Proof Reading
One of my least favorite aspects of writing is proofreading. I emerge from it heartily sick of my own work and convinced that I'll never write anything good again. This time, it was the proofs for the mass PB of Seeker's Bane, 1100+ pages in three days. Ouch. And none of the problems were the sort that a spell check could catch.
Anyway, that's over and I've nearly recovered enough to start writing again. Oddly, Vant keeps trying to edge back in to the story, even though he's toast. Go fi...

Wiscon
I'm just back from Wiscon and am slowly catching my breath. It's always an eventful con with many thoughtful panels and a great deal of frenzied networking. The panels that I was on went well enough, although I found I didn't have much to say, or at least couldn't find the niche to say it in. I don't have a very ready tongue after a long stint of semi-hermitude and tend to stammer like an idiot until I get up to speed. Only one copy of the GS Chronicles (HC) was in the dealers room, makin...

Back in Print
The word from Baen is that the new printing of Bound in Blood is in their warehouse, ready to ship. I don't know where that leaves people who were told (rightly at the time) that it wasn't available.

Now I'm curious. Did anyone see Bound in Blood on the shelves, and if so, where?

Baen has announced that Bound in Blood is officially sold out and is going to be reprinted. Hurrah! Not bad for only two months on the shelves, if that. I think I may have surprised my publisher.
Meanwhile, I've signed up for Wiscon at the end of May and NASFIC in August. Is anyone else going?

Kencyr Temples and a brief snippet
My thanks for all the help. It drives me batty when I can't remember something. Speaking of the South,
"Most Kencyr know Southron ways."
"Well, I don't," said Jame. "What's in the Southern Wastes except sand, dead cities, and an occasional, inconvenient salt sea?"
"That's the mystery," Dar said, shamelessly eavesdropping with Mint at his elbow. "Seekers go into the desert, leading caravans, and come back with treasures. Sometimes Kencyr are hired as guards against clashes with Nekriens, Was...

Kencyr Temples
My mind has gone blank. What temple did the Builders leave unfinished? Have I said where else besides Tai-tastigon and Karkinaroth temples are located?
A very blank time in general. I'm working on a scene where Kindrie, recaptured by the Priests' College, is practicing the Great Dance and sensing at least some of the different temples that feed into Wilden. I know I never spelled out where all of them were, wanting some freedom to play, but I also know that I've said something. Help!

Equines and a snippet
I see that I haven't posted in awhile. I'd like to say that I've been busy, but I seem to spend most of my time staring at blank pieces of paper. It's frustrating to have some ideas, but not enough of them. Yet. Still, it isn't as if I didn't go through this almost every chapter. My favorite quote from Hawthorn: "Easy reading is damned hard writing."

I seem to have become a multi-generational writer. Cool! In this age of short shelf-life for fiction, I'm really grateful for that. One of the best fan letters I ever got was from a family who had been in the habit of reading my books out-loud to their children and wanted the next one before said children went off to college, Maybe that should make me feel old, but it doesn't. We are only as old as our heroes/heroines.

New Readers
Mostly, I hear from readers who have been with me since the beginning (oh lord, thirty years ago). And bless them. Am I picking up any new readers, though?
