Happy Thanksgiving from the “Land Down Under”
I am so thankful that, despite the incredible opposition from within and without the church to the proclamation of the creation/gospel message, the Lord greatly encourages us daily in the ministry of Answers in Genesis. As I reflect on the many blessings that God has given AiG, perhaps the thing that touches me most is the positive feedback we continually receive from around the world—as people tell us how God has used AiG and the Creation Museum to affect their lives and ministries.
While we attempt to grow our creation/gospel outreach abroad (see my recent blog post), it always encourages me to know that there are Christians around the world who are using apologetics to defend the Christian faith and present the gospel. AiG has many friends in Israel, a nation much in the news right now as it has been coping with rockets being fired into it from Gaza and the prospect of all-out war in the region.
We have some ministry friends who live about 30 miles from Gaza and are within easy range of the rockets. When we found out that the family’s young son, Ezra, was a big fan of biblical apologetics, I sent him a copy of The New Answers Book 1 and autographed it for him. I wish you could see his full happy face in this picture, but for safety reasons we have blurred the photo.
And here is a scan of the thank-you letter that he sent to us. I hope it will bless you. His parents also wrote, “Thank you so much for the gift you sent our son Ezra. He was delighted beyond words, as I hope you will be able to tell from the photo. You are generous beyond words, and we are thankful. It wasn’t necessary, but it is very much appreciated! Thanks and God bless.”
Please pray for the situation in the Middle East and for the Christians who are living and ministering there, both in Israel and Gaza.
Staff Abroad
I thank God also for the many AiG staff who go abroad during their vacation time to engage in ministry. On Tuesday during our regular staff meeting, Dan Richardson and Marty Minnard talked about their recent trip to a remote, mountainous part of India and shared several photos with the staff. Their home church in northern Kentucky (Big Bone Baptist Church, pastored by my good friend Mike Jones) is partnering with sister churches in a very primitive part of India, where people desperately need to hear the gospel and also have some basic physical needs to be met.
I praise God for the many AiG and Creation Museum staff who do not see 5 PM as their time to leave the building thinking their personal ministry efforts are over. So many of them teach Sunday school in their churches, volunteer at various local charities, and each year a few of them head abroad and work in Third World countries.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Are Your Teens “Good Without God”?
Yesterday, I wrote about the American Humanist Association’s new website and ad campaign promoting atheism to our children. Today, I want to show you what they’re telling our teens on the section of the site called Teens Without God.
In 2009, Answers in Genesis contracted with America’s Research Group to conduct research into why the church is losing so many young people from this generation. The results showed that two-thirds of young people leave the church by the time they reach college age. Why? One main reason was a lack of training in apologetics. Our young people don’t know how to respond to the skeptical questions of this age! They have been taught—through public schools, media, and museums—that the Word of God is not trustworthy.
The results of this research are available in my book (co-authored with Britt Beemer) Already Gone.
Well, the Kids Without God site offers answers to teens’ questions about topics like evolution, sex, and morality—all from an atheistic worldview. There’s even a section on how to tell their families that they don’t believe there is a God!
Of course, this anti-God group capitalizes on pop culture to try to influence teens’ minds toward atheism by listing “atheist rock songs” and presenting a list of the most popular atheist actors.

