This took a bit of getting into, but as soon as I got halfway, I was sucked in. Vampires, family feuds and found family troupes alongside action and romance is every reason I picked up the first instalment and I wasn't disappointed with this one.

Somehow it hit even harder the second time… like deeper, more personal, a little uncomfortable even. This book doesn’t feel like fantasy, it feels like being stuck inside someone’s head while they’re trying to survive it. Nesta’s journey is messy," Read more of this review »

I enjoyed the premise of the book - a death happening whilst filming in Champton where everyone's basically an extra.

There was mystery, family and friend conflict and friendships that are expected with a Reverend Richard Coles novel. I really liked

“Murderers aren’t your type – I’ll bear that in mind. Saying that, I have to tell you that you’re scared of blood, when you’re practically named after the colour of it. Bit hypocritical of you.”

Jokily speaking, some weight seems to drop from my shoulders at his words. Not fully, but some – a start. Another new start. My whole life is new start after new start. Hopefully this one will actually be my last. I don’t know how much more leapfrogging I can take and I don’t want to find out.

“Me hypocritical, what about you? Your name is what your kind look like on their deathbeds.” As soon as the words have left my mouth, I hate what I’ve said. Even if I’m not being serious, it’s insensitive of me. Thankfully, Ash doesn’t seem to take offence. Instead, he’s rather defiant.

“Actually, I’m named after the colour of my eyes.”
Amy Stocker, Captivated

“I wish our story could have had another ending.”
Stephanie Garber, The Ballad of Never After

“In the morning, you can forget it. You can go back to pretending you don't like me, and I can pretend that I don't care. But for tonight, let me pretend you're mine.”
Stephanie Garber, The Ballad of Never After

Amy Stocker I was in The Works today buying Wildfire - what a beautiful cover with gradient coloured pages (and I got a free bookmark!) - and the two girls in front of me were also purchasing Wildfire. We spent the next 20 minutes talking about books and exchanged contacts. Books truly are amazing in bringing people together!!
