March 29, 2016: GURPS Characters And Campaigns Reprints Shipping Now

The newest printings of both volumes of the GURPS Basic Set have arrived from the printer and are now shipping to distributors. These have both been out of stock at our primary warehouse for a little while now; bringing these two books back into print keeps the entryway into the GURPS system on store shelves, easily accessible to anyone looking to explore the game.

March 27, 2016: Crowdfunding Focus: Pack O Game 2

People are always looking for the biggest games, with all sorts of bells and whistles. But what if some of the best games are hiding in gum-sized packages? That's the idea behind Chris Handy's Pack O Game Set 2 on Kickstarter, a follow-up to the hugely successful Pack O Game campaign from 2014. The idea behind these games are big game play in a tiny package. The containers are the size of a standard pack of gum (get it – Pack O Game?), and each game provides a unique play experience. From a press-your-luck game like Rum , to the deduction game Spy , there's a genre here to appeal to any gamer. I'm a huge fan of the stylized art, capturing each game's specific themes.

If you missed out on the first Kickstarter, those games are also available, complete with storage bags. Plus, each stretch goal has unlocked a new pack, so you can get 17 games for the price of one big box game otherwise. That's enough pocket-sized entertainment to last a lifetime, or at least 17 days, give or take.

March 26, 2016: Austin's Newest Toy Store Will Destroy Me

I've written two books about transforming robot toys ( Transforming Collections , Transforming Expectations ), and one of my greatest weaknesses is awesome robot toys that are fun to transform, study, and photograph. I've rarely encountered these toys in stores, so up until last week, 99% of my purchases have happened through online retailers (just about the only place to buy these toys in the U.S.). This is a good thing, since some of the designs can get pricey. The quality and engineering tend to be fabulous; buying them only online has protected me from the temptation of pure robot goodness.

Now my greatest defense is gone, since Toy Dojo opened in Austin. The store opened its doors last month, but I didn't get a chance to visit them until last weekend. My short review of the store?

I'm doomed.

Seriously, this is exactly the wrong store to have anywhere within a day trip of my home. For it to be a short 30 minutes from the office means my bank account is certain to be totally destroyed within the next day or two. This store is fantastic! I posted a few pics at my site, but I suggest avoiding that if you're as weak as I am. I'm ready to go to the store again today, even if that means I am forced to buy a robot or two.

If you're in Austin, you've gotta visit Toy Dojo. Really. It's that incredible.

March 24, 2016: Meet Guest Artists At ECCC

Emerald City Comicon is rapidly approaching, so we should reveal our two Guest Artist appearances: Ian McGinty and Katie Cook! Ian's Munchkin Guest Artist Edition has been a huge success, and he's illustrated upcoming projects like Munchkin Knights and Munchkin Playmat – Spyke Gets Suckered . We've worked with Katie on multiple expansions, including Munchkin Kittens and the soon to be released Munchkin Puppies , and of course the highly anticipated Munchkin Cthulhu Guest Artist Edition coming out later this year.

March 21, 2016: Get More Time With The Munchkin Guest Artists!

We are adjusting the release schedule for the Munchkin Guest Artists Editions to give them each more time at your friendly local game store. Spacing out the release of the Munchkin Guest Artist Edition games, we hope, will allow you time to grab these special editions and avoid the inevitable (and inflated) aftermarket prices. We are moving the following release dates:

Munchkin Guest Artist Edition - February 2017
After the first Munchkin Guest Artist Edition game sold out of our main warehouse in three days this January, and considering the strong sales of the Star Munchkin Guest Artist Edition in February, we decided to make a change.
