eBay etc
There seems to be some confusion about the 1st Ed. HC signed God Stalk that I'm offering as a trial balloon on eBay. It's indeed the 1982 HC Atheneum edition. If you check ABE or any other antiquarian site, most of what they offer are book club editions. These are a lot cheaper. The last time I saw a 1st edition priced, (and this was awhile ago) it went for $90. This copy has a minimum bid of $50 and so far only one bidder. Of course, I have to pay 40% of that to the marketers. Ideally...

eBay
Just to let everyone know: I'm experimenting offering first editions (God Stalk, this time) on eBay. Here's the link, also to one of my father's paintings:

Okay, that's weird. I show up on at least two websites of "famous people quotes" as saying "That which can be destroyed by the truth, should be." I recognize the idea, of course, but not put exactly that way, or quite so black and white. Did I say that?
Honor's Paradox has gone out to its final readers before Toni at Baen. It comes in at about 91,500 words, which is shorter than the contract requires, but damned if I can see what else needs to be added (yes, I did go over your suggestion...

Dedication
Happy Labor Day to all.
This is the Dedication rough draft. Have I got everyone's names right? Of course, I haven't shown this to my editor yet. There may be house rules I don't know about that might limit what I can use, even with permission, or she may have her own opinions. To my mind, the quotes work well and I hope that I'll be able to use them.

I would like to thank all the fine folk who have responded to my LiveJournal entries (http://tagmeth.livejournal.com) with everythin...

Slowly, I near the end of this novel. It's occurred to me that I might dedicate this one to the LiveJournal crew and its help over the past years, also to the people who so kindly have let me use their poetry. The names I have so far are Paulfromcairns, Tiel, fergusmacfurkin, and kyrademon. Do you want me to use those names or your real ones?
(And I'll hope that this time I can get a dedication in: I tried repeated with TRaR and failed)

Countess
All right. That was disturbing. I had Countess in the box stall, saddled, in cross-ties, and she started to fall down. I don't mean the deliberate way a horse normally folds up in order to lie down or roll. Her legs just went out from under her, the hind first. Then the cross ties caught her and she seemed to jerk awake. After that, she looked sleepy until we got out into the arena, at which point she perked up and set off like the former racer she is.

Songs etc
My thanks to everyone who suggested songs for Ashe to sing. The following is the first bit of the first chapter. If I've used your work and you'd rather I didn't, please let me know and I'll take it out. I wish I could have used more. Good stuff!

Songs and NASFIC
Well, I'm back from NASFIC which I was lucky to get to at all given that my car died the night before a 70 mile drive to the airport (it turned out to be the exhaust system, easy to fix but expensive). A friend kindly drove me in and I rented a car to get back. Don't you hate it when things happen at the last minute?
The con itself was smaller and more regional than we expected, but I did get a chance to meet with my editor/publisher several times, which was a very good thing.

NASFIC et al.
Okay. In two days I'm off to NASFIC in Raleigh NC. For the first time in years, I won't be on any panels, giving any readings, or attending any kaffeeklatches, at least as far as I know. Maybe I'll get there and find they've signed me up for all sorts of things. Actually, after the poor show I put on at Wiscon, I won't mind sitting this one out. That isn't to say that I might not be induced to give a free style reading if enough fans approach me. That aside, Melinda and I are always up ...

A Damson Snippet
This is what I've done with Damson so far. I'm not sure where to go from here, though. Ideas?
Damson stood near the edge of a fire pit. Jame came up beside her.
"This is where Vant fell?"
"Yes, lady."
"And that was your doing. How?"
"I can make small changes in people's heads. Make them dizzy. Make them stumble. Make them feel what it's like to be fat and clumsy."
"Now I remember. When Timmon, Gorbel and I were standing at attention in the snow, something made me fall over."
Damson shuffled,...
