Brian Denehey Dies
I just learned that Brian Denehey died. Brian played Ken Rex McElroy in the movie version of In Broad Daylight. He was a great actor. When he put black contact lens in and crooked a shotgun in his arm, others on the movie set stayed away from him. My favorite memory of the shoot is when Brian and Cloris Leachman and I went drinking in Austin one night. A memorable time was had by all. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with him.

The Death of Ken Rex McElroy–35 year Anniversary
Several readers have reminded me that tomorrow, July 9, will be the 35th anniversary of the killing of Ken McElroy on the streets of Skidmore, Missouri. “In Broad Daylight,” the story of the killing, was my first book. Although I’ve since moved on to fiction, in “The Joy of Killing,” I think my first book will always mark me as a writer. The story has an almost mythical quality to it, and I’m convinced it will never fade.

Joy of Killing — Paperback
The “Joy of Killing” is now out in paperback, on Amazon for $15.00. We’ve got a new cover, which I like a lot: the spooky birds are still flying, but now over a small body of water. My favorite blurbs are from author Gregg Olsen, who ccmpared the book to “American Psycho” and Denver Post reviewer Sandra Dallas who called it “a major literary achievement.”
