, cannot understand when they lie and when they don’t, and readily contrive utterly false rationales for getting facts wrong. As the internet becomes inundated with content produced by AI systems, which will then serve as input to these same AI systems, a destructive feedback loop will become established, resulting in a garbage-in, garbage-out scenario. Once that happens, people will have to abandon the internet and to seek out printed books from before the advent of AI as the only sources of reliable information. Meanwhile, as AI becomes more and more deeply embedded in social systems, it will cease to be artificial and will become increasingly organic — commingled with human brains — and increasingly unintelligent. In the end, it will be down to very stupid, ignorant people completely reliant on very stupid, ignorant information systems. Once the lights go out, they will no longer know how to boil water.
10. Over the course of quarter two, in various countries and communities around the world, depopulation will rear its ugly head. There are now many places where women give birth to fewer than two children, on average, and this means that the birth rate is below replacement and each next cohort will become smaller than the previous one. South Korea is perhaps the worst, with a fertility rate of just 0.72. This means that each next generation of South Koreans will be barely a third the size of the previous one. That way lies extinction. The survivors will be religious and patriarchal, for these are the communities with the highest birthrates. This may not sit well with certain liberal-minded readers, but the situation happens to be beyond anyone’s control, so why fret about it. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.”

At no time does the article mention the eugenist nature of deliberate population reduction, in connection with the covid plandemic, the coerced and by many accounts poisonous – vaccination campaign, with a non-vaccine, but instead a novel, totally untested mRNA-type “gene therapy” which the US CDC has allowed to be applied as an “emergency measure” in these dire circumstances of a pandemic, that actually lacks all characteristics of a pandemic, but has to be pumped up to make it appear as a pandemic – with literally almost all deaths appearing from whatever causes – even car accidents – can be – and “must” be categorized as covid deaths.

Enterovirus D685 is typically associated with cold and flu-like illness in infants, children and teens. In rare cases, it’s also been known to cause viral meningitis and acute flaccid myelitis, a neurological condition resulting in muscle weakness and loss of reflexes in one or more extremities.

Collapsing Empire: RIP ‘Overt Operations’

The Endowment grant database served as an invaluable tool for keeping a close eye on Washington’s international intrigues and mapping the personal and organizational connections of agents and entities of influence.
In recent months, a remarkable development in the Empire’s decline has gone almost entirely unnoticed. The National Endowment for Democracy’s grant database has been removed from the web. Until recently, a searchable interface allowed visitors to view detailed records of Washington-funded NGOs, civil society, and media projects in particular countries – covering most of the world – the sums involved, and entities responsible for delivering them. This resource has now inexplicably vanished, and with it, enormous amounts of incontrovertible, self-incriminating evidence of destructive US skullduggery abroad.
Take for example NED grant records for Georgia, the site of recent repeated color revolution efforts, at the forefront of which were Endowment-bankrolled organizations. While still accessible via internet archives, they were deleted during the summer. Today, visitors to associated URLs are redirected to a brief entry simply titled “Eurasia”. The accompanying text describes in very broad terms the Endowment’s aims regionally and the total being spent, but the crucial questions of where and on what aren’t clarified. In a comic hypocrisy too, the blurb boldly states:
“The heart of NED’s work in the region is the need to maintain access to objective information for local populations. Across the region, government actors are attempting to limit the space for citizens to distribute information and communicate freely online.”
Resultantly, independent academics, activists, researchers, and journalists have been deprived of an invaluable resource for tracking and exposing the Empire’s machinations. Yet, the Endowment incinerating its public paper trail can only be considered a significant victory for these same actors. NED’s explicit and avowed raison d’être was to do publicly what US intelligence did – and in many cases still does – covertly. Now, after 40 years of wreaking havoc worldwide in service of the Empire, the CIA front has been forced underground, defeating its entire purpose.
‘Spyless Coups’NED was founded in November 1983, after the CIA became embroiled in a series of embarrassing public scandals. Then-Agency director William Casey was central to its construction. His objective was to create a public mechanism to conduct traditional CIA meddling overseas, except out in the open. Ever since, the Endowment has financed countless opposition groups, activist movements, media outlets, and trade unions to the tune of millions to engage in propaganda and political activism, to disrupt, destabilize, and displace ‘enemy’ regimes the world over.
The NED’s true nature was openly acknowledged by the mainstream media for many years. In June 1986, Endowment’s president Carl Gershman told the New York Times, “It would be terrible for democratic groups around the world” to be subsidized by the CIA. The exposure of such connivances meant they had been “discontinued”, and farmed out to NED. Several high-ranking interviewees strenuously denied there was any connection between NED and the Agency, although the outlet acknowledged many Endowment programs seemed “superficially similar” to past CIA operations.

Syria’s new leadership receives Ukrainian FM in Damascus

Syria’s de facto ruler Ahmad al-Sharaa, better known as former Al-Qaeda chief Abu Mohammad al-Julani, and the country’s new Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaybani hosted Ukraine’s top diplomat in the capital, Damascus, on 30 December.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha arrived in the capital at the head of a high-level delegation, which included President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s special envoy.
“We seek to cooperate with the new Syrian administration in several areas. We share with Syria the suffering from unjust regimes,” Sybiha was quoted as saying. “We are ready to help Syria in collecting evidence and investigating the crimes of the former regime and Russia.”
“Russia and Assad regime are partners in committing atrocities in Syria. We believe that relations between our two countries will witness great development,” he added.
The foreign minister went on to say, “If you can expel the Russians from your lands, you will ensure your security and the security of neighboring countries.”
Shaybani said during the meeting that his country is “turning the page” on the era of the former government of Bashar al-Assad, stressing that there will be a “strategic partnership” between Damascus and Kiev.
Sharaa’s organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), formerly known as the Nusra Front (Al-Qaeda’s offshoot in Syria), appointed a transitional authority following the collapse of the Syrian army and the fall of Damascus on 8 December after an 11-day shock offensive that took the region by surprise.
Over the past few years, Ukraine has provided crucial support to HTS and other extremist factions under its command – who were based in Syria’s northern Idlib governorate before the assault that ended the Assad government.
HTS militants and fighters from ISIS and other extremist groups have also been deployed in Ukraine to fight Russian forces.
Before the launch of the offensive on 27 November, Ukrainian drone experts had been training and equipping extremist militants in Idlib.
The Russian military intervened in Syria in 2015 in support of Assad’s government, helping the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) turn the tide against several groups who had taken over large swathes of the country – including the Nusra Front, which became HTS.
Moscow and the former Al-Qaeda branch have established a line of contact since Assad’s government fell in early December.
“Russia is an important country and is considered the second most powerful country in the world. There are deep strategic interests between Russia and Syria. All Syrian weapons are Russian, and many power stations are run by Russian expertise,” Sharaa said on 29 December. “We do not want Russia to leave Syria in the way some people would like.”
Russia has said that the future of its presence in Syria will depend on the outcome of talks with the country’s new authorities following the transitional period.
