March 3, 2017: Munchkin Shakespeare Kickstarter: Final Week!

We're approaching the last act of Munchkin Shakespeare , and we've got a lot of cool stuff to reveal before we take our final bow next Friday, March 10. 



The $200,000 mark has been broken, unlocking a Munchkin Shakespeare Coloring Book for the Kickstarter Exclusive Expansion. This journal-sized coloring book will go nicely alongside The Munchkin Alphabet and 12 Days of Munchkin Coloring Book . We also revealed what many fans have been clamoring for: a stretch goal to turn Munchkin Shakespeare into Munchkin Shakespeare DELUXE ! If we can reach $275,000, every backer's game will be upgraded with a board and standies.

We're at Emerald City Comic Con this weekend! Stop by booth 909 in the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, say "hi" to Andreas, Guy, and our Seattle MIB Demo team, play our latest games, and take some home with you!

Warehouse 23 News: Since You Can't Visit Those Inhabitable Planets Scientists Found . . .



Why not pretend you're a munchkin, in space? In Star Munchkin , the first differently themed Munchkin game we made, you become a space adventurer, fighting aliens and other sci-fi baddies and grabbing futuristic space loot. It also comes in Deluxe and Guest Artist Edition versions.

March 1, 2017: Munchkin Shakespeare: A Peek At The Gameboard

We've heard two comments over and over during our Munchkin Shakespeare  campaign:



"You should add a board."


"Have you thought about making it a Deluxe set?"
We've had to simultaneously fight our instincts to yell "OF COURSE WE THOUGHT OF THAT" and then show you our mockup, because then we wouldn't have a cool surprise for later in the project. Lucky for you, "later in the project" is right now – it's time for the fourth act! On the right is the conceptual design for the  Munchkin Shakespeare Deluxe board! (Note: This is not final art.)



Featuring Spykespeare, a selection of baddies, and a classic manuscript look, this board will be included in each game if we make it to the $275,000 stretch goal and transform Munchkin Shakespeare into Munchkin Shakespeare Deluxe . We really hope we get there, because making the game a Deluxe edition increases the value of every pledge level. Backers at the $20 "Play-Goer" level would be getting a Deluxe size set that, at retail, will sell for closer to $30, similar to our other Deluxe-style  Munchkin games. And when you add a second set, you double your savings! Plus, the "I Want It All!" pledge tier continues to get better as more and more add-ons are unlocked!

Warehouse 23 News: Hate A Zombie Today



Playing I Hate Zombies feels the way we imagine real hand-to-hand zombie combat would feel – fast-paced, quick, and a little bit based on luck. (There is less blood, though. Or there's supposed to be less blood.) 



Players are divided into two teams: humans and zombies. Everyone plays quick games of rock-paper-scissors. Winning zombies take a bite out of the humans they beat. Winning humans injure the zombies. The game ends when either everyone is a zombie or all the zombies are dead.

February 27, 2017: Moop's Monster Mashup Gets Modified For Its Second Printing!

It's no secret that we're fans of artist Ian McGinty. He's not only the illustrator for our first  Munchkin Guest Artist Edition , he also drew the Munchkin Knights booster, tons of stuff for Munchkin comics, and  Moop's Monster Mashup,  one of our most popular new Munchkin games. Filled to the brim with some of the craziest, punniest jokes we've ever made, Moop's Monster Mashup is a great stand-alone game that's also fun to mix with others (check out this post about mixing it with Munchkin Oz )! 



We didn't think it could get much better, but we decided to take a page out of Moop's book and modify his game for the second printing! Now you get the same hilarious jokes and amazing art, with a new level-tracking board and standies. Ian's art adorns these new accessories and gives you a brand new centerpiece to the collection. Then, if you're looking for some fun sets to add it to, you should check out our article about mixing Munchkin sets for inspiration. I would personally suggest checking out Munchkin Shakespeare on Kickstarter! Both games were created to stand alone, but also to combine with pretty much any Munchkin  game perfectly.

Warehouse 23 News: This Tiny Munchkin Booster Has A Big Impact . . .



Because it's pure dragons. 



Munchkin Dragons: Four More is four cards in size . . . two dollars in cost . . . and all dragon. These weird wyrms swoop into any game to add an element of fire, fury, and winged destruction. (Or maybe winged silliness.)

February 26, 2017: Al Had A Hoot At OwlCon 2017

What a weekend! I'm back home, safe and (mostly) sound, after an amazing weekend at OwlCon! 