Atheist Celebs
On the “evolution” page, the authors essentially discount biblical creation as being on par with believing in a flat earth.
Almost nobody still argues that the world is flat, or that the sun revolves around the Earth, or that medical ailments can be cured with leaches or by drilling a hole in the patients skull … and yet while people have accepted that scientists are right about all of that, there remains an entirely bogus “controversy” about evolution.
There is no controversy among scientists that the theory of evolution is correct. 99.9 percent of scientists support the theory of evolution. And for good reason: the evidence for it is overwhelming.
But the “evidence” for evolution is not overwhelming. In fact, it’s the same evidence creationists have! As I’ve said many times before, and as it is clearly shown in our Creation Museum, it’s our worldview that makes the difference in interpreting scientific evidences. And the Bible is the only eyewitness account of the universe’s beginning and the only legitimate starting point of interpretation.
Furthermore, the above statistic of 99.9% clearly ignores the opinions of thousands of scientists around the world who hold the biblical creation view. A majority of scientists embrace evolution and millions of years, but it’s deceptive not to acknowledge the substantial number of scientists who see problems with evolutionary ideas.
The page on “sex and sexuality” directs teens to a couple of websites, including the pro-abortion Planned Parenthood site, for answers to their questions. And on the page about morality, teens are told that the Bible is not where we turn for answers to moral questions.
In constructing this morality humanists and other freethinkers don’t look to ancient books or supernatural revelations, but instead depend on the core principles of: the scientific method, compassion, and an egalitarianism that guides our sense of fairness. … As UU minister Kendyl Gibbons said, “If there is no personality governing the universe and promising us love, justice, and meaning on some ontological bottom line, then it is all the more necessary for us, flawed and finite as we are, to give love, to enact justice, and to build meaning here and now.”
Christian parents, are you providing answers to your teens’ questions using the authority of God’s Word as your foundation? The American Humanist Association is after our young people, and they are using every means necessary to win their hearts and minds. If our teens don’t know how to think critically about the claims made within the atheistic worldview, they won’t know how to respond—and they will likely fall prey to what the humanists are promoting.
I urge you to be preparing your children and your teens to face these claims and skeptical questions! Our Answers Book for Teens series is a great tool for doing this. There is no greater task for Christians today—as our new ministry theme declares—than to be “standing our ground and rescuing our kids” (see Galatians 1:4). In fact, we should be rescuing anyone heading to a Christ-less eternity.

Humanist Group Says Kids Are “Good Without God”
Well, in case you didn’t see my blog post announcing the new theme for Answers in Genesis over the next two years, here it is:
Standing Our Ground—Rescuing Our Kids (Galatians 1:4)
And our new ministry theme came not a moment too soon. You see, the American Humanist Association has started a new campaign to teach our children and teens that they are “good without God.” As you’ll see below, the ad images are clearly intended to communicate that God is not real.
Besides an advertising campaign, this group has started a new website called Kids Without God—targeting our children to teach them that they don’t need God. Now, the website is divided into two main parts: a section for young children and a section for teens. Today, I want to show you some of the material being promoted to young children on this website. In tomorrow’s blog, I’ll follow up with material from the teen section of the site.
Of course, I don’t encourage you to necessarily visit this site because of its message and mission to promote humanism, but the URL is kidswithoutgod.com. On the home page, the welcome declares, “Welcome to Kids Without God, a site for the millions of young people around the world who have embraced science, rejected superstition, and are dedicated to be Good Without A God!”
How sad! But what’s worse is the message presented by the character on the kids site: Darwin the Dog. Children can read a book on the site called “Meet Darwin,” where Darwin the Dog teaches them that the biblical account of history is “just stories.”
Now, the drawings and images are rather poorly done, but the purpose of the book still comes clearly through: to teach young children that they can’t trust the Word of God. Of course, after reading “Meet Darwin,” children visiting the site are taught the “7 Promises.” (By the way, since we present the Seven C’s of history at our museum and other places, I just wonder if the humanists are trying to counter our well-known Seven C’s?). The promises are things like, “Be Nice,” “Tell the Truth,” and “Help Others.” But on what basis? Without the Bible, humanists can’t promote any kind of morality, because they don’t have a foundation!
You know, we’re seeing an increasing number of atheists who are accusing Christians—like those of us at AiG—of forms of “child abuse” because we teach children the truth of God’s Word in Genesis. But when I see efforts like these from atheist/humanist groups, I think of 2 Peter 3:3, which warns that “scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts.” The passage goes on to warn of the coming judgment by fire. In this humanistic age, our hearts need to be filled with an urgency to see children, teens, and adults rescued from the coming judgment.
Dr. Georgia Purdom of our staff has written a more detailed discussion and analysis of the Kids Without God website. I encourage you to read her blog post. I also recommend our Answers Book for Kids series as a tool for answering your children’s questions about biblical creation.
Also, check back tomorrow on this blog for part two of our review of this humanist website for kids.

