In case you haven’t spent tons of time on Retrontario’s Youtube site, this gem is a great place to start.

Alto’s Adventure and Odyssey go free

altosadventure:

We’ve decided to make Alto’s Adventure and Alto’s Odyssey available for free for the next week to help anyone who may be practicing social distancing or self-isolation. We hope Alto and the gang can bring a little calm into your homes during these difficult times.

Like I said last post, sometimes marketing and trying to help can be the same thing. These are my go-to chill phone games. I’d recommend them to anyone.

Let’s meet this moment together

Calm Blog:

Without a doubt, many of us are feeling anxious as we navigate the uncertainty of COVID-19. We’re feeling it too, and we wanted to share some of the tools we’re using to take care of our minds and stay grounded. All of the resources on this page are free of charge — please share with anyone who might benefit.

Lots of meditations and soothing music. Just like Pelotons’ extended trial, this is marketing, sure, but it’s also helpful.

Walking in the Age of Corona

Craig Mod — Ridgeline issue 063:

In a sub-valley there is a coffee shop — “we are not a coffee shop” says their sign. They are a beans shop. But if you order enough beans, you get free coffee. They are open. A risk is taken. I enter. Hands are spritz’d with alcohol. Am I being amoral? Perhaps. But I do need more beans.

Craig’s newsletter is human as hell.

The Coronavirus Is Here to Stay, So What Happens Next?

The New York Times:

No one knows for sure how long social distancing will have to last to reduce the spread to near zero. But if South Korea and China are appropriate exemplars, we’ll need to stay apart now for at least eight weeks, and maybe more…That timeline suggests that your kids are not going back to school on April 1. Nor are you returning to the office or catching a movie anytime soon. Plan for social distancing at least until mid- or late May, and be thankful if it eases off earlier.

I was hopeful that 2-3 weeks would be it, but that was probably too optimistic. This article had a lot of good advice. I got it originally from New Shelton Wet/Dry

Outbreaks In Victorian England Confirm Coronavirus Capable Of Spreading Through Time

The Onion:

The World Health Organization is issuing new warnings today following reports that an 8-year-old chimney sweep in 1860s London has tested positive for Covid-19.

That was a good one to start the morning.

Toronto waking up to new reality

CBC News:

On Monday, the city’s medical officer of health, Dr. Eileen De Villa, announced sweeping measures expected to start before sunrise on Tuesday: all Toronto bars, nightclubs, theatres, and restaurants — with the exception of take-out options — were asked to close, or risk facing a $25,000 daily fine under provincial health protection legislation.

It’s amazing to me how fast this went from “you won’t get in professional trouble if you decide to work from home” to fines for open businesses. Like, that was 4 days for me.

A free book about working from home

Take Control of Working from Home Temporarily:

We’re in a time of unprecedented uncertainty. In the middle of a global viral outbreak, you were told or asked to work from home—and you’ve never or rarely had to be productive where you live before. What to do? We’re here to take at some stress out of your life with a new, free book that details how to set up a home office and balance work and home life for those not accustomed to it.

I just downloaded the ePub. I’ve enjoyed Glenn Fleishman anytime he’s been on The Talk Show and I’m sure his voice helps this book out.
