Federal Employees ♥ Ron
Just as Ron Paul gets more donations from military employees than any other candidate, he also gets more from federal civilian employees, and military-industrial complex workers, too. What's the explanation? People are capable of putting principle ahead of short-term economic interest. That's why, no matter how many are riding on the taxpayer's back, all is far from lost.
UPDATE from Wayne Goodfellow:
"As a former employee of Natural Resources Canada, I can well understand why civil servants and military personnel support Ron Paul. Unlike the general public, people working inside the system are confronted on a daily basis with corruption, incompetence, wasted tax dollars and promotions not based on merit. Anyone governed by a strong moral code is naturally repulsed by the system and frustrated by their inability to improve the system. People cope in different ways. Some try to change the system, ultimately fail and basically opt out by isolating themselves within the organization. Others just give up and quit their jobs. And still others check their morals – if they have any – at the door each morning and rise to high levels by working the system. These are commonly the people who end up in positions of power which of course only accelerates the rate of decline of government departments. From my experience, governments operate on a reverse-merit basis which partly explains why they always fail. I was an Earth scientist for many years working in the area of minerals research and the major reason I left is that I could no longer deal with an immoral system. Needless to say, they were glad to see me go because scientists who put principle above loyalty are not appreciated."

Tom Woods: 'Is (Iowa Conservative) Bob Vander Plaats for World Government?'
Of course. The Christian rightists want the US to be the world government, and to build the kingdom of God on earth through guns and bombs, and not the US's UN.

Bill Sardi sends along an email he received today:
"I am a left leaning die hard 70 year old Democrat...guess who I love for President.....Ron Paul.....Can't believe I said that but he is the only one I trust and believe that he truly will speak for the people....."
Debate Stats
Ron got 9 minutes and 57 seconds. Better than 89 seconds, but still insufficient, especially since he was the only candidate not reading off the neocon bullet points. Here are the figures. (Thanks to Travis Holte)
What's the IQ of the Christian Right?
Bob Vander Plaats's statist-warmongering Iowa "family" group will not endorse moral leader Ron Paul. As BVP awkwardly put it, "The stumbling block for the board regarding Representative Paul dealt primarily with 'States' Rights' as it pertains to the sanctity of human life and God's design for marriage."
That is, marriage--which antedates the State and has been attacked and devalued by the State--should be run by the State. Ron's position is that marriage is for the Church, not the State, and should not be nationalized, or run by government at any level. But if government is involved, it should be decentralized. Does Vander Plaats really believe the FBI should be in charge? My guess is that, like virtually every pro-life leader (but kill the Muslim unborn), he is simply a shill for the Republican party. These issues are raised at election time and then ignored until the next "advance auction of stolen goods," as Mencken defined an one of these vicious political festivals.
