Nifty Entertainment
Some of you may have noticed a few changes around here lately. For one, you may have gone to the sales page forVanguard #1 and been surprised to see that the publisher isn’t PulpWork Press like my work in the past, but rather Percival Constantine/Nifty Entertainment. If you’ve checked my other books, you may have seen that many of them also carry this new tag for the publisher. You may have also seen that the menu for this site now includes a link to Nifty Entertainment.
Mat Nastos, a great wr...

Vanguard #1 and Luther Cross #2 available now!
The first episode ofVanguard, my new serial chronicling the adventures of a team of superheroes, is now available exclusively on Amazon!
The world has changed. A mysterious event altered the genetic structure of humanity, granting a small percentage of the population superhuman powers. A small team of these specials has been formed to deal with potential threats. Paragon—telekinetic powerhouse; Zenith—hyper-intelligent automaton; Shift—shape-changing teenager; Wraith—teleporting shadow warrior...

Making the Choice to Unpublish
If you’ve looked at my Amazon author page or checked out the books page on this site recently, you may have noticed thatChasing The Dragon is missing from my catalogue andis no longer available for purchase digitally (CreateSpace may take some more time to remove the print versions or you might find them from resellers). The reason is because I recently made the decision to pull it from distribution.
Chasing The Dragonhas long been the black sheep of my catalogue. It’s a book a wrote a while ag...

Looking Back and Forward
So the year has come to an end.I only put out one new release in 2014, and that was the first Luther Cross story for Pro Se’s Single Shot Signatures line. But despite that, it was a pretty productive year. I completed the entire first season of Vanguard, which clocks in at just shy of 100,000 words. I also wrote the first two Luther Cross stories, so another 20,000 words there and I penned a story for one of Airship 27’s upcoming Sinbad anthologies, another 15,000 words. So in total, I wrote a...

What’s wrong with New Pulp?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. There’s a lot of reason to believe that pulp is alive and well in the mainstream. Seems like every new TV show has pulp elements in it. Superheroes, a total descendent of the mystery men from the pulps, absolutely dominate the box office.
Even with competition from far more visual mediums, pulp still manages to succeed in prose fiction as well. Self-published authors like Russell Blake and JF Penn do very well for themselves writing pulpy action/adven...

Amazon wants my help now?
Today, I received a very interesting email from Amazon:
Dear KDP Author,
Just ahead of World War II, there was a radical invention that shook the foundations of book publishing. It was the paperback book. This was a time when movie tickets cost 10 or 20 cents, and books cost $2.50. The new paperback cost 25 cents – it was ten times cheaper. Readers loved the paperback and millions of copies were sold in just the first year.
With it being so inexpensive and with so many more people able to afford...

Why I Won’t Be Joining Kindle Unlimited
Amazon’s new Kindle Unlimited has been in the news a lot lately. The deal with Kindle Unlimited is it’s basically likeNetflix or Spotify, but for books. You pay $9.99 per month and that gives you access to an unlimited number of books to read on your Kindle or any other device that has a Kindle app.
Let me get this out of the way right now: I think this is a very bad idea. I know some readers are excited aboutthe prospect of getting access to an unlimited number of books, but what’s getting lo...

I’ve decided to participate in this as well, by makingSoulQuest available for free. There are also several other New Pulp books available on the site, plus some great reads from a bunch of other indie authors. Definitely worth your time to check out what’s available. I know I’ve already downloaded a bunch of stuff.
TheDBD site has been giving me some loading problems. It’s probably li...
