Free Comic Book Day!

This Saturday, May 3rd, I’ll be signing from 10-12 pm at Double Midnight Comics in Manchester, NH. But get this: GAIL SIMONE WILL BE THERE, TOO.

Yes, you heard me. We were on a panel together this last weekend at C2E2, and now we’re headed to a signing. It must be a record. If you want to see us in action — and you’re in the area — come on out and join us at Double Midnight for Free Comic Book Day.

Barbara Vey’s Reader Appreciation Day!

I spent the day in Milwaukee at Barbara Vey‘s totally cool and hilarious Reader Appreciation Luncheon. It was a party, people — and if you’re in the upper Midwest next year and want to spend an afternoon with a fun group of romance readers and authors who are having a really good time, you should check it out. Barbara and her team work so hard each year to put this event on, and it’s not easy — but they make it look like a breeze. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Also, romance...

WonderCon

Well, WonderCon was a blast. I’d never been before, and yes, I’d heard people rave about it over the years — but I’m not con-oriented, you know? I usually do San Diego, and that’s it. But what was great at WonderCon was all the things that San Diego isn’t — small, intimate, chilled out — only with all the interesting panels, and all the cool cosplayers.

So, yes, I’d love to come again — and to all the wonderful readers I met over the weekend, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kin...

Women. Comics. Some thoughts.

So, here we go again: the problem of sexual harassment in the comic book industry. Which totally feels like deja vu.I wrote about this back in November, as did a lot of creators, but to what point? Did anyone learn from the discussion?

Apparently not. Because the shit has hit the fan again, and as always it’s the ladies who are paying the price for having the gall to say what’s on our minds. This time around it’s Janelle Asselin, who wrote a piece called “Let’s Talk About How Some Men Talk To...

Plum Blossoms

Seen during a long walk after a drive into the mountains outside Tokyo. It was a gorgeous, warm day.

Japan, again.

I’m not sure where to start when it comes to writing about Japan. I’ve been here since February 22nd, and still have a couple more weeks left before I come home. I’d stay longer if I could. I’ve mentioned this before, but travel opens the eyes — the little things we take for granted at home become new when we find ourselves in other places.

It’s raining out. I’m sitting in the immense stone lobby of a ryokan in Miyajima. We arrived yesterday evening via ferry, via train (from Hiroshima), and s...
