Punish the Democrats: Judge Melanie Cross Plays Dirty for Jim Marshall

Judge Melanie Cross is a Tift County Superior Court Judge in Georgia.

Congressman Jim Marshall, through his proxies at the Georgia Democratic Party, has demanded Judge Cross unseal Austin Scott's divorce records — Scott is Marshall's Republican opponent.

Marshall, of course, denies he has any connection. However, Amy Morton (who I actually know and like), a local Democratic activist who is involved with the Democratic Party in Georgia, filed the request.

Judge Melanie Cross set the hearing for the week before the election.

Guess what? Melanie Cross is a Jim Marshall campaign donor. She gave Marshall $1,000.00 in 2006. Her husband, Ray Cross, gave Marshall $1,000.00 earlier this year now that Judge Cross cannot give campaign donations as a judge.

After setting the hearing for the week before the election, Judge Cross recused herself and a different judge will hear the matter.

A week before the election.

The Democrats will stoop as low as they can to hang on.

Austin Scott is even or ahead in the polls — in all the polls except for the Democrats' 'leaked' internal poll. Give what you can. Punish the Democrats for their dirty tricks.

Sharron Angle Now Leads Harry Reid. West Virginia In Play

In the latest Fox News Battleground Poll Sharron Angle has not raced into the lead against Harry Reid.

In the latest Fox News battleground state poll of likely voters, Angle drew 49 percent to Reid's 46 percent. As voters make up their mind with four weeks to go until Election Day, Angle seems to have the edge.

Likewise in West Virginia, a seat the Democrats just knew would be theirs to keep, the Republican, John Raese, is ahead 48 to 43.

The Incongruous Moment

We have reached the incongruous moment — that moment in time where things not in keeping with the surrounds and intended visuals suddenly merge into making perfect sense.

Walter Mondale is giving advice to Barack Obama on how to connect with the American people.

It was Mondale who, yesterday, told Barack Obama to ditch the teleprompter. This was preceded by Michael Dukakis admitting he had given the White House advice.

Suddenly the American public is reminded of how few successful national Democrats there are.

1. What Was Before Is Again

The New York Times ran an article over the weekend that the House of Representatives is still not in the hands of the GOP. A Newsweek survey came out with an oddity of a generic ballot answer. Gallup has been jumping all over the place.

Had I a show, I'd say "roll the tape." Instead, you'll have to settle for this.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Democrat Introduces Legislation to End Right-to-Work States

Back in June, we reported that California Congressman Brad Sherman (D) was circulating a letter to his fellow Democrats to introduce legislation to repeal "Right-to-Work" laws in 22 states. Now, with less than a month before the mid-term elections and five weeks before a lame-duck session in Congress, Sherman has introduced legislation to eliminate state Right to Work laws all across America.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. New York Fights Scourge of Capital-ism

Opening a new front in the War on Error, New York City will soon spend an estimated 27 million dollars to get the city's thousands of street signs to STOP YELLING AT YOU! In the name of readability the city will be moving from CAPS LOCK to Title Case on all street signs. There are over a quarter of a million signs to be replaced at a cost of $110 each.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, mixed-case signs are more readable; according to the city's Transportation Commissioner, they're also kinder and gentler.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Ami Bera (D CAND, CA-03) covering up sex offender tenants?

There are two parts to this: what is known, and what was reported.

It is known that the aforementioned Bera owned a transient hotel in California that had a registered sex offender (case involved a minor) living there in April of 2010. It is also known that living at the location in question would be effectively banned for sex offenders under the California Penal Code, as it is too close to both a playground and a high school. Lastly, it is known that the property was sold in December of 2009. These things are all known.

5. HHS Has Failed to Meet a Third of Obamacare's Mandated Deadlines

A new report from the non-partisan Congressional Research Service, commissioned by Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and others, finds astounding proof of the total administrative failure of the administration in implementing Obamacare. According to the report, HHS has missed one-third of the deadlines contained within the legislation for the first six months under Obama's new health care regime.

6. About Newsweek's Generic Ballot

So Newsweek put out a new Generic Ballot. The magazine's polling had drawn notice before in my House projection reports (this week's edition coming later today), but this new one just seems completely out of line: Democrats +5 among Registered Voters. That filtering is expected to lean to the left after the 2008 anomaly, but this is ridiculous.

I have two major points of contention with this poll that call into question how useful it is.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

7. Shorter Virginia Ironside: Most Adopted Kids Would Rather Be Dead, Anyway

According to author and columnist Virginia Ironside, most adopted kids would be better off dead. As would most children she considers "unfit". In fact, she says, a "loving" mother would smother a sickly child with a pillow, because the "suffering" of being ill makes that life meaningless and not worth living. She made these vile assertions in defense of abortion while appearing on the BBC's Sunday Morning Live during a discussion grossly entitled "Can abortion be a kindness?" First, her odious attempt to argue that abortion is a "loving choice" because some kids, in her mind, are unwanted. Her tunnel-visioned, sad excuse for a mind can't seem to fathom the fact that the children are always wanted, by someone. You know, like people with hearts and compassion.

Lindsey Lohan Republicans

I love Marc Thiessen columns at the Washington Post like I love moon pies and Coca-Cola — a most excellent combination of fine dining in the South.

His column on Lindsey Lohan Republicans is no different.

The fact is that Republican leaders in the House are looking toward a compromise on earmarks that would fall short of a total ban. Those advocating such a compromise say that while a Republican majority will make sure we never see another "Bridge to Nowhere," the GOP also must not cede the power of the purse to the liberals in the Obama administration. But banning all earmarks does not require Congress to cede this constitutional authority. If it did, why did the GOP agree to a complete earmark ban this year? By this logic, Democrats were upholding the Constitution by refusing to go along.

