Little House on the Orwellian Prairie

In the name of progressive politics, ‘social justice warriors’ have turned their self-righteous wrath on a celebrated early-to-mid 20th century US author whose only crime was honestly portraying the events of her turbulent age.

There are particular moments in history when no pleasure can be gained from being right. These are such times. Following last summer’s riot in Charlottesville, Virginia over the removal of a statue to Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general in the Civil War, I wrote on th...

Did You Ever Smoke a Fish?

Ready Nutrition Readers, over the years, we’ve talked at length on how fish are a great addition to your prepper food supply and taught you how to catch a fish without a hook, how to make a fishing spear, and even ways to use up every ounce of your catch. Now, we’re going to cover some fine points on the smoking of fish.

As we speak, I’m throwing some salmon steaks in to broil. Good eating! Firstly, you have some of your best protein in the form of seafood or freshwater fish. The meat is high...

The Best Hand-Crank Flashlights for Safety and Security

Hand-cranked flashlights offer light and other functions when out on the trail or during a survival situation.  This type of lighting has come a long way over the past few years and the price point is great.

A lot of the hand-cranked flashlights on this list have one or more of the following extra features.

Conservatism, Inc., Indulges Its Own

Watching a recent discussion on Fox News between Chris Stirewalt and Guy Benson concerning George Will’s exhortation to Republican voters to support Democratic candidates in the upcoming congressional election, I thought of the Calvinist doctrine of unconditional election.  According to this teaching, those whom divine Providence elevates to sainthood can never lose their ascribed status.  Once divinely elected, the sinner remains in a state of grace no matter how far he strays.  The conserva...

Putin-Trump Summit

Where there’s smoke there is fire. And there is enough smoke coming from the Trump administration about wanting a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that we should take it seriously.

Trump is obviously feeling confident he can weather any storm of criticism for such a meeting from the usual suspects from his opposition before the mid-term elections – the DNC, Congress, the Deep State, or do I repeat myself?

In fact, I would argue Trump is right to continue the peace path in the wak...

It’s a Date!

Russia and US have agreed the date and time of the much anticipated talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, Russian president’s adviser Yury Ushakov said, adding that details of the meeting will be revealed on Thursday.

The two leaders are likely to meet midday and hold one-on-one negotiations, followed by a joint press-conference, Ushakov told RIA Novosti.

The talks between Putin and Trump may last “for a few hours,” he said, adding that a working breakfast and other protocol events a...

Mother Shoots Home Invader

Police in Goochland County, Virginia report that a woman shot a man twice as he was reaching through smashed glass to unlatch her door.

The man, identified by the Goochland Sheriffs Department as Troy George Skinner, 25, was arrested and treated for a gunshot wound to the neck. Officials paint a horrifying story of a determined individual who flew halfway around the world to make contact with the woman’s teenage daughter, who he met while playing video games online.

Although investigators st...

Diversity and Inclusion Hurt Everyone

My column a fortnight ago, titled “Diversity and Inclusion Harm,” focused on the dumbing down of science, technology, engineering and mathematics curricula to achieve a more pleasing mixture of participants in terms of race and sex. Heather Mac Donald, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, wrote about this in her article titled “How Identity Politics Is Harming the Sciences” (http://tinyurl.com/y9g8k9ne). Mac Donald quoted a UCLA scientist who said, “All across the country the big quest...

Hillary Met With Furious Protests

The former Democrat contender for President was visiting Trinity College in Dublin, where she was picking up an honorary degree.

Speaking to students, Mrs Clinton, whose husband Bill was a former US President, spoke of the 1998 Good Friday agreement with mostly ended the bloodshed in Northern Ireland.

The pair were the first presidential couple to visit the country in 1995 before the Good Friday Agreement was signed, which helped to end three decades of violence in the country and the rest of...