The Bee Is Over
Each year AiG is pleased to promote the National Bible Bee competition for young people and also to have representation at its annual meeting. See www.BibleBee.org. The Bee is set up to help parents disciple their children through an in-depth study of the Bible which includes Scripture memorization.
Roger Peterson of our staff has had his children participate in these Bees. He has also manned an exhibit on behalf of AiG and the Creation Museum and distributed AiG awards to the winning children.
Three hundred students and their families from across the country were in Sevierville, Tennessee, last week for the National Bible Bee contest. These students have been working hard since the beginning of the summer to memorize hundreds of Bible verses, and they have been studying the books of First and Second Timothy. Divided into three different age divisions, the students were judged based on their ability to recite the passages, and they were tested on their knowledge of Scripture.
The winners of the three categories received some very special awards from AiG (including a Creation Museum five-year membership), and every competitor got a coupon for a significant discount to visit the Creation Museum.
Here is what Roger sent me about the just-concluded Bee.
Our family has been in Sevierville, TN serving the families at The National Bible Bee for several days. Becky and I served as judges for the preliminary oral rounds on Thursday, and our children are serving in the family fun area. The children at the Bee recited up to 20 passages in 10 minutes and then took a written test based on their study of the books of First and Second Timothy and general Bible knowledge.
Thursday night at the opening ceremony, the top 15 in each age category were announced, and they moved on to the semifinals on Friday. The finals were Saturday, when the top 5 in each age competed for the top prizes. All of these events were webcast at www.biblebee.org/webcast.
Saturday morning, I presented the awards on your behalf to the top five primary contestants. They received the books you signed for them, and the top 3 in each category received five-year memberships to the Creation Museum, as well as prizes from other sponsors and some very substantial monetary prizes.
It was such a joy to see so many families here who are training up their children in the truths of God’s Word. I have been able to share AiG’s Answers Bihle Curriculum with lots of people, and they are all excited to take the information back to their churches. Several families are also considering using ABC as a homeschool curriculum. (Becky uses it as the Bible curriculum for our youngest child.).
Many people have told us how much they have enjoyed visiting the museum and many are planning on stopping by on their way home.
Blessings,
Roger
Registration for the 2013 Bee starts in April. See www.Biblebee.org.
By the way, a 2011 Bee winner who lives in the Pacific Northwest flew with her family to visit the museum earlier this year (2,000 miles away) to take advantage of her Creation Museum awards—see my blog post about this family’s visit.

Now, one grand prize winner (to be selected in mid-May, 2013), receives a free all-family one-year pass to the Creation Museum,* two nights at a nearby hotel,** plus over a dozen free DVDs and books. Total grand prize package value is over $500!
Expo Explored by Students
Yesterday, AiG and the Creation Museum concluded its two-day College Expo in our excellent new Legacy Hall inside the museum. Before leaving for Australia, I was able to speak to a large group of students and parents who attended this annual event. The 300 students interacted with 27 Bible colleges and universities—each school taking a stand on a literal Genesis. Dr. Georgia Purdom and Mike Riddle also spoke. It’s great to see many young people looking for a solid academic foundation for their future career paths. We plan to hold another College Expo because of the interest. Here are four photos of the College Expo:

Review of New TV Series
I direct you to our weekly web feature News to Note, which comments and analyzes the news of the day that touches on the Bible’s accuracy. The latest edition of News to Note has just been posted, and I want you to—in particular—read the review of the new TV series on the History Channel about the history of mankind, and how the series covers human origins and other topics from an evolutionary perspective. The review is yet another excellent article from AiG researcher Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell.

