Hope?

Taken on Queen St the other day.

There was an un-scathed version of this next to it. It was a rendering of balls.

Going on vacation next week

I'm off to Grenada next week until January. I'm going to burn like crazy, but it's going to be a fun trip. Meeting my lady's family and friends, relaxing on the beach, enjoying tunes from a cardboard mp3 player (loving it). All good things.

I'll be able to check email but I wouldn't count on me in any sort of emergency situation. I think that may be the part of the vacation I'm looking forward to most: disconnecting. As much as I love my online life, I can't help but feel I'm giving up so many things to keep it abreast. I wonder if this happens to novelists more than other people. The people I know who use a computer for a living all seem to have this problem. The people who make things in the real world do not. Obviously there's a correlation, and one might wonder if I'm not better suited to the typewriter than the keyboard (and yes, I have one).
