August 20, 2015: Operation Supply Drop: Mission Accomplished!

A while back, we coordinated with an organization called Operation Supply Drop. Their mission is a good one: get games out to troops so that they have fun things to do in their down time. Well, they just accomplished their mission and delivered a bunch of our games to HSM-72, a squadron in Nevada that's out there for 33 days of training. Here are some pictures!

August 17, 2015: Munchkin Guest Artist Edition, Illustrated By Ian McGinty

Dancing Sword Shrieking Geek Last week, we announced the Guest Artist Edition series of Munchkin games scheduled for release throughout 2016. Today, we want to give you an early peek at some of Ian McGinty's sketches from the first set: Munchkin Guest Artist Edition .

On the left is Ian's take on the classic Singing and Dancing Sword. I admit that it never occurred to me that one could have a hair metal weapon, but now that I think about it, that makes perfect sense. Ian's sketch of the Shrieking Geek card is on the right. Yup, that's what it is, all right! The orthodontics are a touch of particular genius. Both of these pieces show the fun we've grown to expect from Ian's art in the Munchkin comic book from BOOM! Studios, and we couldn't be happier to have his work kicking off the Guest Artist Editions in January.

Keep watching the Daily Illuminator throughout the next several months for updates, leaks, and other cool information about the Guest Artist Editions !

August 16, 2015: Our Classiest GURPS Supplement Ever?

GURPS Social Engineering: Back to School

All sorts of stories place a focus on learning: boot camp, training montages, university tales, schools for super-powered tyros, and more. At last, this rich vein of roleplaying possibility is no longer a footnote, thanks to GURPS Social Engineering: Back to School . Written by William H. Stoddard – author of the award-winning GURPS Social Engineering – this supplement looks at all aspects of the learning and teaching process in GURPS .

Back to School includes expanded rules for learning, such as character options for "converting" points between skills and attributes, treating learning like a job, and learning through intensive training. It gives game mechanics for teaching: how equipment helps, what good teachers can accomplish (or bad teachers can hamper), and more. It's also a guide to running a learning-based campaign. It provides advice and insight into running games from the viewpoint of students, instructors, or even administrators trying to keep everything functioning smoothly.

Your heroes are always trying to get better, smarter, more capable. Now those stories don't have to happen off-screen. Download Back to School today from Warehouse 23 and you'll have more class than ever!

August 15, 2015: Munchkin Zombies: The Walking Dead Available Now!

Munchkin Zombies: Walking Dead If you visit your FLGS today then you will find the latest Munchkin release from our partners at USAopoly. A new expansion for Munchkin Zombies that brings the most popular zombie survival comic book to your game table, Munchkin Zombies: The Walking Dead was one of those surprises we shared with the world earlier this year. We have been a bit silent about this since the announcement – as Andrew and Steve worked in the background to help the USAopoly team move the expansion from idea to completion – but we can happily report that the effort both companies put into this has resulted in a great new Munchkin Zombies tuckbox expansion.

If your FLGS doesn't have Munchkin Zombies: The Walking Dead in stock then make sure to ask for it today. If that fails, then you can find it right now at Warehouse 23. Also, check out USAopoly's announcement for more information!

Thank you to Andrew, Steve, and the entire USAopoly team for making this happen. Now get back to work on next year's surprises!!!

Pulver; an in-depth examination of human hybrids (complete with GURPS ideas and samples templates); and a guide to roleplaying selling your soul for power and profit . . . including what loopholes you might utilize to get it back. Plus, discover three items that allow communication with the those beyond the grave – each with their own drawbacks – and an unnatural means of bringing someone back from the dead.

August 13, 2015: Munchkin Steampunk Deluxe Auction: Helping Superhero Kids!

Superhero Kids logo Super Box drawing Many of you know that the Munchkin Steampunk Deluxe launch party is today. But did you know that the eBay auction we are running benefits an amazing children's charity, Superhero Kids ? We have partnered with Austin-based Superhero Kids, who works with the Children's Blood and Cancer Center of Central Texas, at Dell's Children's Hospital.

Drawing This wonderful cause really spoke to us, so we coordinated with them for this event. Please visit our eBay auction page to see all the signed game listings that benefit the children. All proceeds from those listings marked as Superhero Kids will go in entirety towards the charity. We also have a very special copy of Super Munchkin , signed by one of the Superhero Kids, Parker. This auction continues through tomorrow, so bid now!

Help us help a wonderful cause!

About Superhero Kids

Superhero Kids was founded in December 2009 to specifically address quality of life issues for children and their families battling cancer and blood disorders at the Children's Blood and Cancer Center of Central Texas. Typically when a child is diagnosed with cancer or a blood disorder and begins a treatment program at the CBCC, one parent must stop working outside the home, and devote full time attention to managing and coordinating treatments, education and basic needs of the child in treatment at the CBCC, as well as maintaining the family. The usual duration of treatment can last from 1-3 years and much longer in some instances. The financial burden on a family is overwhelming, not to mention the emotional impact on the child in treatment, siblings and the entire family.