After the Election
As I fly out of the country today and will be gone for a few weeks, I am looking back at America through the proverbial “rear view mirror.” I see that America’s slippery slide of spiritual decline has been catastrophic. The slide was not just witnessed in the results of the US elections last week, but it has been happening over the decades as we have reaped the consequences of generations of young people (including 90% of children who grew up in church homes) being secularized by schools, media, museums, etc. Sadly, part of the push down this slide of unbiblical thinking has been due to the efforts of compromising Christian leaders and Bible colleges that reject biblical authority. God is not pleased.
For example, I think of Romans 1, where we are clearly taught that increasing homosexual behavior is a sign of God’s judgment—that God “gave them up.” Today, “gay” marriage is now law in more states. The Washington Post reported the following:
Voters in Maryland narrowly upheld the state’s same-sex marriage law, a historic victory for the national gay-rights movement that highlights the country’s evolving definition of marriage … Maryland was joined by Maine in approving gay marriage, making the two states’ voters the first in the country to approve the measures by a popular vote. In Maryland, gay couples will be able to wed starting Jan. 1
In the article, there was the following quote—and note the mention of pastors:
Griffin attributed the success to a new, carefully assembled coalition that united gay-rights advocates with officials at the NAACP, with clergy, and with businesses and philanthropists who hadn’t previously contributed to the gay-rights causes. (Washington Post)
I also recall that the president, in June, issued a “Presidential Proclamation: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, 2012” (White House).
AiG, as God allows, will stand uncompromisingly on God’s Word in the midst of immorality, and we will continue to shine a bright light in an increasingly dark world. We are doing what we can to “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).
A local pastor and friend of the ministry, Jeff Davenport, of Calvary Baptist Church, wrote the following for his church’s bulletin last Sunday morning (and then he gave a message from the pulpit to let his congregation know that they should not despair as the country continues to slide, as witnessed in the election):
God has an eternal plan … that did not change this past election!
I Peter 1:18-19 says, “knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ …”
Peter is saying, “you guys were not bought back from Satan by some cheap trinket, some temporary payment … Your eternity was secured with the most precious thing of all, the very blood of Jesus Christ!
When we start to stress over the outcome of some election, or we start to rest our hope in the outcome of some election, that should scare us! This morning we will learn that “if you fear the Right Things—You’ll never Stress about the Wrong Things.”
Can a political platform derail what God has already determined He will do? No! Does that mean God will smooth everything out now …that your business won’t be affected or even fail … that we as Christians will not face increased persecution? Not at all!
We, as a country, made a conscience decision well before Election Day to turn away from God’s Word. Similarly, when Israel begged God for a King, they did so because of what they might be getting out of the deal. God gave them a king all right … for 40 years they got just what they asked for. They experienced the consequences of their request … and so will America if we continue trusting in men and walking away from God’s Word and His standards.
As a Christian in America, you might want to brace yourself or a continued assault on Christianity and even the notion of an exclusive Christ. Many believers have chosen to remain silent about their faith during these seemingly “neutral” years; now they will be increasingly challenged to serve Christ in the hostile years.
When even mild opposition is directed by the masses toward evangelical Christianity, you will have to choose to speak truth or remain silent and/or acquiesce to the culture, which is to consent.
When that happens, you in essence start to trust in perishable things such as silver or gold, or presidents, or future elections, to secure your hope. And in so doing, you have forgotten the precious and sufficient blood of Christ. God’s plan is not derailed or delayed.
I pray your faith will be encouraged today!
Only By Grace,
Pastor Davenport
Yes, our culture is growing spiritually darker every day. But light shines more brightly in the darkness. I am greatly encouraged as I have met thousands of Christians throughout this nation who have not bowed the knee to Baal, so to speak. Remember what God spoke to Elijah about Baal.
“Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.” (1 Kings 19:18 )
So, let’s work together to shine the light of God’s truth into this nation!
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Join AiG to shine that light more brightly than ever!

Evolution Evolves
It is interesting to note how secularists continue to modify their ideas about supposed biological evolution when they find new information. One example that was published recently concerns bird speciation. Even though the evolutionists still cling to their millions of years, they are at least admitting that things can happen more rapidly than they realized.
In a recent study, a team of scientists found that bird speciation in many parts of the world has happened “rapidly and recently.” (You can read the full news report.)
Of course, when they say “recently,” they mean in the last 50 million years. From the biblical creationist viewpoint, speciation in land animals has occurred over the last 4,300 years or so—since the land animal kinds disembarked from Noah’s Ark.
You see, we know that all the variations among animal kinds that we see today have developed within the original kinds of animals that left Noah’s Ark after the Flood. (The biblical “kind” is usually thought to be at the family level of classification.) Animals do change over time—often a very short time—through a reshuffling of the various options available in their genetic material. But none of this reshuffling results in an increase of genetic information. And such shuffling doesn’t need to take millions of years at all!
Evolutionists often claim that mutations can increase genetic information. But even when mutations occur and add to the variability, they do not increase the genetic information so as to provide the raw material to produce new kinds of animals, as evolutionists claim. In no case does any mutation provide the information to become—to evolve into—a new kind of organism. Dogs in a population may vary in hair length, but they never become non-dogs!
We recently published in the Answers Research Journal Dr. Jean Lightner’s research on the living mammalian kinds that were likely present on Noah’s Ark. You can read the article online. Dr. Lightner found that there were only around 137 mammalian kinds needed on the Ark.
Now, consider the great diversity of mammal species we see in the world today—all from just 137 kinds! Dr. Lightner will continue to research the number of kinds of living and fossil mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and birds. These papers will be published in our Answers Research Journal once they are written and reviewed. I encourage you to read Dr. Lightner’s research on the living mammal kinds on the Ark as well as the other papers in the series, which will be published over the next year or so.

