Studio Musicians

“They also serve who only stand and pick.” — John Milton (almost)

The Wrecking Crew changed popular music in the 1960’s. The only member who ever made it big as a solo performer was Glen Campbell. These musicians were the music behind the Beach Boys, including “Good Vibrations.” There is a great documentary on them on Netflix.

I wrote about him here: “Play It, James.” The phrase comes from Elvis. He hired the best for his return to Las Vegas in 1969 and thereafter. He had Burton assemble the...

Fake News

There is one thing Donald Trump has right; our establishment news is unquestionably, indubitably fake. Those reasonable souls who have become understandably fed up with Trump’s WWE/Reality Show antics have to keep this in mind. Just because he’s an immature clown doesn’t mean his enemies are credible.

Most of us know BS artists, people who consistently twist and exaggerate the truth. Many of us know pathological liars, who simply are incapable of telling the truth about anything. In such case...

We’re Living in the Golden Age of Guns

Originally published by AmmoLand.com.

U.S.A. – We’re living in it. The simple fact is bad guns are few and far between. Accurate guns are available on the cheap and the cost of optics has plunged.

I credit new modern manufacturing techniques, but also a growing market for guns. That growing market means more room for innovation and profits that allow gun manufacturers to improve and expand. The recently signed tax bill will do nothing but help with expansion and innovation.

20 years ago a bud...

THIS Is Socialism

Venezuelan children are STARVING to death as food must now be delivered under armed guard

All of the various economic models employed by dictators, thugs, and autocratic rulers worldwide have produced nothing but misery, hardship, and death, yet far too many American Millennials are supportive and even fascinated by them.

They are, in no particular order, communism, Marxism, and socialism.

Communism, as practiced by the Soviet Union, was ultimately responsible for its demise.

Marxism, as pract...

Assange’s Twitter Account Mysteriously Deleted

Update 2: in another odd twist, on Monday morning, the US Navy’s official Twitter account posted just these words in quotes “Julian Assange” which it then quickly deleted. Wikileaks captured a screenshot of the tweet as shown below:

This morning, an inadvertent keystroke by an authorized user of the U.S. Navy Office of Information’s Digitial Media Engagement Team caused the trending term “Julian Assange” to be tweeted from the Navy’s official Twitter account (@USNavy). (1/2)

— U.S. Navy (@US...

Bombs Away

Nuclear testing is rare today, but at its peak it wasn’t unusual for 100 bombs to be detonated in a single year. Many of those explosions were captured on tape, and today the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is working to restore the rare footage and share it with the public. As Paleofuture reports, 62 newly declassified test films have just been released as part of the project.

The clips, once considered sensitive government material, are now available on YouTube for anyone to see. The...

Does Cryptocurrency Reflect the Disaster of the Dollar?

Ron Paul appeared on CNBC to warn viewers that cryptocurrencies had become an asset that rivals the bubble he sees in stocks…

“I think it’s going to continue to do exactly what it’s doing. It’s going higher and it’s going lower,” he said Tuesday on CNBC’s ‘Futures Now’.

The Duran recommends using WP Engine >>

“We can look at what’s happening now, which to me is a climactic end of QEs.”

CNBC reports that Pauls sees the cryptocurrency craze as a side effect of central banks doing several rounds...

Open Borders

From the comments to my post An Adult Enters the Room.  The dialogue was started by The NAPster December 20, 2017 at 9:36 AM, but I will pick up the conversation beginning with his comments at The NAPster December 23, 2017 at 5:13 AM:

…is the fact that one is unable to get what one wants fast enough (or even ever) a philosophical justification for violating the NAP?

I begin here because this point raises one of the foundational issues to the entire dialogue.  I have written far too many tim...

Give Me That Old-Time Unitarianism

[Classic: 11/28/1996] — Have you noticed? Our Lord has made the cover of The Atlantic Monthly, in an excerpt from a forthcoming book by Charlotte Allen. The article concerns the theories of contemporary theologians about the “Q” gospel, the supposed source of the Synoptic Gospels.

The book, I gather, will show how the vain quest for the “historical” Jesus keeps producing a series of stripped-down images of an ahistorical Jesus whose actual teachings conform suspiciously to the political attit...

So What? Christians

Thanks to a note from a preacher friend, I think I’ve discovered a new type of Christian: the So what? Christian.

I have written many times about Christian jihadists, Old Testament Christians, Christian armchair warriors, theological schizophrenics, Christian Coalition moralists, nuclear Christians, Janus Christians, evangelical warvangelicals, Catholic just war theorists, reich-wing Christian nationalists, theocon Values Voters, imperial Christians, pro-lifers for mass murder, Red-State Chri...
