January 22, 2017: Munchkin In BrickJournal

If you follow the Daily Illuminator, you might have caught on that we here at SJ Games love LEGO bricks. Steve leads the charge, and our Events Director, Guy Himber, is the proprietor of CrazyBricks, makers of Munchkin Bricks, among other things . . . other things like the brick-built Munchkin board, which we've featured here and at conventions in the past.



Now, Guy's board has been featured in BrickJournal , a publication aimed at LEGO fans of all ages. Issue 43 focuses on building games in bricks, including video games like Bioshock Infinite , Overwatch , and The Legend of Zelda . Guy even let me write a short intro to Munchkin ! Get the scoop on the layout of the board, how it's evolved over time, and some secrets he has planned for the future.

January 20, 2017: GURPS And Amazon Createspace Update

Late last year, we released three out-of-print GURPS books as print-on-demand titles using Amazon's Createspace service. These three books served as canaries in the virtual coal mine, flying ahead to test whether demand for out-of-print books would be high enough to make preparing more books a worthy distraction from other tasks. We've now reviewed the initial sales of the three books –  GURPS Magic , GURPS Thaumatology , and GURPS Ultra-Tech  – and determined that the test requires more time and more titles.



So the team is at work prepping another three books for release as POD softcovers. If all goes well, the next wave of books will be available in February. We'll then watch sales of these six titles, reviewing the numbers again in April so we can decide whether to invest more staff time posting out-of-print books to the Createspace service.

January 19, 2017: Celebrating The Finale Of Munchkin Comics

Here at Steve Jackson Games, we are both excited and sad to be coming to the end of our first series of monthly Munchkin comics. BOOM! Studios, our amazing publishers, has packed the final issue with extra pages, two stories by Munchkin Czar Andrew Hackard, and even two epic covers from favorite Munchkin artists: one by Ian McGinty and a variant by Derek Fridolfs. Munchkin #25 will be a worthy send-off to a great, funny series.



If you want to keep your comics in mint condition and still enjoy the exploitative exploits of Munchkin, watch out later this month for Munchkin Volume 4, and later this year for Munchkin Volume 5 and 6. We know you completists will want all the loot. 



When will Spyke, Flower, and the rest of the greedy, socially maladjusted gang be back? Warehouse 23 News: Yesterday's Back . . . So Drive Like There's No Tomorrow!



It's a blast from the past – literally! GURPS Autoduel (First Edition) is now available digitally. The world of Car Wars comes to GURPS in this Origins Award-nominated supplement from 1986. It's one of the earliest GURPS supplements, beautifully scanned with searchable text . . . and it can be yours to download today, only from Warehouse 23!

January 15, 2017: SJ Games Content Roundup!

SJ Games has been in the limelight a bit recently, so I thought I'd collect a few of our favorite mentions all in one place – overviews, reviews, and some surprises that even we didn't expect. 



To start, Sam Healey from The Dice Tower named Bill & Ted's Excellent Boardgame one of his Biggest Surprises of 2016. Sam wasn't sure he'd like it, but being a fan of the movie, he gave it a chance . . . now it's taken up residence in his collection. Excellent!



Bower's Game Corner has praised a number of our games, and most recently took a look at the recently released Ogre Sixth Edition . He recommends it, and is keeping it for himself to play with upcoming expansions (like Ogre Reinforcements ) and to use as a starter wargame for his son. Kids make great generals – ask anyone!



For a totally different kind of content, check out @buildworks101 on Instagram, making geeky accessories out of poster board, of all things. So far he's created some iconic  Munchkin  weapons, like the Dagger of Treachery and Funny-Looking Sword . I'm looking forward to seeing what else he creates!

January 14, 2017: Top Ten In Warehouse 23 For December

December was a big month for Warehouse 23, as you would expect from the holiday rush. This year, we brought back the Grab Box bundles just for the holiday season, and they sold like crazy. (We can hope that means we can bring them back next holiday season!) Lots of Holiday Vault items were also top sellers; some even sold out before they made the long trek back to the North Pole. 



But don't forget the new releases! Munchkin Pathfinder: Truly Gobnoxious and Ogre Sixth Edition cracked the list, even though Ogre was only out for the last week of the month! Give Warehouse 23 a visit to snag some of this loot today!