TrueLife Videos
Recently I joined Christian leaders like Dr. Johnny Hunt (former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and a good friend of AiG) and others to record videos for a unique Christian website, www.TrueLife.org. Through videos presented online and elsewhere, the purpose of these videos is to show web visitors—especially skeptics—that the Bible is trustworthy and authoritative. Then, these videos powerfully share the gospel of Christ and direct viewers to a list of Bible-upholding churches in their area.
Jesse Connors is the founder of TrueLife, and he traveled here to record me inside the Creation Museum. The following videos have now been released where I address questions from the minds of skeptics:
Is There a God?
Was There a Global Flood?
Here are two photos taken at the video shoot as we recorded in the “Wonders Room” of the museum.
Go to the news release on TrueLife.org to watch my intro video and find out more. While there, you can see videos presented by other ministry friends, such as Pastor Jonathan Falwell at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Virginia.

Reaching More Children
We recently released my new children’s book titled The True Account of Adam and Eve.
In this book I teach children such things as the following:
There was a literal Adam and Eve.
There was a literal Fall.
Marriage is between a man and a woman—“gay” marriage is against God’s Word, and it is an abomination.
There really was a global Flood.
There is only one race of people—we are all descendants of Adam and Eve.
All people are sinners and in need of salvation.
And much more!
I have seen a number of great reviews of this book—including the following one:
In today’s newspapers, have you ever seen headlines that questioned the reality of Adam or Eve as real people? There are many skeptics in the world who question everything and believe nothing without undeniable proof. Yet, one of the most profound proofs of God is human beings. When I became a Christ follower, I was schooled in the framework of various beliefs of how life began. Today, many search in outer space to try and locate other life forms. Many refuse to believe what is right before their eyes here on earth. People today are quick to believe in so many different viewpoints proposed by man without considering the reality of a Creator.
What do you believe about creation, the flood, sin, and other realities? How do you tell what is truth and what is not? What is the measurement or standard you use to tell truth from a lie? Here Ken Ham offers in written form the answers asked by many for many years in an intelligent manner. The premise of the book is first of all to look at the Bible, first recognizing it to be the absolute authority of our lives. We also need to understand and believe that the Lord revealed His truth and through man gave us His Word without error!
The book is more than just about Adam and Eve. There is teaching on creation including the meaning of the word “days” in Genesis chapter one and two. We are reminded of how man was created, God pronouncing “good” and ending with “very good” after creating. One of the truths brought out in this work is that we must start with the Bible and go back to it to see the truth. Much is shared in this book that is written for easy reading or a conversation with anyone. It includes scripture references to continue to help the Body defend the truth.
When I opened the book, my first thought was how beautiful the drawings were. I realize they don’t come close to the reality of Eden and more, but it gives us a glimpse of the beauty that was there long before man came on the scene. The book speaks straight forward about sin and the consequences of sin. Ken shares the hope of salvation that God gives us in Genesis 3 and throughout the entire Bible.
It could be that some might think this is a children’s book and dismiss it, but really it is a book that will captivate readers of all ages. I can see it being given as a gift to those who don’t yet know the Lord Jesus or understand or see the beauty of God. All mankind seeks to belong and to be loved. The Bible is the written roadmap of finding what all hearts yearn for. I hope and pray you will consider getting a copy as a gift for someone, for your home library or to use in teaching. Thanks goes out to the author for continuing to help equip the Body to be ready to give a reason for the hope we have in Christ.
Hundreds of Children Reached in Oklahoma
It was thrilling to once again teach hundreds of children and teens the truth of God’s Word beginning in Genesis—this time in Oklahoma.
And yes, there are now hundreds more children who, when told about millions of years, know to ask politely, “Were You There?”
Here are some photographs taken at 1st Southern Baptist Church in the Oklahoma City area yesterday.
We have reached many thousands of children and young people through the AiG conference “School Assemblies” this year. They have been equipped with answers to the skeptical questions of this age that attack God’s Word.
There is no doubt—the teaching of evolution and millions of years is a great delusion of this age to get children to believe “the lie” that the history in Genesis is not true, and therefore God’s Word is not true.