Events started Friday evening, and we were ready! We kicked the convention off with some autodueling fun in Car Wars: The Card Game . There was a great turnout for Revolution!  (with the Anarchy expansion), and plenty of feline mayhem was made with Simon's Cat Card Game . Sanity-blasting fun came from The Stars Are Right , and Gotham City's greatest supervillains made off with lots of loot in Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game . Of course, we also played LOTS of Munchkin that night as well!

Saturday at OwlCon was even better! Munchkin was suitably represented, and we had a lot of fun with our original set mixed with Munchkin Oz. Players were able to study for their oral history exams using our most-excellent, giant-sized copy of Bill & Ted's Excellent Boardgame, while others had spooky fun haunting kids and taking their candy in Ghosts Love Candy. Ogre swept into OwlCon with Ogre Sixth Edition and Ogre: Objective 218. Command Posts were destroyed and Ogres were pummeled - smiles all around! Sunday was not as busy, but still a ton of fun playing many games, including Munchkin Steampunk!

It's been a few years since I've been to OwlCon, and it was even better than I remembered! Thanks to everyone who came by the Miner room, as well as the wonderful OwlCon staff. Houston MIB Demo Team members Chris, Don, Jessica, John, Marybeth, Maurice, Neal, and Sarah did a great job running events. Ettin Games carried plenty of SJ Games releases in the dealers' room. We wouldn't have had nearly as much fun without all their generous support.

Meanwhile, fans of Simon's Cat can enjoy feline hijinks with the Simon's Cat Card Game . Match the color or number on the cards to avoid taking the trick. Take the most tricks, and you get blamed for all the messes! Attendees with a sweet tooth will be able to get a sneak peek of  Ghosts Love Candy , plus pick up an early copy (it won't be out until June).

February 24, 2017: Munchkin Shakespeare Will Be In Stores This September

Our production of Munchkin Shakespeare is moving right along over on Kickstarter, and we wanted to answer a common question we receive: Will this be available at my friendly local game store?

The short answer is a resounding "YES"! Munchkin Shakespeare will be available through distribution, for retailers to order as usual, once it releases later this year. Backers will get their copies first, but soon after, you should start seeing the base game show up in stores. The Kickstarter Exclusive Expansion is, of course, exclusive to Kickstarter. However, that leads us to another question. 



What about stores that want to get the Kickstarter Exclusive Expansion and fun add-ons? We don't want to leave retailers out of the action, so they can support through our special retailer offer. We'll be reaching out to stores with details via our Retailer Newsletter toward the end of the campaign, with a special price for brick-and-mortar game stores. Make sure your local retailer is on our Store Finder site so that they get our Retailer Newsletter. If they aren't already there, stores can submit their information on our Store Finder, and we'll get them signed up.

February 23, 2017: Munchkin Musings: February 2017

Good morning to my loyal Munchkin fans,
'Tis once again the time to update you
Upon the status of our favorite game.



In case you missed the news, we're running a Kickstarter for Munchkin Shakespeare this month. We'll be posting lots of updates both here and on our social media, so hit that refresh key frequently! (Of course, we'll also post updates on the Kickstarter itself . . . backers will know everything as soon as we announce it.)



This month, the new printing of Moop's Monster Mashup  (in the Deluxe-style packaging) and Munchkin Apocalypse: Judge Dredd will make their way to store shelves. If your store doesn't already know you want these games, be sure to tell them so they can plan to have plenty on hand!



Speaking of plenty of games, when we looked at our end-of-year numbers, we realized that we needed to schedule some reprints. Expect a whole bunch of reprints in June and then several more through the second half of the year. We don't want anyone to go to bed deprived of Munchkin !



Alain Dawson has been working hard with USAopoly on a couple of their 2017 releases, and I think y'all will be super stoked to find out what they are! . . . but we aren't quiiiiiiite ready to make that announcement. Keep refreshing!



The Munchkin Collectible Card Game is making good progress under Devin Lewis' stewardship. We spent a week bashing on the rules to make sure they said exactly what we wanted them to say. Sam and Sabrina have been plugging away at the packaging for the POP displays and the individual sets and boosters, and I love what they've come up with. Best of all, Eric Lang and Kevin Wilson already submitted their draft of the cards for the first expansion wave, and we're poring over those before setting up the next round of Austin-based playtests. We are so excited about getting more information to y'all about this great new game, just as soon as we're confident in our release date!