Thiessen's whole column is brilliant.

Here's Charlie Cook's review of the October generic ballot data trickling out:

In polls by the Gallup Organization for CNN and USA Today, among all adult Americans, Republicans have now been ahead of Democrats on the generic ballot test in all five surveys taken since mid-August. In the most recent poll, taken last Tuesday and Wednesday, Republicans had a 3-point advantage among registered voters, 48 to 45 percent.

A CBS News poll … among registered voters still found a narrow one-point Democratic edge, 42 to 41 percent, but that's compared to a 10-point Democratic advantage in October 1992.

An … ABC News poll found a 3-point Republican advantage among adults nationwide, 47 to 44 percent, compared to a 6-point GOP edge in both September and August ABC/Washington Post polls.

Tim Curran in Roll Call noted, "[A] slew of late polls show key races tightening around the country" and there were "indications of a slight Democratic comeback last week."

Hotline reported "recent polls showing Dems even or leading in generic ballot questions" and asked Bill Kristol for comment. Kristol said, "Republicans have not gotten as many votes across the nation as Democrats in a Congressional race in 40 years."

Margaret Carlson is on television saying of the GOP's insurgency, "The corks were popped a little early."

David Lauter, writing in the Los Angeles Times, reports

Asked which party can do a better job on the country's major problems, 36% favored Republicans, 29% chose Democrats and 15% said neither party….

The GOP holds similar edges on individual issues, including crime, welfare reform, the economy and the federal budget deficit. Even on health care, where the Democrats once enjoyed a large margin, the two sides are now even, at 38%, with 14% saying that neither party is up to the job.

The GOP edge generally has not come about because Republicans have won major improvements in their ratings as problem-solvers. Instead, respondents turned away from the Democrats, dropping their ratings. Moreover, the percentage saying they think that neither party can handle the nation's problems has risen.

Yes, yes, the nation hates the GOP, but wants the GOP in charge.

Now, here's the catch — all of those stories were from October of 1994 ranging from 4 weeks to a week before the November 8, 1994, sweep of the GOP.

The polls were tightening. The Democrats were again neck and neck with the GOP in 1994. Not only that, but the economy had improved. The recession was not only declared over, but employment was significantly on the rise.

The President was on the campaign trail in October of 1994 trying to rev up black voters and telling people not to go back to the era of George Bush. Same this year.

On October 9, 1994, a month out from the November 8, 1994 election, the Washington Post's Kevin Merida wrote, "One matchup pits William Frist (R), a wealthy heart-lung transplant surgeon from Nashville, against Sen. Jim Sasser (D), an 18-year veteran who chairs the Budget Committee and is making a strong bid to be the next Senate majority leader. Though some polls have showed the race tightening, several independent analysts doubt that Frist has enough to knock Sasser out. But he is trying."

Bill Frist won the race 56% to 42%

A few points to consider as you wake up

The 'One Nation' rally happened this weekend. The majority of the crowd was bussed in by union groups and other leftwing groups. Compare that to tea party activists, the majority of whom pooled their money to go to DC for the 8/28 rally.

A large segment of the crowd was paid to be there. Unions pay. Tea party groups and Glenn Beck did not on 8/28.

Nonetheless, the crowd was sparse — so sparse that even the Associated Press was compelled to take note of it.

Of those who were there though, they were unapologetically of the left. Assorted communists, socialists, union goons, and Democrats. But I repeat myself.

The Communist Party USA openly bragged about its effort to turn out the crowd in defense of its darling socialist Barack Obama. The left is finally being honest. They are embracing their socialist/communist identity.

They even held up signs and banners proclaiming the return of the Reds.

2. The OneNation March: November's Choices Are Clearer Than Ever

They came, they preached Marx, they trashed D.C., disrespected WWII vets (yes, those are SEIU signs), attacked Tea Parties as 'insidious' and 'villainous,' and they showed the rest of America what vile contempt they have for the Land of the Free. By all accounts, it was a success. For they were finally able to take their masks off—how liberating.

From the Left's point of view, they are now completely, unabashedly out in the open. There's no more hiding behind bromides and phony feel-good names, the Left has now unmasked itself. Socialists, Communists, labor unions, liberals, progressives and other assorted riff-raff…why, they are all, undisputedly, one big, incestuously happy family now. Congratulations!

And, for them, there is no going back into the closet, no turning back: We're socialists and we're proud.

3. Nevada's Largest Newspaper Endorses Sharron Angle

The last time Harry Reid ran for the Senate the Las Vegas Review Journal endorsed him.

Not this time. Nevada's largest newspaper has gone all in with Sharron Angle.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Left freaks out over Moe Tucker.

For those who don't know - and come, I will conceal nothing from you; until five minutes ago, this included me - Ms. Tucker was a drummer for the Velvet Underground, which for a certain segment of the population makes her instantly cooler than squeezable bacon. Well, in April of 2009 a 'Maureen Tucker' showed up at a Georgia Tea Party.

5. British environmentalists: murder children for a Greener tomorrow!

"Good God. It's like running ads for the Holocaust."

That was one of my colleagues' reaction when he saw this "No Pressure" video put out by British environmentalists, which is… hideous. As in, 'they started by blowing up two children in a crowded classroom for not wanting to bike to school' hideous. As in, 'they splattered the other children with blood and viscera' hideous. As in, 'the Greenies themselves are reportedly hunting down and erasing all examples of this video on Youtube' hideous.

What is this all about? Environmentalists in Britain have a new ad campaign out to encourage people to fight global warming, etc. The message of the ad campaign — and this is no exaggeration and you can see it for yourself — is to kill those men, women, and children who refuse to go along with the green agenda.
