Fake News Campaign

Syrian and allied forces, greatly aided by Russian airpower, are relentlessly smashing US-supported terrorists.

Washington, NATO, Israel and their rogue allies want things reversed to regain the upper hand, escalating aggressive war their strategy.

They want Syrian sovereignty destroyed, overwhelmingly popular Assad ousted, pro-Western puppet governance installed, Iran isolated, and the diabolical scheme repeated against Iran’s legitimate ruling authorities.

Imperialism works this way, humani...

Worst of the Worst

Every year a multitude of lazy regime journalists (such as this one) are ordered by their editors to tweak and recycle a banal and deferential piece on the “best” or “worst” presidents for consumption by the naïve and willfully ignorant masses. These usually appear before the 4th of July. They ritualistically consult “court historians” in the hope of providing a Ouija board luster and enticing panache to these clichéd parables regarding the deification of the occupants of 1600 Pennsylvania A...

Tricked on the 4th of July

I do not celebrate the fourth of July. This goes back to a term paper I wrote in graduate school. It was on colonial taxation in the British North American colonies in 1775. Not counting local taxation, I discovered that the total burden of British imperial taxation was about 1% of national income. It may have been as high as 2.5% in the southern colonies.

In 2008, Alvin Rabushka’s book of almost 1,000 pages appeared: Taxation in Colonial America (Princeton University Press). In a review publ...

Nuclear War Is Inevitable

As the Syrian and Russian governments accuse the United States of trying to invent reasons to launch an attack in the Middle East, an international group of former military and diplomatic leaders is warning of an “unacceptably high” risk of global nuclear war if cooler heads don’t prevail.

In an 11-page report from the Nuclear Crisis Group (NCG) — a subcommittee of Global Zero, an organization that supports the total abolition of nuclear weapons — the former officials make recommendations to...

Speeding Is a Capital Offense

Did you know that the penalty for speeding is death?

It is something to think about as we head into the Farce of July and the sickly celebration of the freedoms we lost a long time ago. Among these, the right to not be shot to death in the streets over traffic offenses.

Yes, really.

A couple of years ago, the nine Judge Dredds who quite literally are the law – by dint of decreeing what the law is, as opposed to what the Constitution actually says –  ruled (a most appropriate term) that if a s...

Want To Know the Future?

“The Internet is watching us now. If they want to. They can see what sites you visit. In the future, television will be watching us, and customizing itself to what it knows about us. The thrilling thing is, that will make us feel we’re part of the medium. The scary thing is, we’ll lose our right to privacy. An ad will appear in the air around us, talking directly to us.”—Director Steven Spielberg, Minority Report

We have arrived, way ahead of schedule, into the dystopian future dreamed up by...

The Illinois Debt Crisis

Justin’s note: Illinois is dead broke.

Every month, it spends $600 million more than it collects in taxes. The state is now $15 billion in debt. There’s no telling how much worse its financial situation will become, either.

After all, Illinois hasn’t had a budget in two years. If it can’t put one together by tomorrow, Standard & Poor’s will cut its credit rating to “junk.” It would become the first state ever with this distinction.

This would have serious implications for the 13 million peopl...

A Jeffersonian Patriot

One day in January 1811, Thomas Jefferson wrote to a French man of letters whose book he so much admired that he translated it into English and saw to its American republication. Along the way, he explained to the Frenchman why there had been such a difference between the outcomes of their countries’ revolutions. “The true barriers [defenses] of our liberty in this country,” Jefferson instructed, “are our State governments; and the wisest conservative power ever contrived by man, is that of w...

Freedom of Speech in Germany?

The most anti-democratic law perhaps ever to pass any western government just passed in the German Bundestag last week. Even the opposition Social Democratic Party (SPD) votes to suppress free speech and it is all geared to end criticism of government. This new law obligates the operators of social networks to block off anything that they themselves view “might be” criminal within 24 hours of receipt of the complaint. Other illegal content must be “deleted” or “blocked” within seven days.

The...

Serena Williams Agrees With John McEnroe

The current year is 2017, people, so why are we still segregating male and female athletes? Don’t they know that gender is a social construct and everyone’s equal?

Legendarily ill-tempered tennis champ John McEnroe outraged gender-deniers across the planet last week when he said that black female tennis champeen Serena Williams was not the world’s best tennis player. He said she’s the best female tennis player of all time, but that was not enough to appease the rabid egalitotalitarian hordes....
