I am adding an extra piece to critique this week. Enjoy.

Don’t forget the critiquing guidelines. All I ask is that you post a comment about the submission below. Don’t feel like you have to critique the whole piece. Even a short comment on one aspect can be helpful.

Developing Realistic Characters Part 2 – Guest Post by Pamela Collazos

Developing Realistic Characters Part 1 – Guest Post by Pamela Collazos

[image error]Characters can be tricky to develop. Unless inspiration suddenly hits you like a truck, you probably find it difficult to create characters out of thin air. So don’t try! Choose something more concrete to work with. The thoughts in your head, the people you’ve met, and the characters you love can all inspire you to create interesting, new people. They’re all great ways to go, but there’s another powerful method I haven’t mentioned yet: psychology. That’s right, we’re getting into the squishy...

The Critique Group feature of this blog will resume in early January of 2019. In order to keep the group going, I need participation. If people comment on submitted excerpts, I will be glad to continue posting them. Let’s hope for a great renewal of this helpful (I hope) feature.

If you want to submit a manuscript for critique, please read the guidelines as well as this list of common mistakes to avoid before submitting.

In recent years I have noticed an increase in the use of fragments in written storytelling. It has become popular as a narrative device because, or so the authors believe, it quickens the pace of the story and provides more of a stream-of-consciousness feel.

I think not, and I will e...

Critique Group Suspended

I was the only person who commented on the most recent critique group post. That must mean that the group has lost interest. I am suspending this feature for the time being.

Maybe he can’t not file for the right to fervently appeal where he’s at?
