Arsenal 6-0 Lens: Champions League – as it happened

Kai Havertz opened the scoring as Arsenal scored five times in the first half to romp into the last 16

That PSV result does put a bit of pressure on Arsenal, though it puts far more on Lens. If they lose tonight, they’re out. Arsenal have two chances.

This is how Group B looks after that mighty victory for PSV Eindhoven, who were 2-0 down when Sevilla’s Lucas Ocampos was sent off in the 66th minute.

Palestine 0-1 Australia: 2026 World Cup qualifier – as it happened

Harry Souttar scored his 10th goal in only 21 international appearances to give the Socceroos victory in a scrappy game in Kuwait

5 min Ataa Jaber is fouled clumsily by Duke, just outside the area on the right. Seyam is over the ball…

2 min The match is underway, though I missed the first 90 seconds due to technical problems. Australia, in their away kit, are on the attack as I type.

The holders clinched their place in Germany next summer with a thrilling if fraught goalless draw in Leverkusen

8 min The young centre-back Buongiorno is booked for pulling back Dovbyk, who was galloping away from him down the right.

7 min: Great chance for Barella! Italy should be ahead. They took a short corner on the left, with the ball eventually crossed beyond the far post. Zaniolo headed it back across goal and Barella, eight yards out, miskicked a half-volley over the bar.

India beat New Zealand to reach Cricket World Cup final – as it happened

Virat Kohli made a record 50th one-day international century and Mohammed Shami grabbed seven wickets as New Zealand went down to a gallant defeat

The pundits on Sky Sports – Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan and Nasser Hussain – think the change of pitch may increase New Zealand’s chances, because batting could be more awkward against the spinners this afternoon. We’ll soon find out.

I’m off to grab a coffee, after which the pitching will stop and the contest will begin. In the meantime, read this cracking piece from Ali Martin on one of the players of the tournament.
