Eye of the Oracle – A New Beginning
[image error]Published in 2006, Eye of the Oracle is a prequel to the Dragons in our Midst series, which prompts some to choose to read it first, that is, before Dragons in our Midst. If you do so, you will understand the story, but it will also give you spoilers for the Dragons in our Midst stories. I recommend that you read the four Dragons in our Midst books before this one.
This book surged to #1 in the young adult category for the Christian Booksellers Association. I am thankful for the reception it...

Tears of a Dragon – A New Beginning
[image error]Tears of a Dragon arrived during the second half of 2005. While I was writing the story, the back story kept growing in my mind. Soon, it became bigger and more interesting than the main story. I knew I would have to write a prequel to explore how the dragons saga began.
When the story began drawing to a close, one of the characters referred to “Oracles of Fire.” At the time, I didn’t know what that phrase meant, but I guessed that it had something to do with the back story. The book was publ...

Circles of Seven – Contentment
[image error]When I began writing Circles of Seven, I didn’t know where the story would go, only that most of the adventures would take place in England. To conduct research, I traveled to England and visited several King Arthur sites, including the Glastonbury Tor. Before leaving, I picked up a book about Avalon, and when I went to the Tor’s gift shop, I saw the sequel for the book. I picked it up and mentioned to the cashier that the first book raised a lot of interesting questions.
“Is that so?” she as...

The Candlestone – The Story Continues
[image error]My contract with AMG Publishers for Dragons in our Midst included four books, and I provided the titles for use in the contract, though I didn’t know what all the stories would be about. A candlestone was heavily involved in the first story, and I had started writing the story by the time I signed the contract, so I knew The Candlestone would be an appropriate title, but Circles of Seven and Tears of a Dragon just popped into my head, so I used them for contractual purposes, knowing that I co...

Raising Dragons Anniversary – 15 Years of Dragons in our Midst
[image error]In June of 2004, AMG Publishers produced Raising Dragons, the first book in the Dragons in our Midst series. At the time, faith-based fantasy in the Christian market was rare, perhaps even non-existent. We all know about the Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings, but these were published by secular publishers, not Christian ones. Raising Dragons was a groundbreaking trailblazer.
Now, 15 years later, Christian-based fantasy has many more selections, and Raising Dragons has been included i...

Are Dragons Evil?
And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (Revelation 12:9)
Without a doubt, the Bible uses a dragon to describe Satan in the book of Revelation. Since that prophetic book often uses symbolic language, it’s not clear if this dragon is merely a symbol or if Satan really exists in dragon form. In either case, some Christians have become conv...
